Chapter Twenty: Trip Out In Titan Part 2.

--

Still perplexed, I began to slowly see the resemblances of both him and his mother. Just like Derek his mother had dark brown hair but hers was straight and reached just under her shoulders. And just like Derek his mother had sparkling brown eyes and was just overall gorgeous.

I sighed out sadly, "thank you......"

Derek's mother laughed, "Rita. You can call me Rita."

At the same time as Derek and Rita, we all simultaneously and longingly smiled at each other, allowing me more time to absorb the rest of the similarities between the two.

"I hope he hasn't been taking advantage of you, my lady, my son has a problem keeping his hands and fangs to himself especially when it comes to pretty girls," Rita said in a humorous and stern voice, giving Derek those motherly eyes.

"Mother, please..." Derek groaned as he covered his face in embarrassment.

I giggled finding this situation a little funny, "don't worry Rita, Derek has been taking great care of me. He has not even once tried to bite me... I'm pretty impressed."

"Yet," Derek mumbled and I snapped my head around to look at him with raised eyebrows.

"Pardon?"

Derek smirked as he lied, "I didn't even say anything."

I rolled my eyes and brought my attention back to Rita. "So, Rita. Tell me some proud stories of your son. I'm all ears."

Rita laughed grabbing a chair in the process and placing it near us, "and I'm all talk darling," she then clapped her hands and a young male ascended from the front of the class, "Todwick, place this in the oven will you."

Todwick had muck on his face and arms and was dressed like a servant. In a thin, beige material that barely passed his knees and some white ankle sandals.

I gulped at the unhygienic state of him, honestly feeling guilty as Rita instructed him to place the pot we had made in the oven.

Derek must've noticed because just a second after, I felt his hands rub my lower back.

***

"I still can't believe you didn't tell me yourself that your mother was the pottery teacher, a rich, pretty one at that," I said before wobbling on top of the white horse I was riding which was very unsteady.

Derek shrugged, "I didn't think it was a big deal. And I didn't want her embarrassing me in front of you, which she managed to do anyway."

I nodded with an amused smile, "those stories she told me of you trying to be a knight were adorable!!!"

Derek bit his bottom lip as he watched me laugh, "I was such a fool when I was younger."

"Don't worry I was a big fool when I was young too..." Riding beside Derek and his black horse, I managed to keep control and balanced on mine.

My ladies were trailing behind, laughing together as they did so. Kiera had managed to attract a very wealthy and handsome vampire at the pottery class who had insisted on helping her ride for the first time.

They were cute so I allowed it.

Don't worry Derek and I have been making sure that the man isn't a blood-thirsty psycho.

Claudia and Leia were fine, happy with life, the happiest I had seen them since we met.

I had been speaking to them quite a few times, on the way to this horse riding activity, we spoke about what kind of lives we have always dreamed of. It was nice.

"A big fool, how so?" Derek asked.

Well.....

"Lets just say I used to make crowns out of sticks, put them on and pretend I was the queen of everything." I scoffed whilst holding onto the ropes helping me steer my white horse.

This was another thing I always dreamt of doing, riding a horse.

"And why do you think that's a foolish thing to do? I mean we could still make that reality come true and I'll be your knight in shining armour." Derek joked and I amusedly sighed.

"Because it was an unrealistic dream. Although that sounds like a perfect picture, I am almost certain I'll never be queen and also sorry to break it to you, but you aren't a knight, Derek. Yet anyway." I replied in a serious but also amused tone of voice.

Derek stopped his horse from moving and blocked my path, causing me to pull my ropes back and the horse I was riding to a stop.

He had a very hard expression on as he burned his beautiful, darkened eyes into mine. "You have to have faith in yourself, no one should stop you from being something you've dreamt of being since you were a child..."

"-I know I-"

"Listen, Natalya, I am going to be honest with you. You are the most beautiful girl I have ever seen, when Alaric described you he missed out big details like the fact you are easy going, fun to be around, strong and sexy. I think Zac knows that too and genuinely I think you will win this event, hands down. It'll sting seeing you with him and not me but, at least you will still be alive and hopefully anoint me as a knight-"

The more he spoke, the more my heart grew warmer and warmer and the more I could feel the fire burning in my veins wear out.

I think I may just be f-

*CRASH*

My thoughts were interrupted when both Derek and I drifted our attentions behind us, where Leia had fallen off her horse and onto the straw field.

"Oh God, Leia! Are you okay? Have you broken anything?!" I shouted as I circled my horse around and rode it over to where my ladies and Kiera's man were.

The handsome man Kiera had managed to attract helped Leia off the ground as I climbed down from my horse and saw Derek arrive at the scene too.

"I think I'm fine, yeah, I may have sprained my wrist, however." Leia tried to move her wrist about but ow(ed) in pain when she failed to.

**THUNDER & LIGHTNING**

Suddenly rain began to fall.

