Kadence's P.O.V

Getting over my first class was an absolute bitch, Donovan seems to be fine right now meaning he probably found some girl to hook up with. During Anatomy class, I was full out ignored by Brooklyn which kind of hurt. I'll try talking to her later.

Lunch finally rolled around and I sat down with the girls like usual and surprisingly the boys actually came. I saw Ellie got out of the lunch line with her food and she walked over to the table with dominance. She was tall and slender but perfectly built she had everyone's eyes on her. She wore her cheer outfit and her long blonde wavy hair came running down her side, she was quite stunning. Okay, snap out of it!

She sat next to me and her fragrance flew throughout the table.

"You needed to talk?" she said with her voice being monotone.

Oh god, she seems mad.

"Uh yeah, about us."

She looked down to her fries.

"What about?" she arched one of her eyebrows.

"You are my best friend... we've been knowing each other since we were kids, I love you for being my best friend."

I paused, her lips were curved down and she seemed like she lost her appetite.

"I don't want anything to be awkward, but yesterday... you asked me if I loved Brooklyn, and my answer is yes. I do love Brooklyn."

She looked at me hurt, with tears on the verge to come.

"What do you want Kadence. I already knew your answer so just leave me alone."

Her voice cracked, and she got up and left the lunchroom. Jamie looked at me and she went to go follow Ellie. I think I lost my appetite as well. I got up from the seat not caring what the table thought and threw my food away, I pushed past the doors and made my way to the library.

Making my way to the back corner, I caught Brooklyn's hair in her usual spot. Her nose was in a book and I saw a bag of chips laying on the side, cute. I made my way over and sat across from her, she looked up and her eyes gave me this alluring attraction towards her.

"...Um, hi" she sighed.

She gave a small quirky smile and her lips perked to the side, I looked down to see what book she was reading and of course... another anatomy book.

"Do you want to hang out after school today?" I asked

"Oh, uh... I'm kind of busy studying, another time?"

Her eyes dropped down, she looked upset like something was bothering her. Her eyes weren't as bright as the hazelnut ones that I know they were dark filled with hesitation and pain. Something was up and I am going to make this girl happy again.

"just, come to health room after school the cheer team will be there and we kind of need help with Fall Dance ideas."

"What's a Fall Dance?"

"You're serious right? You've been here all four years at Mason Grover and you haven't heard of the Fall Dance?"

"Hey, remember I don't socialize."

"And you won't have to while you are there! we just need theme ideas and volunteers. You'll be by my side the whole time, I promise."

I gave her puppy eyes and gave out a small laugh. She put her book in front of her face to hide her smile and her eyes seem to grow a little happiness. She gave this hesitation look.

"Please?" I gave a wide smile.

I held her hand and she covered her face with her hands while the book dropped in her lap.

"Okay! Okay fine."

"After school today in the Health room, it's near the gym and weight room."

She let out a sigh and the bell rang.

"Can I walk you to class?"

I saw her cheeks blush and she nodded.

"What class are you heading to?" I asked.

"Uh, I have AP Calculus. You?"

"AP Biology! That means we are in the same hall, weird how I don't see you."

"I'm good at being invisible."

"Mmm, not in my eyes."

We made our way to the third floor passing the metal lockers, I saw some of my friends down the hall waiting for me. They gave me a small look as if I had something spilled on my uniform.

"Uh, this is my stop," she said quietly.

She grasped onto her books and walked into Calculus, while I made my way down to my friends.

"Who was that girl?" Joanna asked looking disgusted.

She was a very judgmental girl and I don't really talk to her, she was in her cheer outfit and what I've heard she is a giant player.

"She was with us during the pool party..."

"Oh, she's the one who drowned, right. her..."

What was that suppose to mean? The other girls gave me a look and seemed to agree with Joanna.

"What's that suppose to mean?" I said defensively.

"I mean... she's not even that pretty, I don't know how she can afford this school making her a low-life, and she's never noticed."

Oh, she did not just say that.

"Okay Joanna and girls, you listen here. She is coming after school to help us today on the Fall Dance and I better see some respect. She might not be apart of anything and she might not have as many friends but she deserves some respect. Cut the attitude or I'll cut you from the team."

I gave them a stare showing them that I was serious, my fist was tightening around my bag and I was a little heated. I can't believe she said that. The girls didn't respond and we left it like that. We walked inside and none of them made eye contact with me, I'm pretty sure I gave them a death sentence.

—————————

"Ladies! Listen up! We have a month until October hits and the Fall Dance will hit. This year we are doing a starry night theme."

The girls started talking in excitement.

"I know! I know! We need three teams ladies! We need the art program to help come up with designs and that goes along with the theater program too. Then we need catering ideas we need bakeries and last but not least I will have my own team on fliers and posters."

I took a huge breath and drank from my water bottle that was on the side of the desk. God my mouth was so dry and that was such a mouthful.

"Alright! I will be in charge of team one fliers, Jamie will be in charge of team two pastries, and Ellie will be in charge of team three for decorations. Your names are on the board of what team you will be apart of. Disperse!"

