Endgmae spoilers. Kinda.

Tony took a deep breath and closed his eyes, straightening his suit. He clenched his fists tightly and willed himself not to cry.

"Daddy? Mommy said we gotta go now." A young voice said from the doorway.

"I'll be there in a minute, kiddo." Tony responded, flinching at his own words.

Kiddo. That's what he'd called Peter. Peter. He didn't know if he could do this.

"Mommy said we gotta go now or we'll be late. We're going to see Petey, right daddy?" Morgan asked quietly.

"Yeah, sweetheart." Tony answered, turning to look at her.

"Why'd he have to go?" She suddenly asked, her chocolate brown eyes staring up at her father.

Tony exhaled loudly and sat on the bed. "Come here, Morgie." He summoned, reaching out.

Morgan's black dress crinkled as she climbed into her father's lap. "Petey fought the bad guy but it took a whole lotta power. Petey needed a glo-"

Tony's voice broke and he cleared his throat. "Your big brother needed a powerful glove to help him fight the bad guy. But people aren't supposed to have that much power, so Petey had to go." He explained.

Morgan blinked up at him, a big frown on her face. "But you said that you and the 'vengers were gonna fight the bad guy and bring Petey back." She argued, tears filling her eyes.

"We were. We did. But he had to go again." Tony whispered, trying desperately not to let his tears fall.

"Why'd he have to go before he met me? Did he not like me?" Morgan asked, a tear dripping down her face.

Tony let out a sob. "God no, sweetheart. Petey would've loved you. He had to go so he could keep you safe." He answered, his tears finally falling.

"Oh." Morgan whispered sadly.

Tony pulled her close and buried his face in her hair. "Momma will get mad if we don't go." She mumbled.

"I know, Morgan. Let's go say bye to Peter." He said, standing up and setting her on the ground.

She grabbed his hand tightly. "But if we say bye we won't ever see him again." Morgan whined as they walked from the room.

Tony smiled down at her. "We'll see him again some day."

She gave him a thoughtful look, then smiled. "We should say see you later, then!"

He breathed out a laugh and slipped on his sunglasses. "We should."

And so later, as they gazed at his headstone, they didn't bid him goodbye. Instead, they said, "See you later."

Because they would, eventually.
