At the cafe

By the time they had reached the cafe, Taehyung was confident that Jungkook did not recognize him at all so his stress dissipated. He was back to his carefree self and started considering Jungkook like any other new person he would meet.

Hoseok, Taehyung and Namjoon were already talking and laughing as they waited for their orders to arrive while Jungkook sat there silently. He did not know what to say nor did he want to. So he opted to stay quiet instead. Namjoon was not as negligent of Jungkook as he seemed to be. He was in fact hoping that one of the two idiots sitting in front of him would notice the quiet boy and approach him on their own. After what felt like hours, his prayers were finally heard and Hoseok was the one to get out of magic spell first to notice Jungkook.

"Jungkookie, You are not sick or something, are you?"

Jungkook raised an eyebrow at the nick name he was just given but brushed it off. He did not want to engage in any argument with someone he had just met. He simply looked up from his lap only to meet Hoseok's concerned face.

"No, I'm okay."

Short and to the point, as usual. Jungkook did not leave any room for the conversation to continue but Namjoon hoped Hoseok does not let it die that quickly. Fortunately, Hoseok being tad bit smarter than Taehyung did not leave the boy alone immediately.

"Oh! That's good then. We do not really know much about you but we would love to. So how old are you?"

Before letting Jungkook reply, Taehyung butt in

"Since when did you become a mother horse?"

Everyone was silent at the remark, for obvious reasons, before Hoseok turned towards Taehyung with a blank face and corrected him monotonously.

"It's mother hen, not mother horse, you uneducated shit!"

"Well if you were so smart you would have known that you are a horse, not a hen, so I had to improvise. You canot be two animals at the same time."

Taehyung's logic made Namjoon face palm unintentionally, while Jungkook was trying his best to keep his laughter unnoticed. The other two however, were completely unaware of that and kept on fighting.

"My dear Tae Tae. I'm really sorry for questioning your selection of words. You are more retarded than I thought you were. I should have expected that from you. Forgive me for not realising that sooner." Hoseok patted Taehyung's head as he retorted. Taehyung swatted his hand away from his head as if it was a hornet.

"We are on the same level, stupid horsey."

Hoseok extended his hand out to Taehyung
"Truce?"
And Taehyung shook it firmly
"Truce."

By the time they were done with their little debate, Jungkook was having difficulty breathing. Tears were formed in his eye because he had been holding in his laugh all that time. Meanwhile, Namjoon was the embodiment of 'I cannot believe I know these idiots'. But his grief was well-neutralized by the fact that in the end, those idiots were the ones who were able to make Jungkook laugh that hard. It turned out that Jungkook had not tuned them out. He had been listening to them so, in a way, he was somewhat involved. And Namjoon considered that a big leap towards Jungkook's improvement.

After he was done with Taehyung, Hoseok turned towards Jungkook and smiled when he saw him wiping his eyes shyly. He did not want to make him feel embarrassed about being caught so as he spoke he made it look like he had not seen Jungkook enjoying.

"Now, what was I saying? Ah, yes! So, how old are you again?"

Hoseok asked as he turned his head from Taehyung to Jungkook who had, now, stabilized himself and was back to being quiet.

"19"

"19? Really! Tae, we finally have dongsaeng!"

Hoseok cheered loudly, hugging Taehyung to the point that he was gasping for air. Jungkook did not understand the reaction yet so he sat silently as confusion portrayed itself beautifully on his face. After their celebration ended Hoseok cleared his throat and spoke.

"Taehyung is 20 and I'm 21. All our friends are either a year or so older than us or the same age. We did not have any one younger than us. But now we have YOU~"

Hoseok ended his emotional speech as he wiped nonexistent tears from his eyes and clapped. Taehyung followed lead, joining him and hugging him as they both looked at Jungkook. Nobody bothered to ask Jungkook if he wanted to be their dongsaeng or not. Not that he seemed to mind it that much. Even if he said he did, his smile would have betrayed him anyways. Namjoon only smiled contently at the sight of the two boys holding each other like proud parents at their child's graduation. He was more than happy with the flow of the situation and for once, he was glad that he was close with the two dumbest people on earth.

I changed the ages of characters a bit. I've gained knowledge of how high school and ages work now 😂