The girls quickly ran up to the board to figure out their teams, I looked around and I didn't see Brooklyn. Hm. I grabbed my phone out of my bag and quickly called her.

A light buzzing sound was made from a distance, I quickly heard coming from the door and saw her. I hung up and walked towards the door she gave a small smile.

"Hey, you made it."

"I told you I would."

"I'll explain everything later to you, right now you are on my team with fliers!"

She looked over my shoulder and I saw her face filled with anxiety. I'm assuming she saw all the people in the room moving around like crazy. I looked over my shoulder as well but realized she was staring at Ellie who was also staring back. Okay!

"Um, we're over here."

A group of girls waited for us, and we walked over.

"Okay, three of you guys will be working on the fliers and Brooklyn and I will be working on the posters outside of school."

They all agreed and walked away. I looked over to Brooklyn and she was looking down with nervousness, I held her hand and she looked up at me. Her hands were soft, she was so beautiful... I gave her a smile and she gave a small smile back.

"How about we do big printed letters with the Fall colors on them?"

She nodded and we worked on the computer.

——————

I made my way home and so did everyone else. I walked Brooklyn to her car, she still seemed upset...

"What's wrong Brooklyn... ever since I saw you today you've been extremely quiet."

"Oh, nothing just tired and a lot of socializing today."

She quickly got in her car and started it.

"Alright, well. I'll see you tomorrow okay?"

"Okay."

She drove off and I immediately felt droopy and tired. I got in my car and I tilted my head back to rest my head on the chair, I have so much to do. Honestly, I wish I could spend more time with Brooklyn. I finished all my homework and I should've offered to help her with hers but then again she's a really smart girl.

It is only six thirty at night. I think I'll stop by the studio in town, I haven't been there in a while. I used to dance when I was little and then I stopped when I hit freshman year because I was just too busy. I grew a passion for what my parents were doing, they took me to the O.R. for the first time and I wanted to learn. My true passion though was dancing, I may not dance with a team anymore but that didn't stop me from dancing by myself.

I parked in a side lot and swiftly changed in my car into my ballet uniform. My car windows were tinted so no one could see me, it was silky and white with a little pink. I put my hair up in a bun and walked towards the studio. I still had the keys to the place, and from the look of it from the outside, no one was there. I walked in seeing stairs on both sides and a room in the back, I walked to the back of studio A and switched on the lights.

Empty and quiet, just how I like it. The lights were dimmed and it felt nice like I was doing what I always meant to do the dimmed lights felt like a spotlight. The mirrors reflected off of me and I threw my bag near the door. I took my phone out and went to the speakers in the corner, I plugged it in and started to play Nuvole Bianche by Ludovico.

I love all sorts of music, but when it came to dancing I always found myself dancing to piano pieces. I stood tall with my form ready in the middle of the studio and slowly the piano came in lightly. I moved steadily to the song falling in with every note, every turn I took, every new step I made, every motion that blended in with the song I took a breath.

I felt hot and but I felt light it would be nice to have a dance partner. I looked at myself in the mirror and I can tell my jumps have gotten higher and better. I closed my eyes and felt my eyes traveling through my mind.

The thought of Brooklyn popped into my head and I fell to the ground, I didn't felt the pain when I landed on my knee, I was used to it from cheering. I laid on the wooden slick floors, I realized I was out of breath it was heard and heavy. My chest rose up and down, I stared at the ceiling... Brooklyn, every time I thought about her, everything seems to stop.

Holding her that night made me feel warm, she was precious and her smell was alluring. Why did Joanna say that? It bothered me that people think of Brooklyn like that, so what if she isn't as wealthy like most people in the school? So what if she didn't want to make friends? I mean that's just her and how she is, I let out a sigh and closed my eyes.

A loud clap broke out near the door.

I immediately sat up feeling startled and I saw a woman probably in her mid-forties with an all light grey hair. She gave out a small laugh.

"Hi, my name is Andrea Swine, this studio actually belongs to me, I locked it up but forgot something. Then I saw you."

I stiffened a little. Fuck. I probably just broke in and enter basically.

"Want to tell me how you got inside?" she gave a stern look

"O-Oh, um... I used to dance here and all throughout middle school I would catch a cab and come here. My old dance teacher gave me a key because I came a lot to practice at night. I still have the key..."

She stared me down a little with her lips quirked to the side probably debating whether she should trust me or not.

"Who was your dance teacher?" she asked.

"Uh, Samantha Parks. Do you know her?"

"I do indeed. Keep the key, you are a very talented dancer but why did you stop all of a sudden when you were dancing?"

I felt my cheeks flush with red, thinking about the thought that I was thinking of Brooklyn.

"Something just caught my mind when I was wandering in there..."

I gave out a small laugh and she smiled, she went to the back room and came back out with a bag. I'm assuming that is hers.

"I haven't seen such elegance dancing like that in a long time. How about I make you a deal, if you keep dancing after school like this I'll send you a surprise."

"What's the surprise?"

"If I tell you, you would try your hardest to impress me so let me just tell you it is big. Do we got a deal?"

I mean the surprise couldn't be that great, plus I miss dancing...

"Deal."

"Alright see you tomorrow."
