*Layla*

After escaping to my room without Ariel, Sarah, and Frankie I took another shower and got changed into some of my pajamas and knee high socks grabbed my laptop and quietly made my way to the library to get some work done on my article. As always I got lost in my work and didn't realize how late it had gotten until I sat back and glanced at the clock on my phone, yawning I laid my head down and closed my eyes.

*Ian*

I was staring at the necklace while laying in bed when I heard loud banging on the door, confused I got up and walked out of my bed room to open the door finding Gunner standing there.

"What is it?" I questioned confused on why he was here at one o'clock in the morning.

"Layla never came back to her room," he said and my eyes widen in fear. "But I have a feeling she's in the library here but I can't find it."

"Give me a minute," I said rushing back to bedroom stripping out of my pajama bottoms and into some sweats, pulled a t-shirt on and socks and hurrying back to the front walking down the hallway with Gunner. "Why do you think she's in the library?"

"Her laptop was missing alone with her phone," he said as we turned a corner. "She was probably going to work on her article and lost track of time. Thomas, Ariel and I sometimes have to force her to sleep and eat because she forgets with she's on a job. Especially after the one a few years ago."

"What happened a few years ago?" I asked confused.

"That more Layla's story to tell," he said as we came to the library doors. "But because of what happened is why I'm so protective of her and why I will kill you if you hurt her in any way, shape, or fashion."

"I won't hurt her," I said slightly angry. "I've been in love with Layla since I was ten years old and she first moved here with Joe."

"Good to know," he nodded moving to where a soft light was coming and I stopped when I saw Layla sleeping with her head on her arms. Gunner chuckled softly as her covered her with the blanket he was holding.

"Your not going to mover her?" I asked softly staring at the peaceful and youthful look on her face.

"No," he said shaking his head moving to the couch and I on the other end. "She has nightmares a lot so when she's sleeping peacefully I don't try to move or wake her up."

"She panicked when she woke up in my rooms earlier," I said laying my head back. "I felt so fucking helpless at the sight of fear in her eyes."

"She's too innocent and yet knows all about the evil in the world," Gunner said and I hummed closing my eyes.

*Layla*

I yawned rubbing my eyes as I sat up feeling something roll off my shoulder and I looked down to see a blanket, confused I picked it up before recognizing it as the one off my bed. Shaking my head I figured Gunner had found me and I glanced over at the couch only to cover my mouth stifling my giggles as I saw Gunner asleep with Ian laying on top him as they cuddled, biting my I quickly grabbed my phone and snapped a picture. Ian sat up some blinking as he looked down and Gunner stretched opening his eyes and they both yelled jumping away from each other and I lost it laughing so hard I fell out of the chair I was in.

"You're faces," I giggled holding my stomach as they glared playfully down at me. "That was so funny."

"Haha," Gunner grumbled going to walk past me and I wrapped my arms around his leg.

"No leave me," I yelled and he laughed shaking his head bending down to picking the blanket up and I let him go getting fixing my socks and throwing my hair up in a messy bun before turning to a smiling Ian. "What?"

"Nothing," he said kissing my forehead. "You hungry?"

Before I could answer him my stomach growled and I blushed dropping my gaze as both boys chuckled.

"Lets get some food in the monster shall we," Ian chuckled and I stuck my tongue out at him before turning and jumping on Gunner's back.

"Onward knight," I yelled playfully and Gunner growled wrapping him arms around me so I don't fall off his back as the three of us headed to the dining room. When we got there I ignored all the sounds of shock and confusion as Gunner walked over and grabbed a cup of coffee and a cup of hot chocolate before we walked over and I sat down beside my dad.

"Morning sweetie," he smiled kissing the side of my forehead and I smiled pulling my feet up in the chair with me.

*Ian*

I watched as Layla and her father spoke quietly as I drank my coffee before turning to look at Nessa but noticed her gaze was caught on something else or rather someone else.

"His name's Gunner," I said softly in her ear and she blushed dropping her gaze. "Go talk to him."

"No," she shook her head. "Gabriel and father are here and I don't want to deal with their attitudes this early."

"Meet me in my office in two hours," I said softly before walking over to Layla and Joe.
