Maya wrapped up her work and was ready to back home. Today was a long day. She was working overtime today. She pressed the elevator button and waited patiently for the doors to open.

It has been two weeks since her conversation with Agastya on the terrace. Things were good between them. They were slowly going back to their old selves. She was happy and so was he. It has been few days since she last saw him. He was extremely busy with his work and hardly had time to call her but he always messaged her.

As soon as she stepped out of her office building a smiling face greeted her.

"Hi" he said waving his hands.

"What are you doing here?" she asked as she stood in front of him.

"I want to take you somewhere" Agastya said looking straight in her eyes.

"Right now?" she asked looking at the time on her phone. It was soon going to be eleven.

"Yes! Did you eat anything?"

"I ordered take away" she replied. "How did you know that I was still in the office?"

"I was in the elevator when I met Sangita aunty. She told me and also asked me to bring you back home."

"Oh yeah! I forgot. Maa toh maasi ke ghar gai hai."

"Let's go" he opened the car door for her and gestured her to sit. She smiled at him and sat in the car.

Agastya gave life to the car engine and started driving.

"Where are we going?" Maya asked as she dialled her mother's number.

"Beach" he replied and continued looking at the road.

Maya spoke to Mrs. Sangita and enquired about her maasi's health. Agastya parked the car and they both made their way towards the water.

Cool breeze softly kissed their face. Surprisingly there was no one on the beach. Both of them walked quitely beside eachother.

"Let's sit" Maya sat down and pulled Agastya as well. They continued staring at the water but no one spoke a word.

"Do you miss them?" Maya broke the silence.

"Who?"

"Your parents?"

"I do" Agastya said and his eyes became moist. She remembered him talking about his parents few days back as it was his mother's death anniversary that day.

"They will always stay alive in your heart, Agastya" she said softly and he smiled. She wrapped her arms around his left arm and rested her head on his shoulder.

"You know papa used to sing a song for maa whenever she used to get angry."

"Which song?"

"Kabhi kabhi mere dil meh, khayal aata hai, ki jaise tujhko banaya gaya hai mere liye" she sang and then giggled thinking how bad is she at singing.

Agastya didn't say a word. Maya looked up at him and found him already looking at her.

"Mujhe bhi kabhi kabhi khayal aata hai ki tum sirf mere liye bani ho" Agastya said as he fingers caressed her cheeks.

"Do you like him?" Agastya asked and Maya looked at him in confusion.

"Who are you talking about?" She asked moving little away from him.

"Aditya" he closed his eyes as he spoke. He was afraid to hear her answer. She remained silent for a moment and then bursted out laughing.

"Oh my god! Agastya. You are so cute" she pulled his cheeks. "I and Adi can never be together" she said once she was sober.

"He is gay" she continued and Agastya's eyes widened in shock. "You heard it right. Adi is into men and he is already dating someone. Also, he is going to propose him soon" she said.

Once the information sinked in Agastya's brain he sighed in relief.

"But I love someone" Maya spoke and Agastya whipped his head in her direction.

"W-Who?"

"You" she replied and her cheeks instantly warmed up. A smile broke on Agastya's face and without any warning he descended his lips on hers.

Maya felt the owls rapidly flapping their wings in her stomach as his lips moved softly against hers. She wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him closer. They kissed till they were out of breath.

"I love you" Agastya rested his forehead on hers.

"I love you more" she replied smiling and they kissed again.

It wasn't just a kiss. It was a promise of togetherness. They spent some time on the beach and they left for home.

"Good night" Maya said as the doors of the elevator opened.

"Good night" Agastya said half- heartedly. He didn't want Maya to go.

She stepped out of the elevator and gave him one last look. Before the doors could close completely Agastya stepped out and stood close to her.

"Stay with me" he pleaded.

Maya thought for a while and then nodded. Agastya smiled like a cheshire cat. That night they slept peacefully in eachother's arms.

Next day Agastya left the house before Mrs. Sangita's arrival. They didn't want her to think that they were doing something which they shouldn't do.

Maya was sitting in her cabin lost in her thoughts. Something was different today. Agastya haven't called or messaged her since morning. Aditya was ignoring her too and her mother she was behaving weirdly after she returned from her sister's place.

She tried to call Agastya but he didn't pick up. He even left her message on seen. She brushed off these thoughts and focused on her work.

Once she was done for the day she went home. She rang the doorbell but her mother didn't open the door. She frowned. Taking out her keys she unlocked the door and saw darkness everywhere.

"Maa?" she called out.

"Maa, kaha ho aap?"

"Maa?"

She moved towards the switch board and before she could switch on the lights two arms wrapped around her waist.

She gasped. "It's me" she heard his husky voice.

"What are you doing here? And where is maa? Why there is so much darkness?"

"Sshh...kitna bolti ho" Agastya said and she slapped him playfully on his arms.

"Come" he pulled her towards her balcony. He made her stand still and went to do something. Suddenly the lights were on.

Her whole balcony was decorated with fairy lights and flowers. She looked around to make sure it was her house. Agastya came and stood in front of her.

"Maya you are my best friend. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. I feel complete with you and I can't imagine my life without you. So, Ms. Maya--" he took out a ring from his pocket and sat on his one knee in front of her "--Will you marry me?"

Tears streamed down Maya's face. She was over the moon. "Yes!" she replied in tears.

Agastya slid the ring in her finger and and hugged her and then they heard a click. There stood Aditya and Mrs. Sangita looking at both of them with a smile.

"I so happy for both of you" Mrs. Sangita said.

Aditya then hugged Maya and congratulated her and then showed her his hand where a diamond ring sat.

"Really?" She asked in excitement.

"Yes! He proposed me before I could" he replied.

Agastya looked at them and smiled. Maya hugged Agastya once again.

Life was beautiful. Life kept them away from eachother for so long but maybe it was important for them and specially for Agastya to know what they meant to eachother.

Sorry for disappearing. I have a lot on my plate right now.

Epilogue will be posted soon.
