"All I want to be is your Ada."

————————————————————

Peter immediately kissed her back.

"Do you believe in soulmates?"

"Yeah," she said quietly, "Yeah, I guess I do. Do you?"

"Without a doubt."

His hands flew out from his pockets to grab her shoulders and bring her closer — closer than humanely possible — to him. His hand went from gripping her shoulders to gently holding her neck to tangling his fingers through her hair and cupping the back of her head. His other arm went around her waist, crashing her small body against his. He couldn't get her close enough to him.

"I think people who find their soulmates are lucky," he continued, "Like winning the lottery."

"But how do you know if someone is your soulmate? What if you're wrong?"

Fireworks exploded in the skies all around them as everyone celebrated the new year, but they hardly noticed as the vibrations thundered through the ground.

Adelaide hung her arms around his shoulders, holding onto the nape of his neck as he pulled her closer and closer to him. The kiss was passionate, but urgent. So even when they couldn't seem to catch their breath, they physically couldn't pull away from each other.

When they were kissing, no one else existed but them. It felt like they were the only two people in this world and instead of feeling loneliness, there was only happiness. So much happiness.

"Your heart is never wrong. You just...know."

"Fuck. Say it again," Peter demanded breathlessly against her lips, squeezing his eyes shut. Adelaide tried to stop her mind from spinning long enough to remember how to speak again.

"I love you too, Peter Park—"

Peter cut her off, kissing her again. And again. And again. And again.

There was pain in his kisses, as if he was remembering all times he wanted her but couldn't have her. As if he was remembering all those moments when he almost lost her or thought she had left him for good. As if he had realized that there would never be another moment as beautiful as this one in his life again. As if he thought that those three words she had said to him were just a beautiful lie and she would slip from his fingers again.

"It's like there's a force pulling you together from any two corners of the world."

Adelaide felt a lump in her throat and the sadness flooded through her until she had to pull back enough to breathe. Peter held her closely in his arms, tightly pressing his forehead against hers.

"I'm sorry," she said, her voice cracking and the tears falling over, "I'm so sorry I hurt you. I-I never meant to but—"

"It's okay," he breathed gently, "It's okay, Ada."

He wiped her tears away and kissed her softly again. More fireworks boomed around them, their echoes thundering in their chests. The color lit up the dark night sky and made the snow flurries sparkle like diamonds falling from above.

"Your heart just tells you when you meet the right person."

Adelaide felt like she was falling from the sky like a snow flurry. She felt so warm that all the sadness from her heart melted away in those tender, loving moments. She was loved. By Peter. And that meant the world to her.

Peter lifted her off the ground as he kissed her deeply, crushing her body against his until it was almost painful. She wrapped her legs around him and held onto him for support. Adelaide laughed in happiness, dropping her head against his. Peter loved the sound of her laugh in that moment. He had never heard her laugh like that before. It was so...free and light and...happy. It was the most beautiful sound he had ever heard in his life.

"Ada?" he said softly.

"Hm?"

"I'm lucky I met you."

Their mouths moved together in sync. The urgency translated through the kiss like a wildfire. Her hair fell past her shoulders, brushing against his face and she quickly tucked it behind her ear, not willing to stop kissing him for even a moment.

Adelaide felt lightning traveling through her veins as Peter confidently moved his lips against hers.

He pulled her lower lip between his, kissing her urgently. He was kissing her like it was something he had imagined before a million times. And Peter had—except, it never felt nearly as good as the real feeling of Ada's soft lips against his own. Adelaide felt the world spin around her like a carnival ride. She held onto him like a lifesaver until they both had to pull away for air.

They rested their foreheads against each other's, breathless.

"I'm lucky I found you too, Pete," she whispered, leaning forward to rest her head on his shoulder.

Peter smiled to himself.

Fireworks were still going off all around them and they could feel them booming deep in their hearts. The rush of dopamine sent a spark down her spine. Together, they looked up at the lights reigning the sky and couldn't help but feel that they were celebrating more than just the new year.

Peter chuckled breathlessly and she did the same, closing her eyes again. Despite it being so frigid outside, Peter's warmth had made her forget everything up to her own name. She carefully jumped back down to her feet again, still not willing to let go of him. His hands moved until he was cupping her face with both hands, forcing her to look at him.

She did, running her eyes over his flushed face and soft swollen lips. There was a tiny snowflake on the tip of his nose. Her heart lurched.

He was beautiful. And he was hers.

Peter tried to catch his breath before he said anything. He closed his eyes.

"You love me...too?" he breathed in question. Adelaide laughed softly, still out of breath. She swallowed.

"I know you were born...with your heart already broken. But the world began in pieces and somehow...made itself whole," she whispered and Peter's breath hitched. Adelaide looked at him as she spoke. "And...I know how much this is going to hurt. But it's too late for me to...get off this collision course."

