February 28 1981

Vincent Johnston pulled into the parking lot of the apartment building, excited to pay his niece a visit after 6 months apart. He jovially strided to the door, and after the doorman opened it for him, he approached the elevator and pressed the button. The elevator doors opened and as soon as he entered, he pressed the button that would take him to the second floor. The elevator ascended to his destination, and he scanned the hallway for his niece's apartment. Eventually, he found it and he knocked three times. Tiffany answered, and she was pleasantly surprised to see her uncle standing there, all smiles. Tiffany said, in a cheerful tone. "Why, if it isn't my funcle Vincent."

Vincent grinned. "It certainly is, sweetie. Now let's take a seat and talk about what you've been up to lately."

The two sat down on Tiffany's bed as she spoke about how her life had been going ever since moving out of her her uncle's apartment in New York. "Living in California's been alright. Everybody seems pretty nice, it's a fine place to live."

Vincent nodded. "Well, from what I've seen so far, I have to agree with your description."

The two spent the rest of the hour talking about Vince's gambling buddies. "And Lawrence says to me, I won the bet, you're not getting the money back but the thing is, that guy got second place and my guy did! He was just doing that to annoy me! Like I always say, Tiff. Never trust a man with a beard. They've always got tricks up their sleeves."

Tiffany smiled. "It's great to see your back to your old self after your cancer went into remission. You're so lucky to have survived."

Vincent smiled. "I certainly am, honey. I am very lucky to have caught it early. Some people find out they have prostate cancer too late, they end up dying from that dreadful disease."

Tiffany nodded in agreement. "I know. But at least you're here with me today. You beat cancer's ass, just like you do every other problem." The two embraced each other in a long hug that seemed to last forever.
