JANUARY 20, 2017
SECOND WEEK OF THE NEW SCHOOL SEMESTER

Ever since they had started dating three weeks ago, it was impossible to keep their hands off of each other.

Even if they were just innocently sitting in the cafeteria, Peter would sit right beside her with his leg pressing against hers and it would drive her crazy to the point where sometimes she couldn't even pay attention to what Vivian was talking to her about because her heart was racing so fast. When they were standing in the hallway, it was the same deal. Rarely could they stand more than an inch apart from each other.

Or when they were sitting beside each other in class and Peter would just innocently rest his hand on her knee, knowing damn well that it made it impossible for her to concentrate on the teacher. Even when they just walked past each other in the hallway, she would just brush his arm and Peter couldn't stop thinking about it for the next hour. Or when she absentmindedly licked her lips and all Peter was capable of thinking of was doing the same to her.

Sometimes, all it took was catching each other's eye across the room and next thing they knew, they would have to make a bathroom excuse to sneak out of class only to find an empty hallway to make out in.

Like this morning, for example.

Adelaide's back hit the wall as Peter kissed her hard.

No one was ever in this hallway at school, so they were fine. Besides, it was just so hard to not want to kiss Peter all day. Especially today when he showed up this morning wearing that cologne she'd bought for him. She could literally make out with him all day. And that's exactly what she had been planning to do.

"What if..." Peter started, tilting his head further to kiss her more deeply, "someone...walks by?" It took a minute for the words to actually reach her brain as she was so focused on the feeling of his lips against hers.

"Let them," she mumbled, pulling him closer by the hair. He chuckled, gripping her waist. He kissed the corner of her mouth and then, to her disappointment, he pulled away. It took Adelaide a moment to snap out of her daze.

"What?" she breathed, slightly annoyed. He gave her a lopsided grin.

"Empty classroom?" he said, slightly out of breath too. Adelaide noticed how swollen his lips looked and she scolded herself for stopping their make-out session even it was Peter who had stopped it. Life was too short to stop kissing him. Even for a moment.

"Fine," she mumbled, pushing herself off the wall, "C'mon."

She led him around the corner to a hallway where they used to have the art classes before they moved them upstairs. Looking around to make sure that no one was there, she grabbed the first door and turned the handle.

"Дерьмо. It's locked," she groaned, turning to him. He frowned, looking up and down the hall.

Adelaide watched him as he looked around. How the hell did he look so hot just standing there? She could just push him against this wall and-

"There's cameras here," he mumbled and then Adelaide noticed them too. Their school did have a no-make-out-hands-to-yourself policy. And if word got to Tony that she had been making out with Peter instead of going to class, she would never ever ever hear the end of it from him.

"I have an idea," she said, "Give me your credit card."

"Um...okay," he said, pulling out his wallet. He flipped it open and inside there was an old picture of him when he was a baby, sitting with May and Ben. Adelaide smiled as he handed her his card.

"Aw, you looked so cute when you were a baby," she teased, "What happened, Parker?"

Peter narrowed his eyes at her, "Do you want me to go back to class?"

Adelaide rolled her eyes, taking his card. She brought her powers to her fingertips and made them both invisible before pressing her lips to his, hard. God, the smell of his cologne was driving her absolutely crazy. He made a noise deep in his throat that almost sounded like a little laugh.

"No, sir. I need you and your lips here," she mumbled, pulling away and crouching down to slide the card into the slot. Then the door opened like magic.

She blindly reached for his hand and urgently pulled him into the dark classroom and closed the door behind him before making them visible again.

"Now, what was that about me being cute?" he said, smirking slightly. Adelaide pushed herself up on the countertop, leaving her feet hanging on the side. The only light coming into the room was from the small window in the back door.

"I was saying," she said, taking his hands and pulling him towards her, "That you look even cuter now than when you were a baby. Happy?"

Peter laughed and cupped her face, pressing his lips to hers again. She hummed contentedly. This was so much better than physics class.

