The weeks went by in a flash and before you know it, it's Friday, the day we'd get back our papers. The test last week was absolutely brutal, but after countless study sessions prior, I think that I must have managed to pass.

I'm anxious to see my paper, but as usual our lecturer doesn't hand them out until the last five minutes of the session.

She trails on and on about the new topic trying her best to grasp the dwindling attention of the students on the brink of sleep.

Quite frankly, our lecturer is boring. Doesn't make things interesting to learn and is more complex than the text book.

This is my only class where I find that it's just simpler for me to go read my text book, because in comparison to professor Goodison, it makes things a lot clearer.

Sociology is one of my favorites, but, I can understand why it isn't for others. Professor Goodison did not bring it across as an interesting course.

Finally, after five minutes left of the two hour session, she hands out the test papers.

"I must say that I'm proud of the few of you that have outperformed your last test. Keep up the good work. For those of you who failed this however, I hope your previous term grades were good enough," she mutters as she hands the papers out row by row.

When I collect my paper, I turn it over to see the big A on it. I exhale in relief before I turn it to the side to show Kiara. She lifts hers to show that she got an A minus.

Ecstatic doesn't even explain how I feel.

When the session ends, I put my books together and tuck my test paper into a folder before I see Kiara off to her next session and I head home.

I'm snuggled up in my blankets on the couch watching tv after my shower. It was a peaceful day. I had no more classes for the rest of the day so I could just chill.

At least that's what I thought would happen before my brother and Jeremy barged through the door making a whole lotta noise.

There's bottles of high content alcoholic beverages in their hands.

I sat up on instinct and watched them as they entered the apartment.

"May I ask what this is all for?"

Marcus smirks as he takes his jacket off, "We're starting our celebration early."

"For?"

"I got an A," Jeremy answers and a huge smile spreads across his face.

"And I am beyond happy about that shit. Do you know what that means? It means we're back in the game," Marcus cheers before kissing my forehead triumphantly and going off to his room.

Jeremy chuckles before he sits beside me on the couch.

"Congratulations. Although I must say, thank God you passed. I can't even imagine the amount of haters your failure would bring me," I said playfully.

He rolls his eyes, "Thank you Marissa."

"You're welcome," I responded before turning my attention back to my movie.

"What are you watching?"

"I don't know, I was skipping through the channels and it seemed interesting," I shrugged.

"Tomorrow's the team dinner I don't know if Marcus told you," he states.

"Yeah he told me about it." I glanced at him curiously before casting my eyes away.

"Well, I want you to show out so you can hear my heartfelt toast that I'm going to make for you."

I laughed before answering, "Well it's a good thing I decided to show my face this year."

~

"Girl, get up!" Kiara yells in my ears.

"Bitch do you know what time it is?" She continues.

I open my mouth to answer but she interrupts me, "It's four o clock. Now please get your ass in the bathroom and shower so I can help you get ready."

"Shit," I hiss before getting out of bed. I take ten minutes to cool down before getting in the shower.

By the time I'm out, there are a variety of dresses sprawled on the bed for me to choose from.

"Girl you best sit in that chair so I can do your makeup. You're lucky your hair is braided."

She takes approximately an hour to do my face which I told her not to overdo because it's just a team dinner.

When she's making her finishing touches, Marcus peeps his head through my room door after knocking twice.

"Ri, I'm ready so make it snappy."

"What! It's six already?"

"It's ten minutes pass the hour, so as I said before make it snappy," he says then he shuts the door behind him.

In no time Kiara has me in a lavender, silk dress and clear heels.

My little matching bag is so small, the only things it can hold are my phone, my lip gloss, money and gum.

"Absolutely stunning," she says in awe after finishing.

The top half of my braids are swept away from my face and the rest is flowing down my back and on my shoulders.

The thin straps of my dress sit nicely on my shoulder and the adjustable at the side of my dress is tied neatly.

My makeup however is a surprise because after spending so much time doing it, I thought she was doing too much but it was just perfect.

The eyebrows, the eyeshadow, the lashes, the wing, the highlight and the lipgloss are all so subtle and simple, and I love it.

"Thank you Ki."

"You're welcome. Now move your ass it's almost six thirty. I'll be here when you get back for our movie marathon night."

"God Marcus is going to kill me. Why can't black people be on time," I mumbled to myself as I entered the living area.

Marcus stands by the stairs staring at his watch, "You look great. Now, let's go because we're gonna be late."

~

My brother's date is also in the car and let's say we had a very awkward ride to the event.

When we're there, I stick as close to my brother as possible.

My brother stops to speak to the vice captain of the team and I'm just looking around like the antisocial person I am.

"Come on sis, we should get seated."

Marcus leads both me and his date to the table.

I'm Jeremy's plus one yet I haven't seen him since I've been here.

Jeremy

This dinner is basically about praying for the team and toasts from the team members.

I arrived late and I know that everyone is pissed about that.

I sat through many speeches. Some too long, some too short and some a little bit too much.

When I made my speech however, I made sure it wasn't either of those. It had everyone's attention. I don't know how I do that, but I captivate everyone's attention around me, most times without trying.

The dinner is coming to an end but now we're all just idly drinking. I'm having a conversation with my coach and someone very important in the world of football yet I can't seem to take my eyes off Marissa.

She's wearing this lavender, silk dress. It exposes the right amount of cleavage and those heels make her legs look long. I want to fuck her and make those legs shake.

Wait, what did I just say?

I rest the cup of liquor on the table and decide I'm not drinking anything more tonight.

I wrap the conversation up and I walk over to her.

"Did you like my speech?" I asked from behind and she jumps and turns around to face me.

Her eyes move in a slow deliberate motion as she scans me from head to toe. This is the first time she's seeing me in a suit.

"What do you think?" I ask stretching my arms out and putting myself on display for her to look.

"You clean up nicely," she comments and I chuckle and shake my head.

"I could say the same about you, only you look better. Did you like the toast?"

"Yeah I did. You said some really nice things," she looked up into my eyes before turning them to the floor and smiling.

"Just wanted to show you I appreciate you," I said and she nods her head in understanding.

I hear someone clear their throat and I turn around knowing it's Marcus.

"Marissa I'm ready to go," he says in that tone and I know exactly why he wants to leave

"Okay. See you Monday Jeremy," she says and she lightly brushed me as she leaves.

"I'll see you bro. Duty calls," he says. We do our handshake before I watch them leave.

Now that I think about that, I can't remember the last time I got laid.

I just need to figure out what I'm doing first before I focus on all that.

A/N: There has been a name change in terms of the main character. I changed it from Gina to Madeleine just because I like that name better and twins with similar names sound better.