"Tomorrow I will tell you that I love you. And...nothing in the world can stop the maddening rush...of these three words," she breathed.

Peter swallowed, moving his forehead against hers.

"You...You heard that?" he whispered ever so softly. Adelaide pulled her hands from the back of his neck to gently hold his face with both hands. She suddenly knew how much power she had over him. How delicate it felt to hold his heart in her hands. All she wanted to do was protect him from ever getting hurt again. Especially from her.

"I heard all of it, love," she whispered, gently rubbing the pad of her thumb over his cheek, "I was just too scared to tell you before."

I'll always be the luckiest guy in the world to have met you, Ada. You're my one in a billion.

I want her to know that she doesn't have to run away when things get too messy and that she's not alone.

"And now you're not?" he asked quietly. Adelaide smiled, pushing the curl away from his forehead and back into his hair.

She looked back down at his nervous eyes again. Instead of feeling fear, all she felt was calm. She had longed for this feeling for ages. She felt like she was floating in the middle of the peaceful ocean with no destination. She didn't need a destination. As long as she had Peter, they would make a path themselves.

"I'm still terrified. But my fear is a grain of sand when I compare it to how much I love you, Pete. No matter how hard things get or how much all of this scares me, all I know is that I want to be with you. Forever, if you'll let me," she smiled. Peter opened his eyes, smiling down at her with the biggest smile she had ever seen on his face.

And maybe if it hadn't been so dark outside, she might not have mistaken the tears glistening in his eyes for the light.

Slowly, he leaned down and softly pressed his lips against hers again.

This time, the kiss was much more gentle and slow. Ada was finally, finally, finally his to keep. He had waited a long time to kiss her and hold her in his arms and call her his. And now that it was all of a sudden a reality, he found it difficult to just keep his balance and stand on his own two feet.

"God, I-I love you so much," he whispered lowly against her mouth without stopping kissing her, "You have no idea."

Her heart skipped a beat at the honesty in his voice. She knew he loved her with all his heart and she knew that he would love her more than anyone had ever done so before. Most of all, she knew that if there was anyone in the world who would be allowed to ever own her heart, it was Peter Parker.

Her first and last love.

Adelaide smiled against his lips before slowly pulling back to look at him. Their noses touched. His warm brown eyes smiled at her.

"I know," she whispered, gently brushing her thumb across his cheekbone. "I'm yours now, Pete. All I want to be is your Ada."

His ears had yearned to hear those words for so long. He closed his eyes and leaned in, kissing her mouth again. It was the most gentle kiss. The urgency was long gone. Now he knew she was his, Peter took his time, exploring her lips with his. Adjusting to the feeling of kissing Ada. He would never get used to it. Every time he kissed her it was like the first time all over again.

When Peter finally pulled away, were no words to say. He had said it perfectly with the way he had kissed her.

So they both just looked at each other, drinking up each other's existence. They were just two teenagers so madly in love, that it felt impossible to even look away from each other's eyes. It was just the two of them, standing here in the snow on New Year's Day, smiling not because they wanted to, but because they couldn't stop even if they tried.

"Happy new year, love," he smiled, gently tucking her hair behind her ear.

"Happy new year," she whispered.

"Let's just...Let's go somewhere," he said suddenly, "Just the two of us. No one else."

"Mm, I like that idea," she said quietly, grinning as she ran her fingers through his hair along the nape of his neck. Peter smiled, gripping her waist.

"Good," he whispered, "Because I had a place in mind."

—————

Peter landed them on the top of the Empire State Building.

"Still scared of the height here?" he asked her quietly as their feet steadied on the floor. It was still snowing lightly, but as long as Peter's arms were around her, the cold could never touch her. Adelaide smiled.

"I'm not scared as long as you're here with me," she said, sitting down on the ledge where they sat last time. Peter smiled, sitting down beside her.

"Okay, maybe I'm a little scared," she admitted when she looked down. They were just so high up. Her palms began to sweat. Peter chuckled.

He wrapped his arm around her shoulders, pulling her closer. Adelaide rested her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes, inhaling deeply. He was so warm. This was peace. What had she been so afraid of before? With Peter, everything was always very clear. She loved him and nothing would change that.

"Ada?"

"Hm?"

"I-I know you're still scared...about us. But I just want you to know that I'm not leaving. I know everything there is to know about you and it doesn't scare me. And whatever happens in the future will happen. We'll get through it together, I promise. You don't ever have to worry about me leaving," he said. She smiled softly into his shoulder.

"I know, Pete," she whispered, "I know."

Peter held her even closer and kissed the top of her head before looking back up at the view of the city as snow fell over it.

"I love you," he whispered, "So much."

Adelaide now understood that the people who loved her didn't see her as a burden. Rather, they happily took the burdens off of her shoulders and carried them without complaint. Loving someone never meant that they were perfect. It meant that they were flawed but you loved them anyway.

And she knew for a fact that Peter loved her.