"Oh great! The weather just had to make this moment worse. We should maybe get a healer to check that out?" I suggested and Leia nodded with a pained expression whilst she cradled her wrist.

Derek picked Leia up bridal style and smiled down at her, "we should get back to the castle, this thunder will only get worse."

I crossed my arms feeling a pang of loneliness strike me as I watched Derek and Leia interact with each other in such a romantic position.

I shrugged it off watching Derek depart with Leia as well as both Kiera and Claudia who followed them with their horses.

Now I've been left to put four horses away on my ow- Wait.

I wasn't alone.

I almost forgot.

"Lord..." I drawled turning to the man that was attracted by Kiera.

I wanted to call for the charming young man Kiera had whipped up to help me with the horses, only to realise I didn't know his name.

"Sorry, excuse my manners, what is your name?" I asked with a small and shameful smile.

The man had silver hair, more silver than Oberyns but he didn't have green eyes like Oberyn, he had hazel ones that were so familiar to me.

He looked around my age but just slightly older so maybe the ages between me and Alaric.

I was eighteen and Alaric was twenty-three in human years but was turned at the age 20. This man was young appearance wise so I'm guessing he had been turned in his early twenties.

The man could be over 50 years old but the appearance wouldn't give out that age.

"Lord Titan."

The oxygen was knocked out of me as I gasped and almost fell back. "As in Titan? As in the leader of this city. As in-!"

"Yes yes," he laughed, "as in the leader of this city."

Well, then.

Kiera will be one lucky girl if she plays her cards right.

"You must be a really really important person then gosh, you've done a good job with this city, Lord Titan." I fidgeted with my fingers out of nerves, being around this man on my own, made me feel small and vulnerable and poor again.

"Please, call me Kace," Kace clapped his hands just like Derek's mother Rita did earlier and two servants were by his side in an instant, "take these horses back to the stables."

As we watched the servants depart with the horses, Kace extended his hand out to me, "you smell good. Prince Zachary is one lucky guy... Take my hand, I would like to show you something."

I looked at his hand for a long while wondering if it was a good idea to go with him.

In the end, I decided to go against every rule in the book when dealing with a stranger alone. Even if the stranger was the leader of Titan.

Hesitantly I took his hand, "this will need to be quick," I put the hood of my cloak over my head as I felt more rain drop onto me, "this weather is only going to get worse like Derek said."

"Don't worry, close your eyes, this will take no longer than five minutes, Andrea..."

When Kace said my middle my heart literally stopped beating for a whole second. How does he know my middle name? I never-

And my thoughts were cut off when I was taken into a blur and had to force shut my eyes.

I hate when vampires use their speed on me unexpectedly, it irks me, allot.

***

"Why are you showing me this?" I eyed the pattern on the wall in fascination, completely stunned by the rose vine outline that had been carved into the wall.

Snapping back to reality, I quickly I came out of the daze I was in, "-and also you didn't answer my question, how did you know my middle name is Andrea?"

"You may find her suspicious but three words, the black witch. She knows more than you think... And I will get to the reason I'm showing this to you eventually." Kace Titan revealed and I widened my eyes.

How does the black witch know my middle name?

That creepy woman seems to be somehow connected with everything.

"I'm going to need a better explanation. How did you know that I was the one the black witch was talking about when she mentioned the name Andrea?" I asked.

"Okay, so when I attended the prince's birthday celebration as an important guest, I crossed paths with Aeliana and that was the first time we both saw you. Aeliana instantly knew, she knew even before you stood foot in that ballroom-"

What? "I'm sorry, who is Aeliana? And what did she know?"

"The black witch... She knew you already and knew instantly that you will be the one to bring the realm to its end and then its rebirth," I nodded in understanding that the black witch had an actual name.

But when the second part of his response processed in my head, I furrowed my eyebrows, "I'm sorry, what?"

"We don't have much time together. So I will cut the story short and you can go ask Aeliana for the rest of it," Kace notified and I hummed as a reply.

Kace ran his fingers across the wall I was still analysing it and as he spoke again, "myself and Aeliana are very good friends. We work in a group of twelve, with other people you have yet to meet. Although I think you know my cousin Evelyn and Oberyn, my father, the leader of our group. Being punished and put to death for trying to restore peace. You are wearing his protection necklace."

Oh my, God, I knew he looked similar to Oberyn. It was his son. Wait, so Oberyn was the previous Lord of Titan then, wow.

I wanted to tell Kace that I promised I would get his father out but, I had other things I was wanting to figure out first.

And wait, Evelyn's cousin. Okay, that took me by surprise.

"What group?"

"The Shadow Ancestry. Both your mother and grandmother were members. We formed this group over 200 years ago, your mother had been a new member and had replaced your grandmother who was killed trying to stop the war between the witches and the vampires but, as you know we, unfortunately, lost your mother recently. She was aware her end was near, the prophecy had said."

