Cassandra Pierce's POV~

"You turn me on so bad," I smushed my nose against Zac's forehead as he continued to leave wet and tender kisses down my neck.

I was panting, he was panting.

It was a completely heated session happening between him and I.

The sparks which flew were real and making love with him was the best feeling I had felt for a long time.

It wasn't my first time this. Before entering this competition, I passed myself around a fair bit, not easily of course but whenever I liked someone, I had them.

I was told by my sisters that my looks were my lucky charm.

"Not as much as you do me, you are the best I've had in bed by far and I rarely give out compliments," Zac smirked up at me as I sat on his lap and grasped his face in my hands.

He was so beautiful and I really liked him. I liked that he was a bad, scary, powerful, rich and blood-thirsty vampire.

I even liked all the nightmare-like stories that I was always told about the devilish prince back in Weimos.

The prince was a monster but he was my monster. And when I win this competition, it will be official.

Now that I've found out that Natalya my biggest threat in this competition doesn't care as much about winning, so I've heard anyway from her 'cousin' Ella who has quite the big mouth... I don't really have to worry.

Don't get me wrong, I still have my eyes out on her, Natalya could have been lying to Ella.

I mean Rose Clarke may actually be a big threat too, she had all the queen-like qualities, she was definitely an underdog.

Ella was not as much a threat, I could easily get rid of her and her golden hair. She was easy to trick and manipulate and kind of dumb.

Meredith, well, we all know she won't last.

"I would thank you, but, I don't pass out thank yous out that much either..." I smirked allowing my fangs to lengthen and my eyes to darken.

Zac was clearly impressed, his eyes were screaming hunger and lust.

When I was about to launch myself onto Zac in order to get him on his back so I could straddle him, interruptedly, his room door opened.

"Brother," it was Cathryn and she looked so disgusted, "Derek and Natalya are back, it's time to bury those two pigs from earlier." Cathryn spat as she popped the p in pig.

Zac pushed me off of him like I was just a blanket that had been making him too warm.

I wanted to groan out in frustration but instead, I glared at his back in annoyance.

Natalya was back and rumour had it that she was almost raped this morning by some old vampire guests from Icilia.

I do feel bad for her but I'm all about putting on a mask of boredom. I don't like having people read me. I knew Zac could do that but, whenever he read me like a book, he would just find out how much I liked him and practically worshipped his feet.

Back on the note of Natalya. That girl is a problem, she may not be competing for the same reasons as me but that doesn't mean Zac won't fall for her.

I had to speak to Natalya alone and ask what she wished to gain from this event.

She was human, a very beautiful one that smelled really good and had an attractive brother. I don't understand why Zac and every other man and woman is acting like she is super special?

I'm a vampire, a beautiful one that could easily kill Natalya but they won't treat me the same as her. Except Queen Melisandre, I think I'm her favourite.

When I bumped into her on the castle corridor last night, she basically implied it.

"Get your clothes back on, Cassandra. We all have a funeral to attend..." Zac threw my dress at me and I huffed out just after Cathryn sent me a victorious smile.

I get the feeling that I am not in Zac's sister's good books. I should maybe work on her. I'm sure we would make great friends. She likes killing, I like killing. See perfect friends.

"Yes, your grace. ANY thing for you," my words almost came out of my mouth like I was being sarcastic but, really I meant it.

I would do anything for the prince and his family.

Anything.

Meanwhile...

Natalya's POV~

Viktor had just left after me and my ladies bid him farewell. He had entered a carriage and headed back to his wife in Miriadan.

I had got him some money that Derek had got from somewhere. God knows where but, I gave him enough to be able to treat his wife and live well.

I made sure to send the bodies of his children with him with extra money to give them proper burials.

Viktor told me he owed me his life and he would definitely visit me again anytime I want.

I thanked him and told him he owed me nothing but, he still kept his word that he would still help me with anything I need in the future.

