The stadium buzzed with excitement on this windy Friday of October, and the spectators are awaiting the start of the football game.

After what Jeremy said I decided to come support the team with Kiara.

Beside us is our friend, Mia, who's Japanese and has lit class with us. She's dating Bobby, one of the guys on the team. Which answers all questions as to why she's sitting front row, and as close to the team as we are. Games at home are always better for the boys since the support they got acted as a driving force for them to play harder.

"Why you want to come to these games all of a sudden? I've been begging you since freshman year," she talks loudly over the noise in the stadium.

"Someone encouraged me to come cheer for my brother."

"You think," she retorts, and when I shoulder bump her she laughs.

"But really, I'm so happy to hear that. I hope you will accompany to every game from now on," she says before relaxing back into her seat.

I watch the boys as they emerge from the corner clad in their gear and ready to play, and the crowd cheers as they file onto the field. My brother was somewhere in the background as the game hadn't started yet. Marcus, was a wide receiver and one of the best on the team. I loved watching him play, he was so passionate about the game and played with enthusiasm.

The captains of both teams stepped forward, in order of the referee. There was a coin toss and it looks like USC would kick off.

The seven offensive players got in formation, positioning themselves from the scrimmage line and the crowd becomes deadly silent.

"Set! Hut hut!"

The center passes the ball underneath the legs of the other players huddled together, to the quarterback, Jeremy, stationed directly behind.

There was a lot of shoving, grunting and pushing. I didn't understand what the hell was going on in this savage ass game.

Our side erupts in cheers when the player with the last name Webster, who appears to be a rusher, made the touchdown.

After the ball is tossed to Webster who was open, he ran like quicksilver towards the end zone and advanced over the goal line to make the touchdown.

The game continues with things being a little rough for USC because of the advantages the other team has over theirs.

The players from the other team were big and bulky as opposing to the one's playing for OSU. But the thing about the players at our school was that they were swift.

If I thought Marcus is looking good down there then I guess Jeremy is brilliant. With his passes, his throws and how he moves like lightning among the other twenty one players present.

As the nail biting game comes to an end, our side cheers excitedly for the win.

The boys celebrate in a huddle on the field along with some of the spectators. Kiara and I say our goodbyes to Mia, before scurrying out of the stadium before everyone would be trying to go out at the same time.

"That...was...so...awesome!" Kiara exclaims.

Kiara is a big football fan, whether it be high school, college or professional football.

"It was okay," I shrug. She gives me a pointed look. "What do you want me to say? It wasn't no basketball, so it was okay."

She frowns half heartedly, "Are you coming with me to the after party of the season opener?" She asks.

"Yep, I haven't been to a party in a long time." She rolls her eyes before pushing me with her shoulder and I laugh.

When we sit inside her car she starts fixing her makeup in the mirror and I watch her pointedly.

"What? I gotta look good, maybe you should try making some effort," she laughs.

I look down at what I'm wearing, "What's wrong with what I have on?"

"Not you asking me what's wrong with how you look when you're dressed in a T-shirt and jeans."

I roll my eyes, "Kiara, it's an after party not the club."

"Suit yourself," she says before driving off.

After Kiara and I stopped to eat something, about an hour later we arrive at the party.

The party is lively and packed. The music bounces off the four walls and thumps loudly all around us.

It's a nice little get together for the boys to celebrate the start of their season.

Kiara is by my side as we both step in and head for the kitchen. She gets herself a bottle of water from the fridge and pours it into a cup while I do the same with a beer I took from one of the igloos.

We congregate with a few of our classmates who were at the game and Kiara joins their conversation which is something about sex while I listen in.

The team has just arrived not too long ago and the party erupted in cheers when the dj announced it.

My twin spots me and walks right over to harass me as usual.

"What are you guys doing here?" He asks.

"We're here to party what else?" Kiara replies and he gives her a warning look.

"Not only are you guys cramping my style but I don't want you to end up having someone drunk drive you home," he says.

"Boy please," Kiara starts. "I'm the DD and see the only thing I'm drinking is this cup of water," she shows him the cup.

His worry dissipates before he looks at me.

"You better make sure I don't hear about you getting in the car with no drunk," he warns.

My brother's high school girlfriend died in a car accident because she went into the car with her drunk friend.

Ever since, he's been extra protective of me, and his heart. It's the only reason why I just mind my business when he whores around.

"You won't," I assure him.

He nods, "Good, and if anything goes bad tonight, you lemme know aite?" I nod in response then he punches my upper arm.

He nods to Kiara before going about his business.

My brother and Kiara don't really talk and I often wonder if something happened between them. I've asked Kiara about it but she denies any such thing.

Now here I am standing outside the bathroom door, keeping guard as Kiara uses it.

"Marissa?" a familiar voice questions and my body jerks in shock.

I turn to see Jeremy, whose eyes are trained on me, with a beer entrapped in his veiny hands.

"You scared the hell out of me," I exhale in relief.

He smiles, "I didn't mean to. I saw you standing here by yourself so I was just seeing what's up," he explains.

"Oh," I said looking away from his calculating stare. "I'm not alone, I'm just keeping guard of the bathroom door like a good friend does."

He watches me with intent before nodding, "How was the game?" He continues, with his eyes glued to my every move.

"It was okay," I shrugged. "I enjoyed myself and you didn't do too bad out there."

"I'm well aware of my talents on and off the field," he smiles charmingly.

Kiara exits the bathroom and fixes her high waisted pants. She looks puzzled when she notices Jeremy beside me.

"Oh, what's hatnin Jeremy?" she greets and he smiles.

Kiara and Jeremy are in the same history class. As a matter of fact, they sit next to each other in that said class.

"I'm here celebrating, the usual."

"Mhm. Congrats on the win and y'all better make sure that you continue to win 'cause I bet big money on y'all."

"Don't worry about it, we got the season on lock," he winks.

"Anyways, I gotta go. I'll see you on Monday at eight," he tells me before he makes his way downstairs.

We both watch him as he leaves and as soon as he's out of sight Kiara turns to me.

"Okay, you haven't spoken to Jeremy in years so why is he seeing you on Monday? You're not a season girl are you?" She gasps.

"Oh please. And what is a season girl?"

"A season girl sleeps around with the sportsmen when it's that sports' season." She pins me with her stare.

"It's nothing. I'm tutoring him in Sociology because if he doesn't past the mid term coming up then he can't play for the rest of the season," I explain as we walked back to the corner where our friends were at.

"So, are you guys like cool now?"

"I guess so."

She wanted to say something else but instead she continues on the football path.

"You know, if he fails that team is going to fall apart. Not only is he their captain but he's also like the krazy glue of the team, he keeps everything smooth and in coordination."

"Good for him," I state trying to dismiss her talking.

"I know you're secretly telling me to make sure he passes so that the team you bet on can win." I give her a knowing look.

"Alright you caught me, but you better make it happen," she demands and I shut out her talking as we walk back to our friends downstairs.
