I'm strong because I've been weak.

I'm fearless because I've been afraid.

I'm wise because I've been foolish.

~Unknown

"I'm going back." I declare, leaving no room for argument. "No, Sophia. You're not going back there. It's too dangerous for you, and you know your father wouldn't want you to go back. You're staying here and we'll wait for them to come back. I'm sure there was no harm their way, and soon they will be here." I know they will put up a good fight, but what if they were outnumbered? No matter how strong you are, if you are outnumbered, then the chances of winning are slim. "My powers will come in handy. It won't take long to wipe them out. I know and you know that I'm capable of doing it." She sighs, drained from all the events taking place. It amazes me how eventful and adventurous my life is. And to think I wanted a normal life. This is not what normal looks like. When I'm happy and content, something will come my way to disturb it. Talk about luck!

"I can't let you do that. Using your powers indicates that everyone will be aware of your gifts. If now we say that you're in danger, imagine what would happen next!" My drifts back to my visit to the now-extinct pack, to the nice people we met. I'm worried about my dad and Chris, but I'm also worried about their well-being. Most of the people there were children, women, and the elderly. They're defenseless, and there's no way dad, Chris, and the others would be able to protect both themselves and the survivors. "It's a risk I'm willing to take and I know you would take it too." She knows better not to press the subject any further. I'm too way too stubborn for my liking. She knows it too. "Be careful. Make it back in one piece" "You're giving in that easily?" It's unlike my mother to go down without a fight. I came to find out about that in the short time I know her. She and I are so similar in so many ways. She's my mother after all!

Shifting into my wolf form, I take off in the direction where my father and mate are, hoping I would come across the rest of the guards. "Astra, can you mind link Chris wolf?"Come to find out I still don't know his wolf's name. Hopefully, I'll have more time to find out. "I can't reach him either. I've tried countless times." Usually, I get some kind of a feeling, but right now, I'm numb. "Keep trying and let me know." "Sure thing." Were they watching us? How did they know we would go there? It's hard to believe that it was a coincidence. It must have been a couple of months since the attack happened, and from what I've gathered they must have been camping out there since then. Why didn't they attack them then and do it now?

When I arrive at the campsite, I'm greeted with a foreign image. This land was filled with women cleaning and cooking. Children played among each other while the elderly were conversing with each other and playing cards. Now it's filled with two kinds of people. People fighting for their lives, and people are out for blood. I try to spot my father and Chris, and soon enough, I see them fighting three wolves all at once in their wolf forms. Running full speed, I attack a wolf that was close to harming my mate. Sinking my teeth into his neck, I bite him hard, trying to injure him fatally. I'm not used to hurting someone, and I'm against using violence. But when it comes to my life and my loved ones' lives, if someone is threatening it, then I ought to fight back.

"What are you doing here?" Chris's mind links me as we both continue fighting with all our might. "I'm here to fight by your side." He lunges toward me, and I step aside, knowing he was aiming for someone behind me. "You shouldn't be here. It's too dangerous." "I don't care. You were ambushed and I wouldn't stay back letting you get hurt. You would have done the same thing if you were in my shoes. Let's focus on winning and we'll talk about it later." I can tell he wants to say more, but he stops himself knowing well that any distraction would be fatal. While I'm fighting, I notice a couple of rogues edging closer to where the defenseless are huddled. Checking that no one's paying attention to me, I stomp my feet on the ground creating a small earthquake targeting the piece of land these rogues are standing on. The ground opens up below them, swallowing them both. Gasps erupt from everyone trying to comprehend how that happened. Chris and my father send a knowing look my way. Only they know about my powers. The guards that are with us are not aware of it because we were afraid it might leak.

Slowly we were able to wrap things up and fight off the last couple of rogues standing. We were lucky to win this fight, but I can't tell you about the battle. I know there will be one soon, and I don't know if we'll be lucky then. Once we're all back to our human bodies and dressed, we all gather to assess the situation at hand. "What do we do now, King?" The guards ask. "We're taking them all back immediately. There's a high chance they'll be back and enforced. We will split into groups so that we're not vulnerable. Those who can't shift will be carried on our backs. Understood?" "Yes, King." Everyone says, and we head off to inform everybody.

Long story short, there were no objections when it came to joining us in our journey back to the palace. It was common sense that they couldn't stay back there anymore. The only chance they could stay there was if they had a death wish, which they didn't. We made it back with the children carried on our backs. I wasn't allowed to carry a pup on my back, but I knew I couldn't push my luck any further. At the sight of the palace, everyone, including the elderly, gasp due to amazement. "Welcome to the palace," Mum says as she steps out of the front door, greeting them all with a warm smile.

Thank you so much for reading my story! I hope you enjoyed it! I want to apologize for being MIA these past few weeks. It's something I would like to fix now that I've got more time.

Have a good rest of your day, and I'll see you again in the next chapter. Bye!❤