Now I was with Alaric. Walking beside him as we made our way to the outside courtyard where a massive crowd had gathered to watch two of the people I loathed beheaded.

"How was the trip, anything interesting happen? Did Derek take good care of you?" Alaric asked as we continued to walk the halls.

I was still wearing a cloak over my green dress which had the Nixon tucked away inside the right pocket.

"He took great care and the trip was crazy. I met Derek's mother which was funny and I also met this guy who knew mum and grandmother Andrea." I revealed using my hands to express my words.

Alaric abruptly stopped laughing about the Derek's mother bit when I mentioned that a 'guy' knew our mum.

He stopped both of us from working and turned to look at me as he lifted his brow, "what guy?"

"Kace Titan, the leader of Ti-"

"Kace Titan?" Alaric questioned.

"Yes! Oberyn's son!" I said enthusiastically and Alaric's mouth dropped open.

I furrowed my eyebrows at his shock, "Are you okay?"

Alaric swallowed after eventually closing his mouth, "I- I- I didn't know Lord Titan was Oberyn's son. No one knows that... Wow, no one can know about this, not even Lord Hilbert. We will talk about this later."

I nodded instantly.

Well then.

Maybe telling Alaric everything isn't a good idea because knowing my brother, he will begin planning things on his own and keep me out of it because he thinks he will be keeping me 'safe'.

"Okay..."

***

I was tugging my cloak over my exposed chest from an instinct of Lord McLaren and Jamie Hayes being let up onto the wooden podium.

Hanging my head slightly clearly uncomfortable at the many eyes of the crowd that kept glancing my way.

Especially the stares I was getting from the 4 girls especially my cousin, Ella, who was eyeing me with pitiful eyes.

The Queen and King hadn't attended the beheading ceremony and I was guessing it was because they wanted Zac as the future ruler of Asten to become more comfortable with the idea of being in control and independent of his father.

However, the black witch or as I now know her, Aeliana, had managed to attend. As a matter of a fact, she was stood beside me. Silent as the clouds while the townspeople surrounding us spit an onslaught of profanity at Hayes and McLaren.

I would be taking the opportunity to speak to her now but my attention and eyes were busy focusing elsewhere.

Like the crowd, Cathryn was stood at the side of the wooden podium with Zac and Xander, watching everything unfold. Following the direction of her eyes, I watched the male executor cloaked in back from head to toe, cuff Jamie and Lord McLaren into separate guillotines.

The headsmen then brought axe-like weapons up onto the podium, preparing for a gruesome beheading

I swallowed hard and nervously when Lord McLaren made eye contact with me. His eyes were riddled with fear, screaming for me to stop this madness. How could I forgive him when he had never uttered an apology even once...

With that thought, I looked away to avoid his emotional manipulation, and tried to drown my guilty conscience in the sound of crowd's chants. Everyone was eager for the execution to begin, but I was starting to question whether this was just.

I desperately needed someone to lean on in a time like this but Harrison wasn't here and Alaric had left me alone because duty called, and the King personally requested his presence on a hunt.

So when I felt Evelyn rub my shoulder reassuringly, I thanked her with a grateful smile before steeling myself for the following.

"This is a reminder to everyone of what happens when you cross me, learn from this and pray you don't find yourself in a situation like this!" Zac roared out stepping forward and allowing his eyes to burn red.

When he noticed me in the audience, he sent me a chuffed little smirk before going to stand beside Xander and Cathryn who were both smiling down at me in pity.

"Wow, you've made quite the impression on them..."

That familiar sinister and womanly voice sounded beside me and I turned to look at the black witch who was facing straight forward elegantly.

When I didn't reply on time she continued to speak, "Prince Zac would have never done this for even a vampire girl he loved. I'm surprised his doing this for a human girl he barely even knows especially."

"I guess people change..." I easily replied after regaining my speech and confidently lifting my chin up to watch the execution.

The black witch snickered, "darling, the prince doesn't and will never change. Mark my words before your heart is broken."

