"Not that I'm not thrilled to have you call me, but it is late. Or early, depends how you look at it."

I laughed. Jamie was interesting, and unapologetically himself. I didn't feel like he was hiding anything. He felt honest.

"But Jamie, I'm sure I am much better than sleep."

"You wish."

"I don't need to wish; I know."

Jamie snorted as I walked across the road towards the park that was across from the hospital. "How's your dad?"

I breathed in deeply, "He'll live."

"You say that like it's a bad thing," Jamie said softly.

I shrugged, as if Jamie could see me. "I don't know, I wouldn't be cruel and say it is."

For some reason I felt an overwhelming feeling to me tell him everything that had happened with my dad. But I held back for two reasons; he's just a kid, and I don't know him well.

"It's not cruel if it's honest."

"Maybe."

"Anyways what's up?" Jamie asked, curiously.

"I'm at the park being a loner."

"Want to hang out you loner?" Jamie asked.

I sat down on a park bench and looked out into the busy Melbourne streets. Even so late, everyone was out drinking and having fun.

"Someone's eager. How do I know you won't kill me now that we'll be alone?"

"Trust me mate, I don't have the willpower to kill nobody." Jamie laughed quietly. I could hear rustling in the background and I assumed he's already hoped my answer would be yes.

"Sure. Let's hang. Where you thinking?"

"I know a bar downtown where we can hang. It's called Rikers."

"I use to spend all my time at Rikers." I told him, getting up from the park bench.

"Perfect. Meet ya there in half hour?"

"Sure."

Jamie hung up and I headed for the late night bus stop. I couldn't believe people still went to Rikers. I haven't been there in so long. I remembered the first time Jace and Drew dragged me there.

"I'm tired Drew. Can't I just stay home and moan about mum and dad?" I begged as Drew dragged me downstairs by me shirt.

Drew glared at me and popped a smoke into his mouth. He'd been smoking a lot lately, "You can't moan forever."

"You like to moan when Jace touches you!"

"For the last time I'm not boning Jace!" Drew hissed.

"Who says boning anymore?"

"Let's just go. Jace is waiting outside."

"Whatever."

I let Drew pull me downstairs and outside to a shivering Jace. He waved and we started walking to this new bar that Jace's brother had started going to.

"Damo says it's a good bar." Jace said, just as we arrived at the bar.

"I hope so. I need alcohol." Drew said, eagerly entering the bar. Would we be let in?

Throughout the rest of the night, Drew got drunk badly, Jace smoked the rest of Drew's smokes and I sat, still moaning about mum and dad.

I had met Riker too. He was a cool guy at least and sat with me while Drew drank away feelings that he never shared with anyone and Jace smoked away that stubborn sad look in his eyes.

The one thing that stood out to me was how much Drew smoked and drunk back then. I almost got too caught up with my problems to remember how broken Drew actually was.

He seemed to be better. And then he was just gone. I closed my eyes and bit my lip so it would stop quivering and boarded the bus when it arrived.

Suddenly my phone beeped.

FROM JACE: Call me when you're free.

*Jace's point of view*

"Damo!" I punched my brother in the arm as he stole my vodka bottle. He swung his arm towards my head, but he missed because I ducked.

"Woah little bro, calm down."

"Says you."

"I will kick you out." Damo said jokingly. Well, I hoped it was jokingly because I kinda didn't have anywhere to go. Ash kicked me out and no one's talking to me right now.

I rolled my eyes and sat down on the couch of his apartment, "Ash messaged me."

Damo shot me a concerned look. He had always liked Ash, but lately he'd been a bit torn. "Have you replied?" He asked, sitting down beside me.

I pulled my phone out and showed him the message. "No, should I?"

He nodded. "He's trynna fix shit man. You need to put effort in too."

I put my phone back in my pocket. "I dunno."

"No I mean it. Try and fix your relationship man. Why are gay boys so stubborn?"

"I'm not gay. I'm bi."

Damo shrugged. "Right then."

He got up and chucked my finish vodka bottle in the trash. "What do you wanna do?"

"Let's go to Rikers." I said, getting up too. "I need a drink that you won't steal off me."

"That'll never happen." Damo said laughing.

"Whatever. When do ya wanna go?"

Damo drew his eyebrows in. "We'll go in an hour or so. It's only 12am."

I scoffed. "Only."

For the next hour or so Damo and I drank whatever we could find and watched the footy on his small ass TV.

At around one am we left for Rikers and I decided to text Ash back.

TO ASH: Call me when you're free.
