*Layla*

"I'm so late," I groaned as I ran through the hallways. "Marcie is going to be pissed."

I finally made it to the ballroom and went to push the door open when I heard my name being said.

"Why do you even spend time with that Layla girl?" One of the visitors asked and I held my breath.

"Yeah," another one scoffed. "She looks like a fat cow."

"Her dad works my parents," Marcie said. "My parents force me to be her friend, if it was my choice I'd never even speak or look at her. I mean she makes me look bad and all she's good at is getting fat."

I gasped stumbling back as tears started falling down my cheeks as I listened to what I thought was my friend talk about me behind my back. I backed away from the door and ran to the door that leads out to the gardens trying to shake the words out of my head.

"Layla?" I jumped looking back seeing Ian staring at me.

"Hi Ian," I smiled wiping the tears off my cheeks. "I didn't know you were out here."

"What happened?" He asked walking closer to me and watched his eyes darken with anger as he wiped under my eyes. "Who made you cry?"

  "It's nothing," I mumbled. "I'm just being a baby."

"You're not a baby," he grumbled rubbing his thumb across my cheek. "You can tell me."

"Can we just drop it?" I asked looking down at my sneakers. "I'm just going to go home, I'll talk to you later Ian."

"Layla..." I ran away from him and headed to my car so I could head to mine and my dad's house.

After glancing at all the college assignments on my bed I made up my mind and called my dad getting him to help me transfer into a college away from here.