I rolled my eyes, completely ignored her negative bullshit and allowed a small, exaggerated laugh to escape my lips.

I knew she was only being true but I didn't want to agree, maybe because it stung knowing Zac would always be naturally more selfish rather than selfless.

"Okay, Aeliana..." Without looking at her the corners of my lips lifted up into an I know more than you think smile.

From the corner of my eye, I saw the black witch's head snap around and felt her purple eyes burn into the side of my face.

"Who told you my name?" The black whispered harshly although I was sure no one was listening to us due to being more focused on the execution.

I lifted my index finger and pressed it against my lips.

The black witch seemed frustrated as she exhaled loudly and turned back to face the podium.

"We shall speak after," Aeliana muttered and I hummed a yes in response.

The headsman on the podium picked up his beheading axe sending small shivers down my spine.

Am I really ready to see two of the people I saw almost everyday Icilia die because of me?

A huge part of me was screaming of course! But a smaller part of me was like maybe this is my fault.

I breathed in and as the cloaked man went to stand at the side of Jamie who's head and hands were bobbing out of the guillotine.

This was happening, two of my childhood tormentors finally getting what they had deserved for a long time.

Jamie's eyes connected with mine and this time I allowed him to look into my soul which was currently bitter towards him.

His eyes were glazed over and soft, communicating the fact he was obviously scared.

"Please," he mouthed but I didn't reply with words, the dark side of me was shining through as I guiltlessly glared at him.

As his expression was about to morph into one of annoyance, it had happened.

The axe had decapitated his head from his body.

The blood spewed out, some of it splattering on my face but causing no reaction from me and just an emotion of satisfaction.

I watched as Jamie's head rolled off the front of the podium and was caught by other men dressed in black cloaks.

My eyes turned to Zac who was hungrily staring at both me and the blood pouring from Jamie Hayes' lifeless body.

The royals did thirst for any kind of blood.

Zac flashed his fangs at me, darkening his eyes and sadistically smiled at the scene that was taking place.

It was now Lord McLaren's turn.

Saying Lord McLaren was petrified would be an understatement because he was more than just that, he was frightened, terrified of death.

"MERCY! MERCY! I BEG YOU MASTER!" Lord McLaren cried out and the crowd booed at him, throwing stones and red fruit at trapped hands and head.

On instinct, a deadly smirk had crept onto my face, so deadly that when the black witch noticed it, she shook.

"That's the darkness which will bring Asten to its rise and fall, let it embrace you," I heard her comment and registered every word she spoke.

Evelyn was enjoying the execution, she was yelling for the headsman to hurry up.

That reminds me, I have a lot of talking to do with Evelyn about how she was related to Kace Titan and Oberyn too but didn't tell me.

"Your pleas only make me want to kill you even faster," Zac spoke out demonically.

The way he looked right now was beyond mesmerising, he looked so evil and bad which was highly attractive in a strange way.

I think I kind of liked Zac doing bad things for me, I don't know if it's the darkness talking or me but this is how I felt.

"Kill him," Zac ordered.

And when the axe hit the back of McLaren's neck, a small, relieved gasp escaped my mouth.

It was over.

I walked towards the podium where the head that had dropped from McLarens rolled in front of me.

More blood managed to hit my face but I didn't let that faze me, I just bent down slightly and looked into the eyes of a dead enemy.

The crowd were applauding Zac and the executioner.

The smile on my face grew bigger, a whole lot of weight had left my shoulders.

Two people from my list had gone. Out of my life. Forever.

When I heard footsteps on the podium approaching me, I glanced up to face a very sexy monster that had gained a wide amount of respect from me today.

Zac leant down beside Lord McLaren's head and pushed it off the podium before leaning further down to my ear.

And just beside me ear, he roughly whispered, "I'd like a visit to my bedchamber tonight at 8."

He kissed just under my ear and released my face before I watched him depart both with Xander and Cathryn.

