It was still daylight when the invasion happened, by the time it calmed down the sun was going down and the house was becoming darker, she could no longer hear gunfire and shouting, but she refused to move away from the spot she was at, she could hear footsteps approaching the room and hushed voices coming along, she presses herself up against the wall as her gaze went to the door.

"He knocked her hand?" Max's voice could be heard from outside. "How bad is it?" The door shins open, nearly hitting the wall with a loud bang but stopping just before it could, his eyes scan the room before seeing her cowering underneath the table, to say she was relieved to see him instead of the other person was an understatement, she could feel her breathing slowing down and her heart rate calm. "(Y/n)." She carefully moves out from underneath the table, his eyes falling to her hand, dried blood on the shallow cut on it. "Your hand." She looks down at it before standing from the ground. "Are you okay?"

"I... I don... I don't know." (Y/n) stutters out, her eyes slowly move over him, his clothes were destroyed and covered with blood, tiny cuts were on his cheeks and forehead. "You... you're."

"I'm fine," Max says as he begins to stride towards her, he quickly notices that she wasn't stopping him or flinching away. "Are you hurt anywhere else?" He stops in front of her, and carefully took her hand in his, examining the cut, it had already started dried, but it still had to be cleaned. "Did the bastard hurt you anywhere else?" Max had learnt it was Butler that had found her when he confronted him in the hallway, he was bragging about hurting (Y/n), and Max feared the worst but was more relieved when he heard it was just a shallow cut on her hand, but Butler had made it sound much worse than what it was. "Come, let me go clean that wound."

Max leads her out the room and down the hallway to another room, when he opened the door she immediately knew that he preferred not to go to hospitals, the room contained a lot of medical equipment, which made her wonder how he was able to get everything, especially the medication, he leads her towards a cabinet and releases her hand, he opens the cabinet door and takes out what he needs.

"I'll have Sebastian check it out later, just to be sure it's okay," Max says.

"Sebastian?" (Y/n) softly asks.

"Our Doctor," Max says. "He only comes in for emergencies, he is on his way." (Y/n) nods her head, wondering if that was how he managed to get everything, but also wondering if this Sebastian person was a real doctor or just somebody that obtained a medical license illegally, she would have to ask later, first she wanted to know.

"Is he dead?" (Y/n) asks, Max looks up from cleaning her wound. "The guy that..." Max nods his head, he had killed himself when he was convinced (Y/n) had been injured more seriously.

"He won't be bothering you," Max says. "Or anyone again." (Y/n) slowly nods her head, no one deserved to die... but he was the bad guy, maybe, just maybe he deserved death. "His entire following is gone, as well as the person that allowed him in here."

"Someone allowed him in?" (Y/n) asks. "Why?"

"He was working for Butler," Max says. "The same old revenge story." She hisses when he started cleaning the wound. "Sorry."

"It's fine, I just wasn't expecting it." (Y/n) softly says, he carefully cleans the wound, not wanting to hurt her as he does, the silence between them lasted long as she watched him, his face was close to her hand, she could feel his breathing on her skin. "You were right." He looks up at her. "You haven't given me a reason to be scared of you, except for the yesterday afternoon, but... I don't know that story." Max throws away the cotton he was using.

"That was Butler's right-hand-man," Max says. "You weren't supposed to see that." (Y/n) nods her head.

"But I should." (Y/n) says. "Because if I'm going to trust you, possibly give you a chance, I need to know exactly what I'm getting into." She picks up the cotton, preparing to clean Max's cuts. "I need to know what I'm getting myself into, I have to see all the sides, the good, the bad and the plain ugly." She looks at the bottle of substance he had used, before wetting the cotton with it. "I'm not saying that I'm comfortable with what you're doing, I'll probably never be comfortable with it... but I need to know everything, to be completely comfortable with you, I need to know all the risks and what you're capable of doing." He nods his head. "No holding back, no matter how traumatising it might be."

"Will you be returning to your apartment?" Max asks as she begins cleaning the cuts on his cheeks, she stops for a moment to look not his eyes.

"Well, we're not dating." (Y/n) says. "You haven't asked me, so, I'm going back to my apartment." She begins cleaning the cuts again.

"Are you saying that you would stay if we were exclusive?" Max asks, A faint smile forms on her lips.

"No." (Y/n) says. "We need to get to know each other a lot more, become comfortable... and maybe in a year or two, if you ask me, I'll move in, if we make it to two years."
