Brett Daniels.

"Brett!" I shouted across the parking lot. I'm guessing he didn't hear me as he continued to make his way into the entrance of the school.

I ended up sprinting after him, signing up for more exercise than I bargained for.

"Brett!" I yelled once again as I reached the school hallway. He finally realized I was calling his name, and turned around with a sharpening smile.

"I-I was calling your name back there," I said panting, still trying to catch my breath from the few feet I ran.

"Sorry about that, Charlie," he said grinning.

"I just wanted to see how you were doing." I was now bent over, still panting trying to catch my breath.

"What was that?"

"How.. are.. you," I said in between pants.

"I'm good, what's up?"

"I just.. wanted to see how you were doing ever since.. you know..." I started, hoping he got the clue.

"We kissed?" I didn't expect him to be so blunt about it.

"Yeah," I said nervously, now recalling the soft kiss we had shared outside my house. I could feel my lips begin to tingle.

"Look, Charlotte—Charlie— you're amazing. That kiss was amazing.." he began. I couldn't stop my smile from forming. "It's just.. I have to ask you something."

"What is it?" I asked.

"I don't know how to word this.."

"Just spit it out, Daniels."

"Are you.. do you have a thing with Olivia?"

"Olivia?" I questioned.

"Your best friend. Olivia Atwood."

"Why would you say something like that?" I was hoping for something better than an accusation. I was hoping he suddenly had a realization about us. I was hoping he would ask me to be his girlfriend.

"It doesn't matter.. just, is it true?"

"Where did you even hear that from?" I asked, and I could hear my voice beginning to break.

"Nowhere, I just—"

"Was It Chase?!" I shouted, now causing a scene in the hallway. I was going to kill him.

"Chase? Morgan? What does Chase have to do with this? Wait— so it is true?" He asked.

"No! I don't have a crush on Olivia, we don't have a thing, and I'm not gay!" I shouted.

My lips were trembling. How did he know anything about me and Olivia?

"I didn't mean to make you upset, Charlie." I had my back against the lockers, and my face in the palm of my hands. He slowly pulled my hands from my face.

"I'm sorry."

"I don't have a thing with Olivia," I said under my breath once again.

"I believe you. And I feel stupid, believing dumb rumors."

"Where did you hear it from?" I asked. "Chase?"

He nodded.

"He's a pathological liar," I added. "He's just upset because I won't help him get back together with Olivia, so he's making up childish rumors about me."

"I don't know why I ever believed him.. it's just... you spend a lot of time with Olivia and I guess I was jealous."

"Why?"

"Because.. I want you to myself." I had been staring at the ground, twiddling my feet, until he finally caught my attention.

His dark brown eyes were staring deep into mine, and he came closer, just before pulling me in for a soft kiss.

"Yes," I said. "I'll be your girlfriend."

Our lips were still centimeters apart, and I could feel a big smile lift on his face.

"And don't worry about Olivia. We're not on good terms right now, anyway. Even if we were, you'd still have me all to yourself, Daniels."

After my encounter with Brett, I made my way to first period. I had serious business to attend to. As I reached Mr. Teague's classroom, I met eyes with Chase Morgan.

Mr. Teague wasn't in the classroom yet, so I had time to do what needed to be done. As I reached Chase and I's desk, I slapped my hand across his cheek.

"What the hell!" He shouted, grasping his cheek as it flushed with red.

"You're a dick!" I shouted. "Olivia doesn't want to get back together with you, and you're stupid if you think I'm gonna sit here and let you blackmail me with some bullshit."

"Someone needs a happy meal," he laughed.

"Oh, I'm sorry.. do you think this is funny?" I asked.

"Oh, yeah. You're a real comedian."

"Well I hope you find it funny when I tell Olivia how much of a douchebag you are."

"Haven't read the papers yet?" He asked.

"Excuse me?"

"Olivia and I are already back together. I guess you didn't know her as well as you thought you did," he grinned.

Oh, no. I knew exactly who Olivia was, and this was just like her.

"Well, it won't last long. She's smarter than that. As soon as we make up, you're old news."

"What makes you think she still wants to be your friend? As far as I know, she made it sound like 'Charlivia' was the old news."

"You're lying," I said. He's lying. He's lying. Olivia and I could never stay mad at each other. We always came back to each other, no matter what.

He just laughed, leaving me to wonder whether or not Olivia and I really were over.

Had I hurt her that much? I couldn't have.

"If you guys are back together, why the hell did you try to sabotage my relationship with Brett?"

"Don't you get it, Russo? I want you out. Out of the closet, out of this world, and out of Olivia's life. You've got a big storm coming. Now, stay the hell away from my girlfriend."