I was finding out allot like I didn't know that my grandmother died trying to bring about peace.

I thought she died because her powers were too overwhelming for her to carry.

"Prophecy?"

Kace nodded slowly, "behind this wall is where the shadow ancestry runs but, you will visit another day. And yes, there are many prophecies but, Aeliana told us the main one is you. You are going to be a force to be reckoned with, you are going to bring as much darkness as you will light. Darkness that will overwhelm you and light that will bring equality back in Asten."

Why me?

I am so confused.

I have no idea what is going on.

Prophecies are fake, aren't they?

"I haven't explained everything well and I'll leave it for the black witch to explain it all to you. However, before you go, I have to give you something..." Kace buried his hand in the inside pocket of his grey tailcoat.

He then pulled out a small silver thing which looked like an alcohol flask. I arched my eyebrow as he opened it and poured a bit on his hand.

An indigo-coloured liquid fell on his palm and began to burn some of his flesh away.

I grimaced and cautiously took a step back, "what are you doing? What is that?!"

Kace laughed and went back serious, "don't worry I'm half-vampire, I heal pretty quick. This is Nixon, a deadly substance not to be played about with. You are going to take this, it won't burn you like it did me because you're wearing the Nixon necklace. Remember never take the necklace off, you will be in immense danger if you do."

No wonder the black witch burnt herself on my necklace when she tried to touch it the other time, the Nixon.

I swallowed hard, "I won't ever take it off but what does the drink do? How do I know I can trust you and this group that my mother never told me she was in?"

"Your mother didn't tell you because she was trying to protect from it all like my father did but then I had to take his place since he was taken away from me, and you are going to do the same and take your mother's place... I'm not forcing you to drink this and I'm not begging you to help... But your future is already set out, whatever happens now cannot be changed."

I think I can trust this man, he claims he knew my mother and grandmother, he knows too much not to be trustworthy.

"I will think about it because I feel I can trust you but, I really really want to know what this 'Nixon' does?" I said as I retrieved the flask from Kace.

Kace clasped his hands, "if you decide to help, take a sip of this every day, it will become addictive due to the sensational taste but don't take more than a sip of it a day or you'll suffer the consequences of an overdose. And also don't miss a day or you'll suffer some unbearable symptoms. As soon as you start taking it, you won't be able to stop, it will become your daily drug..."

I pursed my lips still not exactly knowing what it does.

"As for what it does, your grandmother took this drug so that she could embrace the darkness within her, the Nixon never runs out, it replicates itself," Kace added.

Uhmmmmm. "Are you saying that whenever I take this I will become an evil version of myself?"

"You will be evil for the all the right reasons. The Nixon will help and allow you to teach yourself how to control the overwhelming darkness you carry but are oblivious of. On the plus side, every male vampire finds a bad girl who can kill a person remorselessly, very irresistible." Kace smirked and I lifted my brows at him.

I hope he ain't trying to flirt with me because I ain't feeling him right now. "The Nixon will make me kill people?"

"Only the irrelevant or bad ones, just trust me, you are a good person. You have nothing to worry about. And also, since we need you to win the IMPRESS event... The Nixon will help you to do just that. Then once you are queen, our targets will be easy to take down."

But what about Ella? Well, I guess if Ella loses a stage before the final, I will just have to try my best to save her. She shouldn't stop me from being Queen. Derek said and I quote 'nothing should stop you'.

There was a point I stopped being interested in the whole queen thing but, now that I am in the running to be Queen, I can't help but want it.

I made Todd a promise to keep Ella safe but, I didn't promise anything about not being queen.

This can't be me thinking on my own, right? Oh God, maybe the darkness is already spreading into my thoughts.

I'm worried.

I crossed my arms after placing the Nixon in my cloak pocket, "what targets?"

"-Oh my- I almost forgot, your guard is probably worried and your ladies are most likely bored of waiting. We better hurry you back!" Kace ignored my question purposely and grabbed my arm before speeding me off with me and causing me a boatload of dizziness.

What a gentleman.

Not.

***

"I thought you had been kidnapped! Never ever do that again, your brother would have killed me, where did you even go?!" Derek was trying his best not to yell as I entered the carriage but he was failing badly.

I rolled my eyes and took a seat beside Claudia, "Derek, I just went to put the horses back with Lord Titan who is very interested in Kiera." I wiggled my eyebrows at Kiera who looked away in embarrassment.

Derek sighed and calmed himself down, "at least you are back, safe and unharmed. I'm glad you aren't hurt. Thank you for not getting yourself killed... We are now going back to the castle."

I smiled sheepishly, "sorry for worrying you."

"You don't need to apologise, I shouldn't have assumed you were following behind us. My mistake..." Derek reached for the carriage curtains and winked before drawing them closed.

I buried my face in my hands and exhaled, what an eventful trip. I just need to sleep and speak to the black witch as soon as possible.
