James stopped dead in his tracks before turning around. "She does?" James started to shake, still bothered by these accusations, and slowly walked back to the table and sat down. "Are you sure Ray? This is my little girl we're talking about here. She wouldn't harm a fly." Ray looked a little disappointed in himself before responding. "James, I wouldn't lie to you, you trust me don't you?" James hesitated a little bit before answering Ray. "I trust you... You're like a brother to me, of course I trust you." He paused for a moment "I also trust my daughter. Let me talk to her. Maybe I can figure something out. What if she isn't the cause of all of this. I won't do that, I won't take another innocent life." Ray nodded in response. Secretly Ray didn't care who was the culprit, he just wanted it to stop. The men finished up their meeting and went their separate ways until the next meeting was arranged.

Without anyone knowing, James decided to sneak over to his daughter's shop to ask her a few questions before things went too far. When he pulled up in front of the lavender colored building he smiled when he saw his daughter outside watering the plants outside her storefront. He took a moment to remember when she was a young girl helping her mother in the garden, he remembered the look of joy in her eyes while being out in nature. The sound of a car horn brought him back to reality and he got out of his car to go to his daughter. "DAD!" He heard being yelled excitedly a few feet away. Quickly, he was almost knocked over by a surprise hug from his loving daughter. "What a surprise! I wasn't expecting you! How's mom? Is she here with you?" "No honey, not this time. She's okay though. Look, is there any way I can talk to you in private for a second?" Autumn noticed the worried look on her father's face. "Of course, I'm actually about to go to lunch. I stay in the loft upstairs, let me close up and I'll make you something to eat." She tended to her last customer, locked the front door, and put up an "Out To Lunch" sign. Her father followed her upstairs, once in the apartment he sat at her dining room table. "Tea?" She said as she was already getting two cups out of the cabinet. "Okay, yeah. Sure. Thank you." She made them both a cup and sat down at the table with her father.

"What's bothering you dad? You never look this stressed out? Did something happen to mom or Jack?" "No.. Nothing like that." James looked at the ground, unsure how to talk about this very touchy subject. "I have a very serious question to ask you Autumn." "What is it?" "Well, the sheriff-" "What could he possibly have done now?" "Autumn he thinks you're a witch." She paused a moment, unsure how to respond. She knew her parents weren't very religious but she also knew they always accepted her no matter what. "That's a lie, I make things with herbs and oils." He looked relieved. "Dad, I don't hurt people. I help people." "That's not what he thinks. He thinks you're a part of some cult that has been terrorizing the town. He told us-" Autumn cut James off "Us? Who is this us?" "Harold, Jacob, and myself." "Dad, you know I would never hurt anyone or anything. Remember the chicken?" "Yes, I remember the chicken." "You don't think I have anything to do with this do you?" "No honey, of course not. That's why I'm here. I know Ray, and if there's one thing I don't trust, it's him. He wants.... He wants to..." "Dad... You can tell me." James hesitates. "He wants to hunt a witch." Autumn dropped her cup of tea in shock and it shattered across the floor. "That's insane!" "Autumn, honey, calm down. Please." "He can't do that. He just can't." "I know. That's why I'm here. I want to help you. You can come stay with your mother and I for a while. Get away from that man. He can't be trusted. Ray and I... we have done some things that I am not proud of. I'm not the same person I was thirty years ago. Now I can't change the past but I can stop it from happening again." "I'm not running. I'm going to prove him wrong. I'll find some way to prevent this. Honestly, I have been very concerned about what has been going on. A few of my customers have gone missing; and I mean weekly customers. I've visited their homes and there are these symbols that I've never seen before. Jones, the deputy that was killed in that accident, was trying to help me figure out what was going on. He said he was going to meet with Judge Hansen to try and figure out if Ray could take any legal action against me. He was supposed to call me after the meeting but.. The accident.." "I will help you. With anything you need. I won't let him or anyone hurt you." "We'll figure this out dad. Everything will be okay." "I love you sweetie. Ray says he wants to have a few more meetings before officially deciding how to go about all of this. I just know that whatever he plans, it won't end well for you." "Crap, I gotta go open up shop again. Look, you can stay here if you want, I have a spare room you can stay in if you'd like." "I got a hotel room dear, thank you though. Just please, be careful. I'll come back over in the morning." "Alright dad. I love you."

James left Autumn's shop and after getting in his car, he headed back towards the motel. Once back in his room, he pulled his cell phone out of his pocket to call home to check on his wife and son. He sees that he has ten missed calls from his wife and three missed calls from his son as well as five voicemails. He calls his voicemail and what he hears sends chills down his spine. "James! James when are you coming home? There was this strange car creeping down the road past our house. I'm worried." The next few voicemails began to make him worried. His wife said there was a man outside her front door with a hood over his face and she couldn't make out who it was because she was too scared to get close to the door. The last voicemail shocked James to his core. "Don't worry about coming home James. Your family is fine." He heard screaming in the background "I'm taking real good care of them, aren't I Sally dear." James hung up the phone and went to try and call his wife then his son, both said the lines had been disconnected. He quickly got up and grabbed his car keys and as he went to open the door to leave the motel room he was met by a tall figure holding a knife. Before James had a chance to slam the door, the figure launched himself at the defenseless man, stabbing him in the chest. James fell to the floor, blood pouring out of the wound. The figure fell down to the floor with James as he stabbed him one more time before pulling the knife out. He leaned down over the dyeing man and whispered in his ear "We'll continue to let your little girl take blame for our doings and there is nothing you can do about it. She doesn't know that I have control of her. Nothing can stop me. Not even that sheriff of yours." The figure paused while he looked into James's eyes. "You should be scared James. There's no hope for your girl." The figure got up and very slowly dissipated into thin air. James tried to keep his eyes open but he just couldn't. He slowly drifted away into darkness.