Zac had left me speechless. I can't help but feel tingly at his invitation to his room.

When I turned around, I saw Cassandra Pierce stood arms crossed glaring at me, mirroring the same stance as my cousin Ella and Meredith.

The only one who didn't look like murdering me was Rose Clarke, she faintly smiled at me and turned to leave the crowd.

My attention drifted then when I caught the black witch motioning for me to follow her.

I gulped and let my feet follow her path.

"How did you know my grandmother Andrea?" I asked cutting straight to the point.

The black witch Aeliana had led me to her room which was small and simple but still pretty.

I had been given a better bedroom than the witch which was quite unfair because she had been here longer, serving the royals.

Aeliana provided me with a single, rose-pink sofa to sit on and sat across me on another sofa.

"I'm a very old witch, I've been alive for even longer than the King. Before King Creon, like 1000 years ago the witches ruled Asten and helped hold its peace. All of us supernatural creatures were on good terms until your grandmother came into the picture..."

I leant forward becoming deeply engrossed in the story being told.

"Andrea was just like you although she was a vampire, she was stunning, every man's dream, a powerful pureblood that was prophesied to bring every man and woman to their rise and fall. Your grandmother was a lovely woman until the darkness no one knew she carried, consumed her." Aeliana continued.

I kept on listening, "Andrea was a powerful gem and she made a pact to help the witches keep a peace. Until a vampire fell for her at the same time a witch did. Causing a war to break forth."

Gosh.

"Oberyn, the man locked up for being nothing but a pure legend in his own name was the witch that succeeded in winning your grandmother's heart. Your grandmother turned him into a half-vampire because she had the power to do so, especially when blood-thirsty."

I hummed understanding now why Oberyn was young-looking.

"That made the vampire in love with your grandmother, very angry. The vampire who was born with special blood that allowed him to take the crown for himself. The first ever King who could control fire and brought a large army of vampires together that were able to destroy all witches that were in power altogether."

"So the vampires are the rightful rulers of Asten, they have special blood that no one else has. I don't see the problem." I shrugged.

Except the fact, most of my family had special blood.

The black witch cleared her throat, "me, Oberyn and some others were the only ones that survived that era. Your grandmother Andrea died in the hands of the old King, she died when she had no witch or anyone to help her control the powers and darkness she had only just found out she had."

Aeliana continued, "Oberyn fled from the castle and built the city that is Titan. I was very young at the time and my life was spared when I was taken by the royals to help serve them for as long as I live. And witches don't believe vampires with special blood are rightful rulers, the prophecies witches have show us rightful rulers. And the prophecy I have had recently has shown you as the ruler of Asten. The one who will restore its peace."

I clasped my hands and sighed, "how is that possible. I'm not a pureblood like my grandmother, just a human."

"There is so much to the story. But you would be here all day. All you have to know is that the royals now, they don't want anyone to threaten their position and that means you and your brother can never ever expose yourselves until you have the kingdom at your feet." The black witch said.

"I met Kace Titan. He told me what I need to do to help. He told me you knew everything about me, you knew my parents, you knew they would die, you knew I was coming. Everything." I responded.

The black witch nodded, "darling, do the right thing. Never take the necklace off, drink the Nixon I know he gave you and win the IMPRESS event and I swear, there will never be an evil gone unpunished in Asten. Ever again."

It was ten minutes until eight, I had to go visit Zac.

There was so much more to ask the witch, like who was my mother's father. Oberyn or The King?

"I will help you but, I want to learn more about all of this. I will visit you tomorrow before stage 2."

She gave me a simple nod before I dashed out the room and made my way to Zac's bedchamber.

[7:57 pm]

With an uneasy smile on my face, I encountered the four guards parked in front of Zac's room.

I recognised none of them which made me more uncomfortable, "could you inform Zac that I'm here?"

The guard I was giving most eye contact gave me a brief nod, before knocking then entering Zac's room. "Master, Alaric's sister, Lady Ascelyn is here to see you."
