"Niko, she isn't here! I have checked the entire building myself four fucking times, our men are all over the place!" Marco yelled over the phone, "She isn't here!"

I got off my seat, "Well, fucking check the building again! How could you let this happens, Marco? If something happened to her, You are a dead man, you're a fucking dead man!"

I hung up and called her cell phone instead. It rang and rang and rang but she didn't fucking pick up. I hung up and called Alessandro. Agitation rolled off me, I needed a fucking drink but I needed my wife more.

"Niko?" his cold voice came through the phone.

"I want you to track my wife's phone, NOW!"

"Give me ten minutes."

Hanging up, I went out of my office. Did someone get to her? If someone fucking kidnapped her again I'm going to burn the entire fucking New York City to the ground. Shit! How could I let this happen, I fucking promised her I won't let it happen again.

I went down the elevator and it annoyed me how fucking slow it was going down. The second the door opened, I went out of the building and dashed towards my car.

I stepped on the accelerator pedal and sped out of there to get to Evangeline's college. I drove recklessly around the city, I didn't care if I fucking crashed, I needed to get there. If anyone touches her, if anyone tried to hurt her, they better fucking prepare for the most painful death anyone has ever seen.

Restlessness and suspicion gnawed at my chest. The possibility that it could be my father fucked with my mind. I surprised myself when the thought of killing my own father crossed my mind if he had hurt her.

I dialed Scott's number and he picked up after a single ring, "Niko?"

"Get to my father's place, see how is he doing, and ask him if he had something to do with Evangeline's disappearance."

"On it."

I left the car in the middle of the road with its engine still running. I saw Marco digging through Evangeline's bag. I strode to him and he looked up at me pulling something out of her bag.

"What is it?!"

Marco frowned, "It's a burner phone, Niko."

I snatched it out of his hand and checked it. Burner phone? Why the fuck would Evangeline have a burner phone? How the fuck would she get it?

"Do you think it belongs to whoever took her?" I asked, looking through her bag to find something useful, something I could use that could lead me to the man who took her.

"I think it does, I have sent one of our men to go look at this morning's security footage."

"Evangeline has a friend, Layla, or something fucking like that. Have you seen that girl? Have you asked her anything about Evangeline?"

"I had no idea what she looked like. I didn't even know anything about it. Whoever she is, she must have left the campus hours ago."

"Fuck!"

"Don Niko," a man came running towards us, "They are asking for you in the security room."

I followed them to the security room of the college, D'Angelo was already there. He paled as he saw me, "I have no idea how something like that can happen on our campus. I'm ready to do whatever you ask of me, Niko."

The security guy pointed their finger at the screen, "This is your wife entering the campus this morning," his finger followed Evangeline as she almost ran through the hallway. She opened up a door and went inside.

"Where did she go?"

"The library," the security guy switched the camera and the inside of the library could be seen.

Evangeline stood by the door for a few minutes, looking around. I had no fucking idea what she was doing. I got closer to the screen and watched her. She was pinching her skin, she had a habit of pinching the skin of her fingers with the other hand whenever she was nervous.

She then walked to the back and the security footage cut the end of the library, she stood by a bookshelf and searched for something, probably looking for a book. She then went to her knees and pulled something out from under the bookshelf.

A book, it was a book. She opened it and took out a phone. The same fucking phone I was holding in my hand right now-the same fucking burner phone. She put the phone in her bag and ran out of the library.

The camera cut to the hallway again, and this time she was talking to her friend; that same girl-Layla. They both talked for a few minutes and then Evangeline walked away, the security guy followed till she disappeared into another door.

"Where did she go?"

"Janitor's closet, we don't have cameras in there, Don Niko," D'Angelo told me.

I let out a breath to keep myself calm. What the fuck was she doing? Why was she acting this way? Did Evangeline run away? Why the fuck would she? Where will she go? I know her, I fucking know her better than she knows herself. Evangeline isn't that much of a mastermind. She is fucking stupid, she can't pull off something like that. She can throw a good temper tantrum once in a while but that's just there's to her. She is so fucking innocent, this can't be her doing.

She came out of the closet three minutes later in different clothes and went the other way. The security guy followed her trail, switching between camera angles as she stepped up the stairwell.

He cut to the camera that was on the top of the stairs. I saw her getting to the top, she was fucking crying. She was crying so hard that she could barely stand up straight.

"What the fuck is going on with you?" I whispered to myself, "Where is she going?" I asked no one in particular.

"The roof..." D'Angelo answered.

She stepped out to the roof and I looked at the security guy asking him to switch to the rooftop.

