     On the second week of June, the registered 1600 participants of the Duel Monsters would head to Tokyo to duel their opponents.

Tokio or Konami as he has registered on his form was scheduled to battle his opponent on Friday of the 2nd week of June. Before meeting his opponent, Tokio doesn't have a clue about his opponent's identity. And he only knows his opponent as Duelist 125.

On Friday while donning the disguise of the red cap, Tokio arrives at the duel arena located in Tokyo. The National Duel Monsters tournament is both sponsored by Industrial Illusions and the Kaiba Corp. The latter contributed with their virtual reality simulation black technology while tje former was the one who was managing the tournament, taking care of miscellaneous things and of course, they are the company behind the duel monsters.

Tokio watched as an audience in the duel arena on the previous matches. He watched all of them and tried to predict who would be the winner of the duel. Other than that, he was watching their duel because he wanted to become more familiar with the current rules of the Duel Monsters.

The summary of the current Duel Monsters rules is as follows:

1. Players started with 2000 life points
2. Players can only have 40 cards and their cards are shuffled by their opponent
3. A player loses the duel if their life points are reduced to 0.
4. At the beginning of the duel, players draw 5 cards which become their hand cards.
5. One normal summon per turn

6. Monsters summoned can be summoned in a face-up attack position, face-up defense, and set down defense.
7. Monsters can be flipped in a face-up attack or defense
8. Any monsters can be summoned
9. If a player doesn't control a monster and is unable to summon a monster, the player loses the duel
10. Player can only attack once per turn
11. Player cannot attack directly
12. If a monster is destroyed by the effect of the card, half its attack is dealt with the opponent's life points.
13. Spell cards can be used in a player's and opponent's turn and can also be used from their hands.
14. Monsters are equipped with another monster and are still treated as a monster card.
15. Trap cards are triggered when the activation requirements are met and can be used in either player or opponent's turn
16. Monster Cards are divided into two types. Normal Monster Card and Spellcaster Cards. Monster and Spellcasters have weaknesses.
17. Black magic spell casters are strong against White magic spell casters, White casters are strong against demon spell casters, demon spell casters are strong against illusion spell casters and illusion spell casters are strong against black magic spell casters.
18. There are 7 elements in the game. Earth, Fire, Water, Lightning, Earth, Light, and Dark. Wood is weak against Fire. Fire is weak against Water. Water is weak against Lightning. Lightning weak against Earth. Light and Dark are weak against each other.
19. Monster that battles against a monster that it's weak against loses half of its attack.
20. Land-based monsters: Warrior, beasts, insects, etc are weak against flying monsters: Winged Beasts, Dragons, etc. And Sea-based monsters: fish, sea serpents, etc.

The current rules are such a pain in the ass. When around 4:00 of the afternoon, the announcer then cued that it was his time to go on one of the duel monsters' platforms.

" Duelist 125, Duelist 1023 please come on the stage. It's your time to duel! "

Akai Konami which was whose registered name is Duelist 1023. Tokio left the seat in the audience and walk towards the stage and towards the host of the tournament.

Hearing the very familiar phrase, Tokio or Akai Konami stared at the duelist 125 which was his opponent. Thankfully, one of the features of the Red Cap avatar was that this disguise wasn't allowed to emote in any way, or else he was already having his surprise or shock now.

" Grandpa has trained you. Give it all your best Jounouchi! "

" Miho wish you luck Jounouchi-kun! "

In the audience near the stage platforms, Konami could see and hear Yugi and the others.

Joey confidently grinned at them.

He then turned his gaze towards him.

" So you are my opponent.. "

Jonouchi paused for a moment before regaining his cheerful attitude.

" Let's have a fun and exciting duel! "

Konami didn't reply to Joey. Instead, he turned his hat showing his serious and ready-to-battle attitude.

It was unexpected to have Jonouchi as his first opponent and appear in the tournament. But he just remembered that Jonouchi have indeed participated in this battle.

He was looking forward to this duel.
