"Miss Iyer, I am sorry but we can't accept your application." Her eyes itched yet again.

"But why?" She asked softly even though she knew the answer.

"We want to provide a stable home for these kids. And our policies doesn't allow single parents, I am really sorry." The lady forwarded her application casually as if she didn't cursed her hope.

As if her rejection didn't hurt her.

As if her already broken heart didn't break further.

Putting a brave face, she walked out if the door.

Her breathing laboured.

She felt as if something was pressed against her nose.

Something was stopping her from breathing.

She gasped, standing up with a jerk.

A small sigh left her lips as she the darkness around.

A small smile making it's way on her lips, as she saw her daughter splayed in the bed.

Her arms on her pillow giving her the fair idea what exactly was suffocating her.

She softly kissed her 6 years old, before straitening her and lied beside her.

She knew what was going to happen tomorrow but she was prepared.

She was prepared to face her demons.

She was prepared for two pair of puppy dog eyes complaining how they didn't get to sleep with her parents, as a arm snaked on her waist.

Its been 7 years since any orphanage rejected her application.

Its been 7 years since a six year old  entered her life with her father.

Its been 7 year since she got a son and daughter to call her own.

Its been 7 year since another little girl entered their small family.

Its been 7 year and she still gets the nightmares about how this might not be real.

But with her family beside her, she is  learning.

She is learning to accept the reality.

She learning to accept she is happy.

*****

Just another random thought because I was thinking how unfair those people were with her saying single parents can take care if their child.

Should I put the trigger warning?

Let me know in the comments.

~Gia