D'Angelo cleared his throat, "Niko, all the security cameras on the roof were damaged last night. We haven't had the time to replace them yet, we don't have the next footage."

"Did she go back down?" I asked through gritted teeth.

"No..." Marco answered, "Only her bag was found on the roof."

A muscle in my jaw twitched, "So what, are you trying to tell me that my wife disappeared into thin air?!"

"A couple of students saw a helicopter flying by the campus building this morning. Maybe, she-"

With a growl, I slammed the fucking burner phone into the wall. I pointed my finger at Marco's face, "I need you to find my wife. I don't fucking care how you fucking do it. I WANT MY WIFE BACK IN MY HOME IN A FUCKING HOUR!"

My phone buzzed in my pocket; Alessandro was calling me, "Niko, you might want to get back to the house..."

"Did you find her?"

"I found her cell phone. It was on her bed and there's a note for you. I think you should-"

I hung up and went straight out of the building. If that stupid girl has tried to do something extremely fucking stupid, it's going to be hell for her.

I got into my car and sped towards our home. It was a five-minute ride but it felt like a fucking hour because every second I wasted looking for her here, she got further away from me.

I parked the car before the front door and strode inside. I went up to her room and saw Alessandro, and a few other men right outside. They stepped aside from the door when they saw me.

I kicked open the door and found all her stuff right where it was supposed to be. Her cell phone was placed in the middle of her bed and under it was a handwritten note.

I walked to it and picked up her cell phone and the note.

Nikolai, I can't do this anymore. You said every time you looked at me; all you could see was your mother's murderer then tell me how am I supposed to look at you?

How is it fair that I got the punishment for my father's sins and you-who actually killed my parents-get to be the victim in all this?! It's not fair, Nikolai, you are not fair.

I'm leaving, please, don't look for me, don't ever try to contact me again because now I can't stand to look at you! Whenever I think about you, whenever I imagine your face all I see is a monster; an animal.

You never loved me and you don't deserve my love as well. You don't deserve my love, my time, or my energy. I'm done with you and don't bother looking for me because it will only make me hate you more. You are a monster, I hate you and I'm done with you!

My throat fucking tightened, I could barely breathe. The sound of my heavy breath resounded in my head, blood dripped in my vision as rage and the sense of betrayal washed over me like a violent tidal wave.

She wasn't kidnapped.

She wasn't taken.

She ran.

She fucking ran.

She ran from me.

She ran from Nikolai Costello.

She has some fucking nerve. My pulse drummed in my ear as I slowly went out of her room holding her cell phone and that fucking note that she must have written this morning.

I ran a hand through my hair, and all of my men were staring at me, waiting for my command. They all stood upright, watching me.

I was calm, too calm, the violent emotion that was burning inside of me are going to burst out any second but I didn't let it happen.

"She called the same number again and again last week, they talked for hours, Niko. I managed to retrieve a single recording. The other voice belongs to Mark Leopold."

I chuckled, running a hand down my face. I nodded, Mark Leopold sealed his fate when he even thought about taking my wife, and now when I get my hands on that fucker, he will wish for death, he will grovel for death and I won't give it to him. He will wish that he was never born when I'm done with him.

And my wife, Mrs. Evangeline Costello, I'll deal with you myself, my Angel, because you are a little traitor just like your father.

I rolled my shoulder to get rid of the tension. I rolled my neck to loosen the kink, "Rip the entire country apart, wherever she went she is still inside this fucking country."

They all gave me stern nods, "On it!"

"Alessandro, do whatever you can but make sure that Evangeline Costello and Mark Leopold can not leave this fucking country!"

"I'll contact our political links, we'll put their names on the no-flying list. They won't leave by flying or through the ground. I assure you, Niko."

"Declan, I need you to find Evangeline's friend. Her name is Layla. Get that girl to me in an hour."

All of my men left one by one, taking orders, ready to burn the city to the ground to find one measly little girl that made a fucking fool out of everyone here. She fooled an entire gang of Made men, she has some fucking balls.

I went downstairs and saw Lorenzo, looking at the ground with a deep frown.

"Is it true?" he asked, "She left? She promised me that she will come back from college and then we will talk."

Lorenzo found it difficult to form a normal human connection and when he does form one with someone, he can't let that person go.

"Why don't you go find her and make her fulfill her promise?" I ordered.

He looked up with darkness-ridden eyes with rage brewing in them, "I will, Don Niko, I will."

When I was left alone, I stared at her note, "You called me a monster, Angel... You have no fucking idea how much of a monster I can be."

And that was it, that was the end of my patience. I slammed her cell phone into the wall.

"You fucking made this monster, Evangeline, now you better fucking tame it!"