He loved her a lot. So much, that it terrified her. She was scared of letting him down. But if she tried to wait for the right time to fall in love, it would never happen. The fear of being in love and being loved was just part of the deal.

So it was time she gave Peter a chance. It was time she gave herself a chance.

Because she damn well deserved it.

"And I love you more," Adelaide smiled.

And as they both sat there, on the top of the Empire State Building, Adelaide suddenly realized something. Even though it had been plenty of time since midnight and this specific moment wasn't particularly different, it suddenly hit her.

She was sitting beside the love of her life on New Year's Day. Peter was finally hers.

Maybe life really could be beautiful sometimes.

—————

"So how are we going to do this?" she asked him after a while of sitting in silence and enjoying the view. The snow had start to build up around them, but both teenagers were too comfortable to move from their positions. Just a little longer, they both thought.

"Do what?" he asked, sounding lost in thought.

"Us," she chuckled, "Do we tell everyone we're dating now?"

Peter thought about it for a moment. If they told everyone, things wouldn't feel as...exciting. There would be too many rules of May found out. Ada wouldn't be able to hang out as much and maybe even Mr. Stark would make rules so that he wouldn't be able to see her as much as before. Besides, things were finally somewhat settled between him and Ada. He didn't want anyone else to know about them just yet and mess it all up even before they had a chance to figure it out themselves.

He wanted to keep her his little secret for just a bit longer.

"We could," he said slowly, "Or we could not and keep this between us for now."

"And why would we do that?" she asked, grinning. Peter gently pressed his index finger under her chin and turned her face so she was looking at him before leaning down and capturing her mouth with his.

"Because, Ada," he whispered softly against her lips, "I want to keep you all to myself."

Adelaide felt her stomach flip and she tried to fight the blush that creeped onto her face. She bit her lip, eyes mischievously darting around his face. She glanced at his lips.

"In that case, I'm all yours, bugboy," she grinned, kissing him again. He tangled his cold fingers in her hair, tilting her head up to kiss her more deeply. He would never ever get sick of this feeling.

"It's late," Peter murmured softly against her lips, "We should probably go home."

"But I don't want to go home," Adelaide frowned immediately, moving closer to him to rest her head on his shoulder again.

Peter smiled down at the top of her head. She was right. He didn't want to have to leave her. All he wanted right now was to keep holding her like this.

"Well, what are you going to tell Mr. Stark?" he asked. She thought about it and then shrugged.

"That I'm spending the night at your place," she said.

"I don't think that would go over so well with him..." Peter mumbled. Adelaide frowned. He was right. Tony wouldn't exactly be eager to hear that. She needed something else.

"I'll tell him I'm spending the night at Viv's," she said, sitting up straight again to look at him. Peter scrunched up his eyebrows in confusion.

"You mean...lie to Mr. Stark?" he asked. Adelaide rolled her eyes.

"Yes, that would require lying to Mr. Stark," she said mockingly, "But he would never suspect a thing. I would just have to call Vivian and tell her just in case he called her or something."

"Ada...I'm not so—"

Adelaide cut him off, kissing him as hard as she could. She reached up and cupped his face with her hand, tilting her head to kiss him harder. When she pulled away, they both were out of breath. Peter pressed his forehead against hers and closed his eyes as he tried to catch his breath. His eyes looked confused.

"For future reference," he breathed, "I'll do just about anything if you convince me like that."

A/N: SOO?? WHAT?? DO YOU?? THINK????

DOES THIS MAKE UP FOR HOW LONG I MADE YOU ALL WAIT? probably not, but hopefully the million more kisses and soft moments about to come will make up for it

i really wanted this to be a sensory scene so that you feel like you're right there with him or that you are adie and you're experiencing this thrill. also the fact that in the last chapter there was a literal countdown and in here there were fireworks and snow and a new year!!

so i watched infinity war last night and?? there were no?? tears???

like i thought i was gonna SOB when peter died but nothing, nada, not even a single tear. i'm officially dead inside. i mean, it's most likely because i know how it'll all work out in the end, but there's a chance that it's because i'm dead inside. i'm watching endgame tonight and istg if i don't cry at the you-know-what scene, IM GONNA GO BINGE SUPER SAD MARVEL EDITS TO MAKE MYSELF CRY

i've also been super busy with getting ready for school and i'm finally gonna be living in a dorm (!!) in a couple weeks but i have no idea what to expect and i'm getting radio silence from my roommate so that's great. either way, i'm just really excited to get on campus and finally get the real college experience!

anyway, i hope this chapter felt exciting bc we all know how long we've been waiting for this moment so i had to make it extra dramatic with fireworks and snow and new years and the empire state building, special for you guys :)

question: what are some cute padie moments you're looking forward to? :)

see you guys next wednesday! 💛

p.s. i'm thinking of starting a vlog, but i'm not too sure about how to do it. anyone here have a vlog and mind sharing some ideas/tips?
