Rewinding time is not possible, but "do-over's " are.

Sometimes we get another chance to do something right

the second time that we got wrong the first time.

"Are you out of your mind? I'm not your mate! Get that through your thick skull!" I stalk to the living room, fuming with anger. It's like it's my fate to come across psychopaths. Chase and now him. "Are you ok, honey? You look angry." "I'm fine." I wave it off politely. I'm pretty sure they know something must have happened, but I have zero interest in giving more time to a non-existent issue. It's not even five minutes that Chris enters the room, and his eyes find mine. I thought that in those five minutes he would have calmed down, but he looks even angrier if that's possible.

"Why won't you acknowledge our mate bond?" Gasps erupted from every single person sitting in this room, especially my parents. "Chris, honey, you and Sophia can't be mates." That's what I'm saying too. It's rare, almost impossible, for someone to have a second chance mate. I had a mate, and that bond no longer exists. I doubt I was given a second chance, and this early too! "Why does every single person disregard it? I think I and my wolf can know who our mate is!" "I was rejected!" I blurt out. "I was rejected and I accepted the rejection. That's the reason we're all this skeptical about it." There's absolute silence. Even a pin dropping to the ground can be heard. "Please, I beg you, don't give me false hope! It's already hurtful not to have a mate."

King's pov.

"Come to my office later," I whisper to Chris. One after the other invigorates my suspicions. First was what the witch said, and now Chris is claiming to be mates with my daughter. And I believe him! I'm the werewolf King, and I know every little detail about all the Alphas in the world. I know Chris is a respectable young man who has been waiting patiently for his mate. He wouldn't just up and claim somebody else as his mate, no matter the power they hold.

"You wanted to see me, King?" He questions. It's clear he's still frustrated that nobody's taking him seriously, but he remains respectful. "Yes, Chris. Take a seat." He closes the door and takes a seat as requested. "You believe you and my daughter are mates?" Huffing, he shakes his head. "I ain't answering this question. Nobody believes me, anyway!" "Just answer the darn question!" He nods. "I don't believe it, I know it. But your daughter denies the bond and me whatsoever!" I rise from my chair, motioning for him to follow me. "Where are we going?" He asks as we walk down the hallway. "There's someone who might be able to figure out what's happening."

"This is Karina." I tilt my head to the young girl laughing with a couple of pack members. "She's a witch!" He breathes out. "Indeed she is. I allowed her and her witch friend to join the pack as a reward for helping me locate Sophia's whereabouts when she was kidnapped." I don't know how I went through with it, but I did. The pack accepted them easier than expected, and now everything's running smoothly. Karina spots me and runs to us, sporting a big smile. The change in her demeanor has altered significantly. She's nothing like the girl I met a while ago. A big smile has replaced the cold expression, and enthusiasm is visible in her tone instead of sarcasm. "Alpha," She bows down, and her eyes travel to Chris. "Do you have time to talk?" She nods, concern written on her face.

"Did you remember what you told me when you saw Sophia?" Recognition passes through her eyes. "Is there any chance that someone indeed cast a spell on my daughter?" She hesitates but nods nonetheless. "What do you have in mind?" "Maybe someone cast a spell to make her believe that someone else is her mate," Chris growls, scaring Karina. "That's possible, and there's a way to find out whether that's true or not. It has to happen with her consent, though." I doubt she'll accept. Sophia is the carbon copy of her mother. She's so stubborn, and there's not much to do to make her change her mind. I'm certain in her mind Chris is a psycho, and she'll want to do nothing that involves him. "Leave that to me. I have her handled." Surely she wouldn't say no to her dad. "Ok, let's meet at the training area in the morning." "Don't mention anything about this. We need to confirm our suspicions before worrying anyone else."
