Twenty Two - Rosemary dough sticks

Aria's POV

Cody pulls out a seat for me and I sit down and then he goes and sits opposite me.

The restaurant is way better then I expected. It is a rooftop restaurant that is located on top of the OXO tower. One side of the restaurant has a wall of glass and has a view of the city with the thames river and the London bridge right outside.

It's very elegant and probably expensive.

I smile and look at the little boats on the river that look tiny from all the way up here.

"You like?" Cody asks, smiling at me then looking at the view.

"Love." I say and pick up the menu. He chuckles slightly and looks at his menu as well.

"Hello, can I take your orders?" A waitress asks, smiling happily at us. Damn, that was fast.

"Um, I think I will have a piña colada to drink and to eat I'll have the eggs Benedict with salmon, please put the hollandaise sauce on the side." Cody asks after I say that I am still looking.

The stuff on this menu is way too expensive.

"For you ma'am?" she says, looking at me.

"Can I have bread sticks and tap water?" I ask.

"You mean the rosemary dough sticks?" she asks, slightly chuckling.

"Yes, the bread sticks." I state, nodding.

"Is there anything else I could get you guys?" she asks the both of us, trying not to laugh.

Cody smirks at me, "You sure that's all you want? I am paying, you know?" he asks me and I nod.

"Yeah, that's all. Thank you." he says to the waitress and she nods, walking away.

"You're having bread sticks?" Cody asks, laughing at me. "Why?" he adds, still chuckling and shaking his head.

"This place is expensive! Those bread sticks are five freaking pounds! I can buy, like, four large McDonalds fries with that!" I state and Cody puts his face in his hands, his body shaking with silent laughter.

"So Cody, tell me about you. I mean, I think this is the most you have ever said to me, probably anyone actually, so get talking mister."

He is about to say something but the same waitress as before interrupts, "Sorry to disturb you, the barista just wants me to check your ID to make sure you can have alcohol in your piña colada." she says, looking at Cody.

Cody pulls an ID card out of his pocket and shows it to the waitress and she nods and walks off. I chuckle, "Nice to meet you Jackie Lo." I say.

Cody chuckles and rolls his eyes, slipping the fake ID back into his pocket. "I thought you're over eighteen." I state.

"I am, I'm twenty three but I don't think people will react very well if they find out Cody Lolin is in their restaurant." he explains and winks.

Oh right, I forgot, I'm eating breakfast with a wanted killer.

Silly me.

"Wait, so how old are the rest of the guys?" I ask.

"Grayson is eighteen, Wilson is twenty one, Vincent is also twenty three, Daniel is twenty and Charlie is twenty two." he says and I nod, frowning.

"Okay Jackie, so tell me about you." I state, leaning my chin on my palm.

"Um, I..." Cody taps his chin, "This is harder then I thought." he points out.

"Okay let me ask you questions then. Every question I ask, you can ask me one too. You have to answer honestly though." I state.

Cody nods, "Okay deal, unless I don't want to tell you, then I'll just lie." he state and shrugs. I glare at him and he chuckles.

"Whatever, I'll go first. Why are you always so quiet? Like, you're talking to me now, but normally you don't say a word." I ask.

Cody sighs, "Well, I think that if you don't have anything good to say then don't say anything at all, right? Most of the time I am judging people and I have nothing nice to say so I don't say anything." he states and chuckles.

I chuckle with him and shake my head, "Well, that's one way of putting it." I state.

"Okay, my turn. Is there anything you're allergic to?" he asks and I nod.

"Yeah... Bullshit." I state, "I start sneezing and coughing whenever I hear it." I state and Cody just chuckles again.

"I'm actually allergic to watermelon. It's bad, once I ate it when I was three and had to go to hospital." I confess. "Next. Why do you trust me or even talk to me? Like, I could stand up right now and scream rape or that you kidnapped me and you can go to jail. Also, you are actually talking to me. You just... Don't seem like the talking type." I ask.

He shrugs, "I don't know, to be honest. I just like you, not like you as in I have feelings for you but you're really adorable and funny and..." Cody sighs and puts his face in his hands.

"And...?"

"You remind me of my sister." he whispers, looking up at me and slightly smiling.

Well, if I did have a thing for Cody that would be some major sibling zone right there.

"Where is she?" I whisper.

"She died." he says, "I-I don't know what happened. I mean, everything was fine and I was happy with my parents and her but then my dad lost his job and we lost everything so I joined this gang to get money but I didn't think about the consequences. The Scorch, they were the biggest and scariest gang at the time, their leader; Klifton Jax, found me and took me hostage and my sister went looking for me and Klifton found her and he killed her in front of me and," A tear rolls down his cheek and I take his hand in mine, rubbing circles on his skin with my thumb.

"My parents called the police because we were both missing and Klifton found them somehow and killed them too." he whispers the last part, wiping his tears away and holding tightly onto my hand.

"I'm sorry," he laughs through his tears. "What about your family?" Cody asks.

I look down at the white table cloth. The waitresses brings our food and I pick up a bread stick, "My mom committed suicide. My dad used to hurt her and she couldn't take it anymore so she filled her car with the carbon monoxide from the exhaust and she died. I don't know what happened to my dad but my brother is all I have now." I explain and Cody nods, stabbing the yolk of the poached egg.

"Knock knock." Cody says, smiling at me.

"Who's there?"

"Interrupting cow."

"Interrupting cow-" I am about to finish off the sentence when Cody cuts me off.

"Moo." he states and burst out laughing. I sigh and shake my head, trying not to laugh but failing.

Cody doesn't seem to laugh a lot but when he does you can't help but laugh with him.

~~~~~
We finish eating and Cody pays for the bill, "If those rosemary dough sticks were not filling enough, we can stop at McDonalds and get your fries." he says, making fun of the way they labeled bread sticks.
I grin at him as we walk out the building, "I think I might love you forever if you do that." I state and Cody just chuckles.
I jump onto Cody's back as he pays for the parking ticket and he stumbles foward, shocked, but he grabs onto my legs, holding me up so I don't fall, "You could've warned me." he states, keeping his grip under my thighs firm. I hold onto him tightly, "What was that for, anyway?" he adds, walking to his car with me on his back.
"For Narnia!" I shout.
