"River Brandon."

Danny hummed and began switching the television station. "Hmm, okay. Wolfie has never mentioned him before so I don't really know."

Natalia made a sound of understanding. "Okay. You should ask him and see. I would've stayed with him but he sold his house a while back and now stays in a flat with his son. The spare room is filled with clutter and he promised to try and clear it to make space for a bedroom for me. I don't know how long that'll take so that's why I said a month. So, I might stay less than that."

"It's okay. I don't mind you staying with me," he replied, a small smile on his lips. "Can't wait to see you guys and I promise that as soon as Wolfie arrives home, I'll ask him."

"Thanks alot, D. You're saving me looooadss of money since it's so expensive to rent a flat in London," She replied quickly, her voice tinged in excitement.

Danny chuckled softly. "Yeah. I can understand that. So, after Wolfie agrees, when will you guys be coming?"

She hummed thoughtfully and Danny could hear paper rustling once more before she replied. "Well, we're planning on coming next week Wednesday if that's okay."

"Yeah, that's okay. Can't wait to see you guys."

Natalia agreed then said her goodbyes before hanging up.

He smiled and turned back to the telly. He actually couldn't wait to see his friends after so long of hardly speaking to them.

Relationships really took up a lot of time, especially when you're bonded to the person.

After watching some telly, he was gonna do some baking before the pup sapped all of his energy. It was pretty surprising that he wasn't in bed sleeping after that run and swim.

With a low sigh, he switched the channel to some Brooklyn 99 and immersed himself in watching Peralta's and Santiago's interactions.

Noice.

...

Wolfie had just got done completing the rest of the case files when there was a knock at his door.

"Enter!" His voice rang out.

The door opened and the last he wanted to see entered and he barely managed to withhold a sneer as the man's son entered after him.

River

Phoenix

River and Phoenix (Get it?)

As much he disliked River, he wasn't going to take his aggression out on his son because the kid was innocent in all of this.

He wasn't one of those people who mistreated kids because they didn't get along with their parents and it was stupid in his opinion.

River grinned at him and motioned for his son to sit in one of the available chairs around Wolfie's desk; he helped the toddler up in the chair and gave him his phone to watch cartoons while he sat in the next available chair, his eyes locked with Wolfie's.

"Miss me?"

He snorted softly and leaned back in his chair, steepling his fingers together as he stared at the Beta. "To what do I owe the unfortunate pleasure?"

River grinned and ruffled his son's hair fondly. "Have I ever introduced you to my son?" Without waiting for Wolfie to reply, he continued. "Nevermind that, this is Phoenix. Honey, say hello to Mr. Hadrian."

Phoenix's head shot up and he stared at Wolfie with his bold, blue eyes and sent the Alpha a smile. "Hi, Mr. Hadrian. Is it true that you were almost my Papa?"

Wolfie's eyes widened briefly and he glanced at River before looking back at an expectant Phoenix. "Uhhh... I guess?"

Phoenix's smile broadened before he turned back to his cartoon.

"You're really pathetic, you know that?" he murmured softly, knowing that it was too low for Pheonix's to pay attention.

River rose a perfectly manicured eyebrow at him. "Oh really? I have to say that I feel rather insulted that you think of me that way, but could you blame me? Anyone would be lucky to have you as an Alpha and when I saw my chance, I simply took it."

"And that was the right way to go about it?" he retorted lowly. "If you had told me about the pregnancy beforehand, I would've happily supported you and raised him as my own. Instead, you orchestrated some immoral plot that would take that decision from me."

He was barely reigning his temper in and he knew that he should be careful with his words around Phoenix.

The pup may look like he wasn't listening but that was children. They would look like their attention was completely absorbed in what they were doing and when they met up with their friends or went to a family event, they would immediately spill the beans on what they heard.

He sighed softly and averted his eyes from the Beta to look at Phoenix.

"Wolfie."

River's soft voice captured his attention once more and he looked back at the Beta. "Look," he started softly, rustling a hand through his hair. "I get that what I did was wrong but at that moment, I was desperate. All I knew was that I wanted you and I thought that if you realised that I was pregnant that you would just leave me. Wolfi-"

"No," he interjected lowly, cutting the Beta off. "Don't act as if you didn't know what you were doing. River, you're a grown Beta. You know what sort of person I am and that I would've never abandoned you during your pregnancy. Regardless of our past, I was willing to put everything behind me and give you everything that you'll ever want. Hell, I had even thought about Mating with you before I discovered your plans."

As he finished speaking, River's eyes widened in surprise and the Beta rested his hands on the desk and leaned forward.

"Really? Are you being serious?!" he half-yelled, mindful of his son.

Wolfie simply nodded.

River looked seconds away from lurching up out of his seat when Wolfie brought him back down to earth.