He stood between her legs, holding the back of her waist and pulling her into him. She could feel his abs pressing against her stomach. She tangled her fingers in his hair as usual, not caring that he'd have make-out hair afterwards. Besides, she was pretty sure that her hair already looked like that anyway.

"You're pretty cute yourself, Rivers," he mumbled against her lips.

-----

When they finally returned to the cafeteria, they had only minutes before the bell rang for their next class.

"Oh look who decided to show up," Ned said as they both sat down at their usual lunch table, across from each other. They grinned at each other from across the table, still slightly out of breath from what they were doing together earlier. "You guys have been so busy with that super-secret project lately."

"Yeah and they won't even tell us what it is," Vivian said.

"I told you, Viv," Adelaide breathed, "We're not allowed to tell you."

"Yeah, yeah, whatever," Ned mumbled, "Anyway, so you guys are all coming after school right?"

Peter had already told Ned that he was in love with Ada, and Ned had been there the night they made up, but when Ned later asked him how things went that night, Peter lied and said they both decided to just be friends instead. Ned seemed to feel bad for him but that was three weeks ago and Peter was more than okay so Ned didn't bring it up with either one of them again.

"To what?" Adelaide asked with a frown. Ned gave her a look of disdain as if he couldn't believe she had forgotten.

"To the re-opening of Delmar's," Ned reminded her like she should have remembered. Adelaide did remember, but it was kind of hard to think straight when her mind was still back in that art room...

"Oh," she said, "Yeah."

"You both don't have to work on your confidential project this afternoon, do you?" Ned said. Peter caught her eye across the table, not bothering to hide the grin on his face. Adelaide bit her lip to keep herself from laughing.

"No, Ned," Peter said, "I promise we'll be there. It's Mr. Delmar, I wouldn't miss it for the world."

-----

Apparently, Ada was more than the world.

Because they were both currently hiding together in a janitor's closet after school, having completely lost track of time.

Adelaide's phone rang first, but she fished for it in the pocket of her jeans and turned it off without breaking the kiss. A few seconds later, Peter's phone began ringing, but she blindly reached into the back pocket of his khakis and turned it off for him. When she left her hands there on his back pockets, Peter smiled against her mouth and tilted his head. She felt his lips tugging at her lower lip and she let him take over the kiss. He swiped his tongue along her lip at an agonizingly slow pace. She whined quietly in complaint and he chuckled.

"Sorry," he mumbled against her mouth.

"Mm, I could kiss you all day," she sighed contently, sliding her hands into his back pockets.

"I wouldn't stop you," he mumbled.

His phone began ringing again and Peter sighed, pulling back to see who it was. Ned. He glanced at Ada apologetically and answered it.

"Hey, man," he answered, slightly out of breath.

"Where are you?" Ned asked.

Peter was about to answer him when he felt Ada kissing the corner of his mouth. He felt her tongue lightly poking his lips. When he gave her a look, she just grinned at him.

"Peter?" Ned said on the phone. Ada began leaving a trail of hot kisses along his jawline. Her hands slid out of his back pockets, up his back, and snaked around his neck, into his hair. He tilted his head to the side when her lips reached the corner of his jawline, just below his ear. Peter was reminded of how easy it was to forget the rest of the world when Ada was there with him.

Especially when she did this to him.

"Y-Yeah," he stuttered, his eyes fluttering closed.

"Viv and I are here and Mr. Delmar is about to cut the ribbon," Ned told him. Ned could have told him the world was ending and Peter wouldn't have heard him. Hell, the president of the United States could have been calling him and Peter would have put him on hold. "And do you know where Adelaide is?"

Wrapped around me, Peter thought as she captured his mouth with hers again, but only briefly, leaving him longing for more. He decided to save poor Ned from a heart attack and lie instead.

"N-No c-clue," he said, giving her a hard look. This just seemed to amuse her further.

"Maybe if you call her, she'll pick up," Ned said, "Just get here, okay? You both were the ones who said we had to be here."

"Yeah, Pete," she whispered teasingly in his ear, her lips brushing against his earlobe as she spoke. "Maybe you should call me." She took his earlobe between her lips briefly. Peter gritted his teeth and he had to use every muscle in his body to hold himself back from kissing her as hard as he could just to shut her up.

