Brian was now in stable condition, and he was in the hospital recuperating from his injuries when a nurse brought Sarah in, and she now had returned to her normal weight. "Hey Brian."

Brian replied. "Oh, hi honey. How've things been since I've been gone?"

Sarah explained. "Nothing much has happened. Other than the fact that your stabbing has brought more attention to VideoVision. Now it's pretty much famous nationwide."

Brian was not surprised. "Just as I suspected. My stabbing's been talked about 24/7."

Sarah went on. "I'm pretty sure I remember hearing that there's gonna be a TV movie made about the incident."

Brian replied. "Hmm......probably won't be that good. You know, I have the strangest feeling that this won't be the first time that VideoVision will make the news."

Sarah asked. "Why?"

Brian replied. "Because with everything that's gone on the past two years, there's enough drama for a whole book series!"

Sarah replied. "But Brian, who would want to watch us! Our relationship is pretty normal!"

Brian reminded Sarah. "Well in case you forgot honey, I had an affair with you while I was still married, you've been kidnapped by your own mother, and I've been stabbed over the course of our relationship. The TV movie will probably talk about that too!"

Sarah replied. "Looks like we're not as boring as I thought. Who would you want to be played by?"

Brian replied. "Mark Hamill definitely. I've been told I look a lot like him."

Just then, Brian remembered something. "Isn't Veronica going to her first high school party today?"

Sarah nodded. "Certainly. She's very excited for the event. I'll make sure to send her your kindest regards when I get home. See ya soon!"

Brian waved goodbye as Sarah grabbed her purse and left.

That evening, Veronica and Matt were on their way to their first party, excited yet a little nervous about the prospects the night held for the both of them. She backed the car into her friend's parking lot, and knocked on the door. Her friend let her in, and she felt a tinge of anxiety as she entered, even though she had friends, she knew that she'd probably embarrass herself one way or another. She spent most of the party talking with her friends and dancing to records, but just before the party ended, she saw the most adorable boy refilling his cup of punch. He had shoulder-length light brown hair, and the most chiseled jawline. She said to her friends as she gapingly-jawed stared at the dreamboat standing before her eyes. "Oh my god. That is the cutest boy I have ever seen in my entire life. What's his name?"

Matt replied. "That's Marshall Maxwell, the son of the richest man in California, Livingston Maxwell. He has straight A's in all his classes, quarterback of the football team at Rockfeller prep, and the most popular boy in his school."

Veronica asked. "How do you know all of this?"

Matt replied. "My best friend attends his school. Everybody who attends knows his name."

Veronica sighed. "Well, considering all of that information, I might as well not bother. Why would he want to date me? I'm ugly as hell!"

Matt tried to motivate Veronica. "Come on, even if you blow it, you'll always have me. You'll always have everybody at VideoVision. Besides, the girls you hang out with aren't even your real friends. If he blows you off, they're all gonna laugh at you. But your real friends will stick by you till the end. They're far more important than some rich man's son."

Veronica considered Matt's advice. "You know what Matt? You're right. Perhaps I should at least say hello to him."

She kissed Matt on the forehead and walked over to Marshall as he was reclining on the couch. "Oh, hello Maxwell."

"Hi."

"How you liking the party?"

Maxwell replied. "It's alright....nothing to write home about."

Veronica replied. "But it's a party! Aren't you having fun?"

Maxwell sighed. "It's hard to have fun when you've been to these sort of functions many times before. It gets a bit boring after awhile, especially when your friends don't like when you mess around."

Veronica asked. "Then why do you attend?"

Maxwell replied. "I guess to keep up appearances. But both my friends and especially my parents want me to be Mr. Goody-two-shoes 24-7. My parents are always pushing me to attend an Ivy League school and get a 'respectable job' whatever that means."

Veronica was heartbroken by Maxwell's predicament. "What job do you want to have?"

Maxwell explained. "I want to go to art school but my parents think it's too 'effeminate.' They tell me they won't be paying if I ever decide I'm going."

Veronica replied. "Your life must suck with parents like that!"

Maxwell replied. "I know. But you just gotta roll with the punches."

Veronica decided to comfort Maxwell. "You know, a friend once told me that the ones who stick around if you decide to do something out of the ordinary are your real friends. The ones who won't support you are phonies. From what I'm hearing, your friends and your parents seem to be phonies. I think that you should tell your parents that you're going to art school no matter what they say."

Maxwell replied. "But how am I going to pay the tuition?!"

Veronica replied. "Who cares? You'll always have me. By the way, my name's Veronica. Can I call you Max?"

Max nodded. "Mind if I take you home? My parents are on vacation at the moment."

Veronica smiled. "I'd love too."

She left the party with Max, happy that the party had went as well as she hoped.

Well reader, I see you've reached the end of this story. If you've continued reading up to this point, good for you. You must have a lot of patience. Unfortunately, after a lot of thinking, I have decided to retire from writing. One day, I shall come back. Yes, I shall come back. Until then, there must be no regrets, no tears, no anxieties. Just go forward in all your beliefs and prove to me that I am not mistaken in mine.