"Well that won't be happening any longer because I'm already mated and there's no way that I'll forgive you for what you tried to do. For leading me on for four months with no plans of explaining anything to me. Regardless of how much you regret doing what you did, you still did it and while I can eventually forgive you overtime, there's no way that I'll ever forget."

As he finished speaking, River's face shifted from excited to dejected and the Beta pulled away from the table and leaned back into his seat. "Oh."

Wolfie sighed and he scrubbed a hand down on his face. "River, what did you expect to happen?"

The Beta shrugged and averted his eyes from his, blinking back tears.

Despite everything, Wolfie understood the reasons for River's actions. Even though the Beta's actions left much to be desired, that didn't mean that he couldn't symphatise with him.

Being a single parent was never easy and he knew that the Beta was just trying to give his unborn pup a father. Sure, he went about it the wrong way but still.

"River, I really don't understand this vendetta that you have against me," he murmured. "If you were in my position, you would've reacted the exact same way. So, this whole revenge situation that you've got going on is confusing, plain and simple."

River sniffled and looked at him. "How else could I have gotten you to pay attention to me? After what happened, you completely shut me out." He wiped the tears from his eyes and looked at Phoenix. "All I've ever wanted was the best for him and I knew that you would've been the absolute greatest Father ever. Can you really blame me for that?"

Wolfie remained silent for a beat and when he did reply, it was after staring at the picture of Danny on his desk. "Believe me when I say that I get where you're coming from, but the way you went about it wasn't smart. We're both adults and we could've sat down and talked about it." He looked back at the River. "I'm sorry, River, but I've already moved on. Even if I wanted to give us a shot, it's already too late and I'm not planning on ever leaving my Omega."

He knew that this wouldn't go over well with the Beta. Despite how emotional he seemed about the whole thing, River was very spiteful and his stance was that if he couldn't be happy then no one deserved to.

When they had been together, Wolfie had known how to handle the nasty part of River's personality and had learned to quell it. But now, the Beta seemed even more angsty.

He wondered why the Beta couldn't just move on. He was still young and anyone would give their right arm to Mate with him.

River looked at him and glared.

Just as predicted.

"Oh, so you get your happy ending but not me? You get to Mate with a 'lovely' Omega while I remain Mateless and without a father figure in my son's life," he spat out bitterly.

"All of which is your fault, I might add," he interjected.

River just got up out of his seat and pulled Phoenix up, ignoring the boy's look of curiosity.

Wolfie groaned leaned back. "River," he called out.

The Beta halted and looked back at him, his eyes practically blazing.

"If it's any consolation, I would've happily been a father to Phoenix if you had been honest and I did love you even if we hadn't been together very long."

River's eyes softened briefly and the Beta turned and left through the door. "Screw you!"

Welp! He tried.

He just knew that the Beta was going to be as nasty as he could for the upcoming trial.

Wolfie could remember a time when River was everything he could ever wish for and more. A time when the Beta was one of the people he could imagine himself growing old with.

Flashback

Wolfie looked at River with a grin on his face as the sultry Beta beckoned him forwards and towards their bed in his flat; he propped his knee up on the bed and grabbed hold of the Beta's leg, pulling him down until both of his legs were hanging off of the bed and on either side of Wolfie's knee.

He leaned forward and rested his hands at either side of the Beta's face and leaned closer until his breath was practically caressing River's lips.

"You do know that seducing me never turns out well for you, right?" he drawled lowly, brushing their lips together.

River bit his lip and with a soft hum, he lifted his legs and wrapped them around Wolfie's back. "Who's to say that I don't like what you do to me?" he whispered, moaning softly as the Alpha buried his fingers in his hair.

"Hmmm, Alpha."

Wolfie grinned and pushed their mouths together, aggressively dominating River's lips.

"Hmmm," he hummed and wrapped his arms around Wolfie's neck.

Said Alpha pulled back to momentarily memorise the blissed out expression on the Beta's face.

"Alpha, come on. Take me."

He smirked and nosed a path down the Beta's neck, breathing in his scent. "You want me to take you, huh?" he murmured, placing a kiss on River's ear

"Hmmm mmm. Now. Hard. Please," he begged, forcibly moving Wolfie's head around to face him. "Come on and stop wasting time."

Wolfie chucklef and connected their lips once more even as his hands slid down the Beta's body and towards his trousers.

River happily spread his legs after unwrapping them from behind the Alpha's back.

He couldn't wait for Wolfie to enter him.

😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳

The sun's rays caressed their sunscreen ridden skin as Wolfie gave River a piggyback ride.

They were walking the streets of Venice and the Beta had pretty much whined after they came off the ferry so Wolfie had suggested a piggyback ride just to get him to stop yammering.

"Oh wow! Babe, look!" he yelled in excitement, pointing at where a group was playing their instruments in the middle of the street.