"I really gotta go, man," he breathed impatiently into the phone before hanging up. He had a girlfriend he needed to tend to urgently and he had a feeling she couldn't wait much longer.

Peter immediately scooped her up into his arms and picked her up off the floor, kissing her so hard that she couldn't tell her up from down. The kiss was rough and fast and she could tell he was getting her back for teasing him. Adelaide wasn't complaining- not at all. She felt the cold door against her back and when Peter finally pulled back for some air, she dropped her forehead against his, laughing quietly.

"I'd apologize, but I'm not sorry," she grinned.

"I don't even care," Peter mumbled distractedly, kissing her again.

-----

They made it to Delmar's just moments before he cut the ribbon.

"Where have you been?" Vivian asked when she felt Adelaide colliding against her in the small crowd surrounding the deli. The girl was admittedly out of breath for all the wrong reasons.

"Crazy traffic. You wouldn't believe," she breathed, "Has it started?"

"Almost," Vivian said. Adelaide glanced over at Peter who was talking to Ned a few feet away. Probably coming up with an excuse of his own, she thought. Just then, the crowd began murmuring loudly and she pushed herself to her toes to look over everyone's heads to see what they were murmuring about.

"What's happening?" Vivian asked, trying to see as well.

"Oh! He's cutting the ribbon!" Adelaide said, just as the scissors cut through it.

The crowd burst into cheers and applaud. The four teenagers joined them. After some Chitauri tech had landed in the wrong hands, it had accidentally burned down Mr. Delmar's store many months ago. If hadn't been for Peter, she might have died in the fire that night.

"Free subs for the first twenty-five customers!" Mr. Delmar shouted and everyone applauded even more loudly.

"I can't believe you used to work here," Vivian said as everyone formed a line around the corner. Adelaide shrugged.

"Well, I didn't really have much of a choice," she said. Vivian smiled sympathetically at her and then she suddenly frowned. "What?" The girl leaned forward, sniffing her shoulder.

"Why do you smell like...cologne?" Vivian asked her. Adelaide's eyes widened slightly.

"I gave her my jacket earlier," Peter said smoothly, stepping in between them. She glanced at him, wondering how he had come up with a lie so quickly.

"Y-Yeah, I was cold," she told Vivian.

"Oh look, we're next in line," Peter said before she could reply. Ned took Vivian's attention, telling her something about a cool sandwich combo he had read about online.

"Nice save," she mumbled to Peter.

"Don't worry," he grinned, bumping his shoulder against hers, "I'll teach you how to lie as well as me."

-----

"Adelaide! Peter!" Mr. Delmar greeted cheerily when he saw them. At the mention of her name, Julio - her old co-worker - looked over his shoulder. He greeted her with a scoff.

"Hey Mr. Delmar," she smiled, "Congrats. Everything looks so new."

"Yeah," Peter agreed, "Everything looks really great here."

"Yeah, it was due for a renovation," he shrugged and then he pointed at her, "Let me guess. Number nine with no mushrooms and no pickles?"

She grinned, "You remembered!"

"I may be getting old, but sandwiches run in my blood," he said with a proud grin. He turned to Peter, trying to remember his order. "Number five with pickles and- smushed down flat, eh?"

"That's the one," Peter grinned.

"So, how's school been going?" Mr. Delmar asked her. A memory from a few minutes ago flashed in her mind. Particularly one occurring in the janitor's closet. Her cheeks flushed.

"School's great," she answered, "Better than ever."

"Oh yeah?" Mr. Delmar said with a smile, "And how's your aunt?"

"She's doing great," Peter said with a knowing grin. Mr. Delmar nodded.

"That's ten dollars," he said. Peter frowned.

"But I didn't even say anything this time!" he argued. The man gave him a look.

"He's messing with you," she said, bumping his arm with her elbow, "First twenty-five people eat free, right?"

"That's right," Mr. Delmar laughed, "Pay attention in school, kid."

