Some women fear the fire.

Some women simply become it...

"How did you escape?" I breathe out in disbelief as I stare at the intruder, the witch who initiated it all. "Oh, I left through the front door like a lady." She soon starts taking small steps toward me, and I fight the urge to step back. "You didn't think I would be caught that easily, did you? Someone undervaluing me and my powers is degrading, to say the least!" "So it was true. They conspired for this to happen." " Good job, Sherlock. I guess you're not as dumb as I previously thought." Growls erupt from the pack warriors, along with Chris and dad, at the sight of me being disrespected.

At the sight of her approaching me, Chris growls and races to my side, thrusting me behind him to shield me. "Aw, young love! Isn't this how we were at first, Chase?" She chuckles and sends a wink to Chase, who smirks back at her. "Stay behind me. When I motion, you run like you're caught on fire. You don't cast a single glance at us, you hear me?" His mind links me, but I don't bother replying. I don't want to deceive him with fake promises. There's no way I'm leaving, not until this battle is won.

I push him out of the way and march forward. "It's me you want, isn't it? Then why don't we settle this? Just us two. Why involve others in our business? Unless you're scared, that is. Then I can't not be understanding about it. We can proceed as expected." "No problem. Bring it on, bitch!" "No!" Shouts Chris as he hurries to my side. "Geez! What a sucker!" She mutters as she attacks him with electricity, sending him back, flying into a tree. I cast a worried glance at him, but my dad approaches him to confirm he's okay. He knows that it's challenging for me to see my mate be hurt and not do anything about it. Unless I know he's alive, it will be hard for me to concentrate on winning. He's fully aware of it, and that's why he wants to reassure me about Chris's well-being.

"I hope you know you did comes with a price," I state as we start circling each other. "Isn't this the perfect time, then? We're responsible for so many people's entertainment. Let's give it all for a thrilling show, shall we?" Everything's a joke for them, even people's lives. That's the reason I don't want to risk anyone else's but my life. I'm conscious of the risks. I may not be able to win and come out alive after this, but I would like to believe that this won't be the case. In the movies, all the good wins, never the bad. Isn't that what usually happens? Even if I fall after this battle, in some way or another, they will be held accountable for their wrongdoings. Nothing lasts forever, especially when someone is greedy about it.

The battle is harsh. We both take turns striking each other. I've taken quite a few hits, and I can't lie, I feel drained. I would like to think she has received a lot more blows than me. While some find this fight entertaining, my people are anxious, and that's shown on their faces. I take turns switching from fire, to water, to earth, to wind. Her powers are limited, though. All she does is use electricity. It stings like a bitch when being hit with it, but its prospects are limited. It makes me wonder how on earth she performed all those spells. It makes me think that someone else is behind it all. "Tired yet?" She shouts. "I'm good." I shrug, and she says, "Good, good."

As I'm about to strike her with fire again, a wave of fire hits me, sending me to the ground while my body is on fire. Seeing as fire is one of my powers, it didn't hurt as it would hurt someone else, but it did startle me. She wasn't the one behind this attack. It came from behind me. Another witch joined this fight. This one is more powerful. "Took you long enough!" "Stop whining and focus! If mum and dad saw you, they would have been embarrassed!" The new woman scolds, standing next to her. "Two against one? That's a cowardly move!" I chuckle, dusting myself off. "So be it. I will defeat you, anyway." "We'll see about that."

The battle is even harder than before. I'm more tired than before. I'm forcing myself to keep going. It takes a lot of restraint for my dad and Chris to see me getting hurt and not step in. Astra is trying to supply me with as much energy as possible, but she's struggling as well. "Are you giving up yet? I promise I'll make your death as quick as possible." "Keep dreaming! The only one who'll end up dead is you!" She sends me a wave of electricity. Meanwhile, her sister hits me with fire. I gasp for air as I lay on the blood-stained grass, my body on fire.

"Sophia!"
