I'm really grateful that Morgan and Trace are letting me stay with them. I've got to call mom and dad and let them know that I'm here and I really dread that call.

I pick up my new cell phone and hover over Dad's number Morgan programmed.

📞 Hello?

📞 Dad, It's me, Lanie.

📞 Did you get a new phone, Lanie?

📞 Yeah, I did. Umm, I need to talk to you dad.

📞 What's going on Lanie?

📞 Dad Reggie beat me up and put me in the hospital. But he's in jail now.

📞 Fuckin hell are you ok? Where are you?

📞 See that's the thing. I'm at Morgan's.

📞 Morgan's? How long have you been there?

📞 Not even an hour. She bought me this phone and she and Trace brought me here.

📞When can we see you and can I tell your mom?

📞 Anytime dad I'm just embarrassed about what happened but I don't want you to freak when you see me.

📞I just want to wrap my arms around you, Lanie. I will break it to mom and we will be by in a bit ok?

📞Sounds good. Love you dad.

📞 I love you too Lanie bug.

When I hung up the phone I couldn't help but smile. Dad hasn't called me that in a long time.

I unpack my clothes and pull out my Gavin bear and hug it. I know he's my real dad but when Kash wanted to adopt me I gladly took on the Ryan name.

Morgan walks into the room... "Did you call?"

"I did and dad said they would be over in a little while."

"Good I don't want them mad thinking your hiding from them," Morgan said.

"True," I said laying my Gavin bear on the dresser.

"Gosh, I haven't seen that bear in a long time. I'm glad you still have it." Morgan said.

"He got me through a lot of stuff. Morgan, I couldn't talk to anyone. He made me quit my job because models may smile at me." I said.

"I hope I never see him or I will hurt him. Where is your sewing machine?" She asked.

"He tore it up. He didn't want me doing anything." I sigh.

"Don't you worry about that we will get you the best of the best." She smiled.

"Morgan I always thought you hated me but I'm happy to be here with my sister," I said.

Morgan walked over and pulled me in for a hug which is a first she doesn't like hugs.

"You changed! Trace has been good for you." I laugh

"Yeah between Trace and my friend Sunny I've become ok with hugs." She laughs.

"I'm going to shower and clean up before mom and dad get here and try to look presentable." I said

"Sounds good! Come downstairs when you get done if you want." She said closing my door.

I rummaged through my suitcase and pulled out some clean clothes and went to the bathroom.

After my shower, I dressed and put some stuff in my hair, and scrunched it up before applying lotion.

I opened my door and took a deep breath before walking downstairs to where Morgan and Trace were.

I heard Dad's voice and when I got to the bottom step he rushed over to me. "Lanie bug I missed you." He said squeezing me tight.

"I missed you too dad but please not so tight I'm really sore." I laughed.

"Oh shit, I'm sorry Lanie I forgot." He said just as mom walked over.

"Oh, my baby." She brushed my hair out of my face before hugging me lightly and it felt great to be in her arms.

"Hi, mom." I smiled.

"Let's go sit down. Trace is making food." Morgan said walking out to the porch.

"Wow this is nice and I'm going to enjoy this." I laugh.

"Told you!" Morgan smirked.

For the first time in my life, I'm thankful for my family. I couldn't stop smiling or looking at them.

"So Lanie how long are you staying?" Mom asked.

"Umm forever? I don't plan to go back to California." I said.

"Oh, I'm happy to hear that." Mom smiled.

Dad looked over at me... "I didn't tell her anything."

"Where is Reggie?" Mom asked.

"That fucker is in jail." Trace said walking up not knowing that mom didn't know.

"Ok, what's going on?" Mom asked.

I spilled all my dirty laundry to them and even about my nurse Tarzan and that I will be looking for a place once I'm more settled being back home.

"You can always come home." Mom said.

"Thanks, mom but I wanted to stay with Morgan."

"What about your job?" Dad asked.

"Reggie made me quit it a while back." I sighed.

"And I told her that I'm buying her the best sewing machine!" Morgan said.

"Yeah we all need new work shirts and I know someone who can make some for us." Dad smiled.

I wiped the tears from my eyes and tucked my feet under me. It's so great to be home and I'm glad I got away from Reggie. I just knew the only way to get away from him was in a body bag.

Trace brought a plate filled with burgers up to the table and at that moment I was starving. I'm too skinny right now and even though no one has said anything I know they notice.

Reggie wouldn't let me eat what I wanted it was what he wanted me to eat so I would stay skinny.

When I took the first bite it was so delicious I had to close my eyes.

"Lanie is the burger good?" Morgan giggled.

"Yes so good!" I laugh.

The doorbell rang and Trace went to get it and when he came back in walked this good-looking guy.

"I swear Jax always smells when food is cooking." Morgan laughed.

"I'm sorry but I'm guilty." He laughed.

"Oh, Jax this is my sister Lanie. Lanie this is Jax he lives right above us and he is part of our tattoo work family." Morgan said.

"Nice to meet you, Lanie." He smiled.

Damn that smile... "Nice to meet you too Jax."
