"Are you done?" Prithvi yelled from the living room.

"Just five more minutes" Inaya replied back from her bedroom.

"Inaya, you have been saying this from past thirty minutes. Are you ever going to come out? We are already an hour late for the party" Prithvi yelled again. His patience was running thin. If there was something that Prithvi hated it was being late.

"I am ready. Let's go" Inaya came rushing out of the room still trying to wear her earrings.

"Finally!" Prithvi sighed and got up. But as soon as his eyes landed on Inaya he froze. She looked breathtaking. She wore a simple black dress which wasn't very fancy but wasn't very simple as well. She paired it with some jewelry and heels. Her black lacious hair falling down her shoulders. Prithvi's jaw dropped from looking at the beauty infront of him.

"Prithvi?" Inaya called out when she didn't see any movements.

Her voice brought him out of his dreamland. "Yeah?" he cleared his throat and she frowned looking at his weird behavior.Β Β

"We are getting late" she said and he hurriedly picked up his car keys and left her apartment. Inaya followed him.

The car ride to the venue was silent. Soft music was playing in the background and both of them stole glances of eachother when they thought the other was not seeing. After an hour drive they were finally at the venue. Prithvi like a true gentleman opened the gate for Inaya which actually shocked her. They entered the venue hand in hand and Inaya took a deep breath looking at the people in the hall. This can be a life changing moment for her.

"Nervous?" Prithvi whispered in her ears which sent down shivers down her back. He was so close to her that she can feel his breath on the shell of her ear.

"Little" she whispered trying to control her heart beat which was going crazy because of their proximity.

"You will definitely get a publisher for your next book tonight. I have faith in you" and those words made butterflies erupt in her stomach. It was just simple words but meant a lot of her. If she and Prithvi were together she would have kissed him right now but he was just a friend and a neighbor.

Soon Inaya got busy in conversation with some people and Prithvi being a good friend didn't leave her side. Whenever she got nervous he would hold her hand in assurance or mummer sweet words in her ears.

"Do you want a drink?" Prithvi asked as they finally sat peacefully for the first time tonight.

"One dry martini please" Inaya said and Prithvi left to get her drink.

Inaya was sitting peacefully and observing the people around her. The one person she thought would come didn't attend the party and she was little disappointed. She was lost in her thoughts when someone placed a and on her shoulder. Turning around she found a lady who was almost in her late fifties smiling at her. She instantly recognized her and got up to greet her.

"Inaya, right?" the lady asked.

"Yes. I am so glad to meet you Mrs. Mathur" Inaya said with a smile.

"I should say this. I am lucky to meet you. I must say you are one of my favourite authors" Mrs. Mathur said.

"I am honored" Inaya felt proud of herself for he impressing the owner of the biggest and most famous publishing firm of the country.Β

"Are you writing something?" Mrs. Mathur asked.

"I am currently writing a novel. I have just started so there isn't much" Inaya replied.

"Well then I am looking forward for it's copy and yes I wish I will be the only person who will get to read it before it gets published" Inaya's smile widened hearing her words. Mrs. Mathur was telling her that she wants to publish her book. Can this day get any better for her?

They were busy in their discussion when a young man came and stood beside Mrs. Mathur. He was tall, dark and handsome. His perfectly gelled hair and his sharp jawline would make any girl fall for him.

"Inaya, meet my son, Akshay" Mrs. Mathur said pointing towards his son.

"Hi!" Inaya said.

"My eyes are blessed today. What did I do to come across such a beauty?" Inaya blushed at his comment.

"Inaya?" Prithvi called her out.

"Prithvi I was waiting for you" Inaya said and Mrs. Mathur and her son whose back was facing Prithvi now turned to see the owner of the voice. As soon as their eyes met all three of them froze.

"Mrs. Mathur, this is Prithvi. He is my friend, my date for tonight and also my neighbor" Inaya said now standing next to him.

"Hello, Prithvi" Mrs. Mathur said Prithvi harshly kept the glass on the table and turned around to leave but halted on his steps. "I am waiting for you in the car. Come when you are done" and with that he left.Β

Inaya looked at his retreating figure. When she turned around to face the two people who she was standing with she saw them looking at her with weird emotions on their face.

"I am sorry. He is little moody. I actually forced him to come here maybe that's why he is acting like that" she defended him but inside she was boiling with anger.

"It's fine, Inaya. This is my card. Give me a call once you finish writing your book" Mrs. Mathur said and Inaya took the card. She said them goodbye and hurried out of the venue. When she was in the parking lot she saw Prithvi leaning against his car and lost in his thoughts. She marched towards him.

"Are you fucking crazy? Why did you do that?" she yelled once they were face to face.

"Get in the car, Inaya" Prithvi said greeting his teeth.

"I won't until you tell me the reason for your behavior" she said.

"Don't test my patience, Inaya. Get in the car" he opened the door for her.

"I said I won't" she banged the door shut. "You were perfectly fine the whole time, then what happened? Do you realize that your behavior can cost me the chance of my book getting published by one of the most famous publishing firms" she yelled pushing him.

"Enough!" he held her upper arm and yanked her closer to him. "Get in the car or I will leave you here" he said in a dangerous tone.

"Fine. I don't want to go with you. I can go alone" she pulled her hand back and started walking towards the exit. She had hardly taken any step when Prithvi picked her up on his shoulder and made her sit in the passenger seat.

"Are you out of your mind? Let me go" Inaya yelled but he ignored her.

He sat in the driving seat and started the engine. Inaya took deep breaths to calm down her anger or she would definitely go to jail for mudering Prithvi. As soon as Prithvi parked the car in the apartment's parking lot Inaya got down and marched towards the elevator. She didn't want to be near him for now.Β  Β

Prithvi screwed up again.
