"I hate school", I heard Hailey shouted beside me, throwing the book she was reading. We were studying for our mid tests.

I looked at her amused. "You and me both, babe", I mumbled.

She scoffed. "Please. You're the one who insist to do this study session", she air quoting the study session word.

"We have no choice Hailey, unless we're failing. I swear college is a hard of work", Caleb said as he laying down on the sofa, playing with his phone.

"You're the one talking", Hailey rolled her eyes.

"Geez, keep it down", Steven complained as he was trying to explain the lesson to Jenny.

"Look who become nerds", Hailey mocked them.

I chuckled. I was studying Biology for tomorrow. It was my last test. So far I did well on my other tests.

"Hey, why Mike's not here?", Hailey asked as she checking on her phone.

"He has tutor with his friends too", I said, still focusing on my book.

"Is this what college gonna be for the rest of 4 years? Do the tutoring everytime we're having tests. I wanna cry", Hailey said dramatically.

"I don't mind, though", Caleb said.

"Yeah, because you don't do anything. All you did just texting some skanks", Hailey snapped.

"Ah, I get it now!", Jenny squaled. "Thanks so much Steve. You're my life saver"

"God, help me", Hailey said lifting her head to the ceiling.

"Come on, I'll help you", I said, sitting beside her.

The tutor went on for another hour. Though most of us didn't really concentrate studying, but at last, we could manage understanding the topics for the test, even Caleb.

"So that's how you got the X, you get it now?", I explained the same thing to Caleb over and over again. Caleb and Jenny both had math test tomorrow.

Caleb looked seriously at the paper I wrote and nodded slowly.

"Now, try solve this problem", I said and he obeyed.

I took a glance on my watch and it was already 6 PM. It seemed that the time flew so fast.

Finally, when Caleb solved the problem correctly, all of us left Halley's room. I was the one who left last, because I helped Hailey to clean up the mess we made.

"Night, Linda. Thanks for helping me", she smiled.

"Night too", I hugged her.

Before I left the dorm, I tried to knock on Mike's door but it seemed that he wasn't home yet. So, I directly went back home.

Mike'd been pretty busy since a week before the mid tests. From what I knew, Mike's last test was today. So, how come he was tutoring?

Negativity crossed my mind, but I shook my head. No way. Maybe he was tutoring for his friend who would have test tomorrow. Yeah, it must be it.

I directly went to my room after I got home. I didn't saw Brian or Ethan. Maybe they went out?

I laid myself on the bed, trying to recall my Biology lessons just now. I had no problem with the lesson. But there were some nasty names that I always forgot.

After laying like that for quite some time, I heard a knock on my door, making me sat up. I opened the door and saw Ethan. He smiled sheepishly.

"Dinner's ready. We're having Chinese takeouts. Is it OK?"

I nodded then followed him behind to the kitchen. Brian was there, sitting as he was looking at his phone.

He lifted his head when he saw us and smiled to me. I gave back a tight smile.

We ate the dinner in silence. But I didn't mind the tension. When Brian finished his food, he still sat there. He looked nervous. I saw that both Brian and Ethan were exchanging looks which making me nervous as well.

"Linda", he called.

I looked at him, still eating my food.

"I need to tell you something", he said, looking in my eyes.

I stopped eating and sat back on my chair, resting my arms against my chest. I waited for him to talk but he didn't say anything which made me annoyed.

Ethan was waiting for him to talk too, though it seemed that he knew what Brian wanted to say.

"Well?", I said, trying to be patient this time.

"It's about mom and dad", Brian let out a sigh.

I rolled my eyes and continued my eating. "What about them?", I asked, not really interested when it comes about them.

"They're coming for Thanksgiving", he said.

I looked at him disbelief. What the fuck did they want to come? Brian seemed to read my thoughts.

"It's nothing, OK? They just want to see us and they miss you", he added.

"Sure they do", I said, standing up and gather my plates to the sink. Anger surrounded me. The plate that I was washing was slammed loudly.

"Look, Linda I know you won't like it. But they're still our parents", Brian tried to reason with me.

"Yeah, our parents who left us", I snapped.

"That's not true", he said.

I turned around and scoffed. "You're defending them", I said, walking back to my room. He followed me behind.

"I know they're not the best parents. But they still care for us. Just give them a chance", he begged. "Just one night"

"You can tell them to go to hell", I said before slamming the door right in front of his face. I knew it wasn't his fault, but with my temper now, I couldn't help it. I was annoyed with them coming here.

I thought with me not in the same town with them would free me from them.

I had a plan to sneak out to the campus if they came. I couldn't go to Mike's or Hailey's place because they would go home having Thanksgiving dinner with their folks.

I didn't know why they came though. Whatever their reasons were, I still didn't want to see them.