Wolfie smiled at walked over to said group while River playfully kicked his sides.

River grinned broadly and jumped off of the Alpha's back to run over to the group as one of the members because dancing. "You're too slow!"

Wolfie watched him go with an affectionate smile on his face; he snorted as River began dancing with little girl who was began laughing as the member who was dancing joined them in a three way dance.

He loved to see the Beta carefree like this.

"Wolfie come on! Join us!" He yelled out, looking at the Alpha with sparkling eyes as he continued dancing.

How the fuck could he resist that?

Wolfie looked on as tears gathered in River's eyes as the Beta carefully gathered the little boy and his sister in his arms while their weakened mother looked on.

They were in China for their vacation and stumbled upon a woman and her two children begging for money or food on the streets with people walking by them, unaffected.

River couldn't bear to ignore them and without saying a word to Wolfie, he approached them and crouched down to their height, a pained smile on his face as he looked into the woman's eyes as she begged him for help.

Wolfie stalked forward and helped the woman up, mindful of how thin and weak she appeared.

She began speaking in Chinese and he softly responded.

In his life of work, it was smart to know multiple languages because you never know who would walk into your office.

"T-Thank you."

"No need. It's what a decent human being does," he replied softly, following after River who turned around and began walking back down the route to their hotel room.

"Babe, we've got to help them."

Wolfie nodded.

He wasn't going to try and dissuade the Beta from helping these people.

River could think for himself, so Wolfie would just follow along unless it was dangerous for the Beta.

25 minutes later

They finally arrived back at their hotel and had entered their room with their now sleeping guests.

Wolfie had had to carry the woman the rest of the way back because she was too weak to keep on balancing her weight.

He wasn't even surprised and had simply hefted her into his arms without any complaints.

After arriving at their hotel, they had orded a shit ton of meals to be delivered within the next 35 minutes and were now waking the children and their mother up to freshen up in the meantime.

River had offered to bathe the children while their mother attended to herself.

The woman happily agreed and allowed Wolfie to lead her to the bathe while River got some spare toothbrushes for the children to brush their teeth until their Mum finished bathing herself seeing as there was only one bathroom.

Minutes later

After they had freshened up, the food had already arrived so Wolfie and River watched in amazement as they ate as much food as they could fit into their mouths.

It was pretty obvious how much they had been starving and he honestly felt sorry for them.

The Government could easily help people in their situation but they obviously didn't care.

Could you imagine how helpful it would be to set homeless people up in workshops so that they could have a skill in order to provide for themselves?

People always said that Education was the key to making something of yourself but that wasn't true on all occasions.

You still needed someone to give you the opportunity before you could start working on advancing yourself.

So after the trio had ate their fill, they had fallen asleep on their bed and River began looking for a way to help them before they left China.

He didn't want them to have to go back on the streets and starve.

Wolfie had honestly never loved the Beta as much as he did in this instant.

End of Flashback

After that, River had managed to rent an apartment for the family to stay and because the money conversion was so high, the Beta had paid for two years rent of the apartment while the woman worked on helping herself and her children.

He had even left them with 100,000 yuan to help buy groceries after taking them to buy new clothing and supplies.

Wolfie had even given them 200, 000 as it was no inconvenience to him.

They had both left China with light hearts and hoped that the woman would work on helping her little family.

Yeah, those were the good days.

Now, River was like a demon on the search of blood.

It was heartbreaking to see the beautiful Beta acting this way but what the hell could he do? He loved Danny with all of his heart and he wasn't going to leave the Omega for River, sympathy or not.

Danny was his world now and River had already gotten his chance.

He had obviously screwed that up and now he was trying to blame Wolfie for his mistakes.

Pssh.

He wasn't even going to entertain the thought of the Beta any longer.

Not when he had his pregnant Omega at home, waiting for him.

Right now, he needed to call the clients for the cases he had accepted and give the remainder to his co-workers.

The case against him by his parents wouldn't be held until next year January so he had a bit of time before then.

"Hmm... I'll call Mrs. Pendergast now."

...

Danny yawned and placed the pans of cake batter into the oven; he had decided on making Ducana which was sweet potato pudding taught to him by his granny, bread pudding, Vanilla sponge cake and a chocolate cake.

He had thought about making some brownies but decided against it. Wolfie had enough desserts to last him at least two to three days before he needed to bake again.

After putting all the pans into both ovens, he set a timer for 15 minutes then went back into the living room.

He preffered to check the oven every 15 minutes to make sure that everything was baking and raising correctly.

If the cakes flopped, he would know early and take them out to do them over because there was no way that he was serving raw cake to his Alpha.

Entering the living room, he decided on tallying up the scores for the game he created after uploading it to a creative website.

5 minutes later

After doubling checking the scores, the winners were:
