"Who can you trust?"

Officer Klyde P.O.V

"Klyde, they brought in the girl." One of the rookie cops named Tim informs me.

"Good, have Dave interview her."

"Oh, by the way some woman is here, says she has some evidence you might need for this case. She's in your office." He adds. I just mutter a thanks and go to my office. It's been a crazy day. I'm really tired and just want some rest. Also from what I heard, Audrey might not survive. Poor girl.

As soon as I enter my office I see a blonde women in fancy looking clothes.

"Hello, I'm officer Klyde, I heard you had evidence or something?"

"Yes, I was at my daughter's house getting it ready to sell and found this." She hands me a torn crumpled piece of paper.

"Your daughter?"

"Yes, Aimee is my daughter. I'm Lisa Caven." That's a first. Usually the rich hire a good lawyer to defend their kids no matter what and here she is helping us.

I look at the paper. At the top it says revenge which is underlined about twenty times. Then at the bottom it has a list of names: Audrey, Chris, and Emma. This makes sense. When Mark Dewolfe confessed he said that a girl named Aimee had hired him and his brother Robert. She had told them to hit Emma's car and created the whole kidnapping/ransom plan.

"Thank you for this. Just so you know your daughter is here in custody."

"Oh. Well that's what she deserves. When I saw this and heard about what happened in the news I thought maybe she had something to do with it. I remember her ranting about the people on the list about how she was going to make them pay when she called me a couple of days ago."

"Do you know why she wanted to hurt these people?"

"No idea. I do know that she was trying to date Christopher." She shrugs. "His company bought the boardwalk from us and ever since she met him she was infatuated with him talking about marriage and a future together." I recall that Nate's first name is Christopher.

"Do you actually think Aimee did all this?"

"I want to say no but I think she did honestly. Plus my husband and I had cut her money off. With the ransom money she would have been set for awhile."

"Why did you cut her off?"

"She needed to learn how to take care of herself. We handed everything to her through out her life." Strange reason.

"Okay well thank you again."

"No problem. If my daughter asks for me or my husband please tell her that she's on her own for this one." She then turns and leaves.

Well that was weird. I decide to go to Mark and ask him some more questions when I see Dave coming towards me.

"Hey how is the interview with Aimee going. I just got in some evidence." I show him the paper.

"She keeps crying saying she doesn't understand why she's here and that she didn't do anything. Could you try talking to her?"

"Yeah, I'll go right now."

"Thanks."

I go to the interrogation room and find Aimee crying. As soon as she sees me she asks why she's here.

I put the paper down. "Did you write this?"

She looks at it a little surprised. "Y- Yes but it's nothing."

"Really? So you didn't hire a hitman to hurt Emma and plan Audrey's kidnapping to ask for money? Because the man who was arrested told us your name and said you hired him."

"What?! I had nothing to do with that! I never met with some hitman. Yes I wrote this, but I didn't do anything! I never hired anyone! I just wrote this list when I was mad but I didn't do anything, I promise!" She starts crying.

You know when you have a feeling in your gut? For some reason I believed her when she said she was innocent. But Aimee was the only suspect that made sense at the moment.
.......................................................

"Mark do you recognize this person?" I show him a photo.

"No." He looks at the photo disinterested.

I raise my eyebrows at him."Strange since that's Aimee the girl you said you met and hired you."

"Oh, I just didn't recognize her at first. Yeah, that's the chick who hired us. So when are we going to talk about my deal for helping y'all?"

"Hired hitmen don't get deals. We ran you and Robert's fingerprints and found both of you connected to other murders. I bet he was the one who set everything up and you just followed along. Now he's dead and your here to pay for your brother's crimes."

He looks angry then responds."I want a phone call."

"Fine. I'll make sure they give you one."

I have a feeling that this case isn't closed. There's something more. In my line of work not everything is as it seems once you dig deeper.
