hi here's a filler chapter I meant to post a few days ago while I write a longer one :)

"Henry, please. You have to go!" I begged.

"Why would I want to hang out with you and your tele-tubby friends?" He asked.

"Because you have nothing else to do. And besides, Olivia will be there."

Of course I'd never permit my brother and best friend to get together, but I had to persuade Henry to go on the trip. He was practically begging to get with Olivia last month.

"What makes you think I care if she's going?" He asked.

"C'mon!!" I shouted. "Mom!"

"You should get out of the house, Hen. You don't want to be stuck here with your mother, do you?" She smiled.

"It's just for a few days. It'll be fun, I promise," I begged once again, tugging on his arms.

"Fine."

I practically screamed at his surrender.

"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" I said, showering him in kisses.

"Yeah, yeah."

With Henry there, I wouldn't have to worry about Brett and Olivia fighting over me.

I'd decided to leave him alone for the night, prepping myself for Brett's company. As bad as I felt about trumping my plans with Olivia, he deserved some time with me. I was his girlfriend, after all.

We decided to stay in to binge a couple of movies, just like Olivia and I would do.

"So she's in love with her brother?" Brett questioned me as I forced him to watch one of Olivia's favorites: Clueless. We were laying on my bed eating licorice, popcorn, and pizza rolls.

"Step," I emphasized. He was totally taking away the romance of the movie.

"Incest," He laughed, and I couldn't help but laugh with him.

"I'm glad we're together tonight," He suddenly said.

"Why's that?" I asked bluntly.

"Well for one, I get you all to myself. And two, I wanted to talk to you about something."

"Shoot," I smiled.

"We never talked about that thing." I could tell he was getting nervous now. He was rubbing the back of his neck, no longer laying down on the bed.

"What thing?" I questioned. But I knew exactly what he was talking about.

"I might've accidentally said something that I didn't mean," He said embarrassed.

We could've just pretended the whole situation never happened. We could've just moved on. I did. But for some reason, he couldn't stop bringing it up.

"Brett, it's okay," I assured him. "I know you didn't mean it."

"That's the thing, Charlie. I did mean it. I just didn't mean for my thoughts to speak so soon," He apologized. "I-I don't wanna scare you."

"Brett, really. It's fine. I just— I don't think I'm ready for that yet."

"Uh, yeah. No, I totally understand. No rush or anything, but I still want you to know how I feel about you," He said, his voice now shaking with nervousness.

"Well, thanks. Why don't we finish the movie?" I said.

"Uh, actually I should start heading home. I still have to pack for the trip," He said.

"Oh. Yeah, okay. Me too. I'll see you Sunday?"

"See you Sunday."

I walked him to the front door and he gave me a light peck on the cheek. It'd been the weakest goodbye even though we'd be seeing each other Sunday. Had I hit a soft spot? Was I wrong for not telling Brett how I felt? After all, I wasn't even sure if it was him I loved.