Peter laughed too. If only Mr. Delmar knew how hard it was to pay attention to anything nowadays. He handed them their receipt.

"It was good seeing you two," he said, "You kids take care, alright?"

"You too, Mr. Delmar," Peter said as they moved down the line so Vivian and Ned could order their sandwiches. Ned wasn't as close with Mr. Delmar as he and Ada were, but Peter had brought him here a few times before, so he was a familiar face to Mr. Delmar. He and Ada went over to grab their orders as Ned introduced Vivian to Mr. Delmar.

"I can't believe I almost died here," Adelaide said, thinking out loud. Peter squeezed her hand reassuringly for a moment and pulled away before someone saw. They took their subs. "I think I'm starting to lose track of how many times you've saved my life."

"It was nothing compared to how many ways you've saved mine," he said quietly to her. She smiled at him.

"Come on, let's find somewhere to sit," she said. Peter pointed to a booth tucked away in the corner that wasn't occupied and they went over there and settled down, holding seats for Ned and Vivian. They both opened up their subs. Adelaide winced when she saw Julio had accidentally (or purposefully, who could tell) put pickles in hers.

"What's wrong?" Peter asked.

"Julio put pickles in mine. Этот засранец," she grimaced, "I hate pickles." (This asshole.)

"Here, just give them to me," Peter said, opening his sub up. She put the slices from hers into his sub.

Just then, Ned and Vivian joined them, sitting down together on the other side of the booth. They were in the middle of discussing if pineapples should be allow on pizza. Immediately, Peter and Adelaide both looked at each other.

"On three?" Peter said. She nodded. "One...two..."

"No."

"Yes."

They both looked at each other, thoroughly offended.

"How can you like pineapples on pizza? It's a fruit! Fruit doesn't belong on pizza," Peter argued. Adelaide rolled her eyes. She knew he would argue that.

"Tomato is a fruit," she said, "So what, you're not gonna put sauce on your pizza now?"

They went on arguing that way pointlessly for a few more minutes, leaving Ned and Vivian both sorry that they had ever brought up the topic. Those two could talk (or argue) about anything for hours once they got started. Eventually, Ned forced them to call a truce and they decided to agree to disagree. For now.

"What we should be discussing is our decathlon competition coming up," Vivian said, "MJ said we need to get a head count on who's going this time. After what happened last time..."

Peter and Adelaide both glanced at each other, thinking of when they had last been to DC. Things had ended in screaming and fire and tears. And also with Flash hugging their trophy. He had gotten way to attached to that thing.

"Where are they keeping it this time?" Adelaide asked, taking a sip of her soda. The other three teenagers shrugged.

"Not sure. Mr. Harrington's keeping a meeting tomorrow after school about it," Ned said.

"I just hope the place doesn't have any elevators," Peter shuddered.

-----

"Honey, I'm home!" Adelaide sang as she entered the penthouse.

She threw her backpack onto the sofa and made her way to the kitchen for some after-school chocolates.

"In here!" she heard Tony reply from somewhere down the hall. A moment later, "Bring me a beer!"

She grabbed a couple dark chocolates from the fridge and popped one in her mouth before grabbing his beer and heading down the hall. The door to Tony and Pepper's room was wide open. Adelaide leaned against the door frame, watching the two of them struggle to decide which colored napkin they wanted for their wedding. White or white?

"Hey, you just missed Pepper doing a backflip," Tony said.

"I did not just do a backflip," she argued with a sigh. They looked like they had been going over this for hours. "God, Tony, why is this so hard?"

"Because they're both the same exact color," he groaned, "We've been over this."

"We have been over this. This is ivory and this is cream," Pepper said tiredly holding up both swatches for him as if it was the millionth time she had repeated that sentence. Adelaide squinted. They both just looked white to her. Tony and Adelaide both shared a look. His eyes said help!

Adelaide decided to save him.

"Hey, Tony, I need your help with uh..."

"With that thing we were talking about yesterday?" he said.

"Yeah...yeah, that," she said. He stood up eagerly, hurrying
