Branches hit the window as y/n rubbed her arms over her sweater. She looked out into the evening sky; sun setting over the horizon, orange and yellow reflecting off the still lake. A gorgeous sight.

"Jeez, at night it sure gets chilly... I hope Lil doesn't get sick."

Even away from your dear friend, you still worried about your happy-go-lucky roommate.
You were always over-prepared, and she was never prepared at all. Perhaps it's the elementary instructor in you. You always doted on others, since you were used to little kids acting reckless to their health and safety.

"I should give her a ring."
You gave a big over the head stretch, recovering from your little dance break, and deciding it was time to call up Lilith. Putting your shoes back on, you left the now spotless cabin and headed towards the main ones. There's gotta be a phone somewhere right? You really hoped you wouldn't have to ask the others to borrow theirs.

Finding Axel's name plate on the side of an office, you knocked gently on the dark wood door. Pulling on the hem of your sweater, you rocked on your feet, while waiting for a response.

"Umm... Axel? It's y/n, can I come in?"

No response.
You knocked twice more, causing it to creak open.

"Hello?"
Your heartbeat in anticipation, calling out into the dark office. Cautiously walking in, you felt the walls for a light switch.

Finally finding it on the far let, the lights flickered and your dilated pupils shrunk, adjusting to the sudden brightness.

Gasping, you saw Axel laying head down on the desk.

"Oh my goodness! I'm sorry!" you exclaimed in a low whisper.
Seeing a multi colored quilt tossed on a near couch, you grabbed it, and quietly walked to the still Axel's side. You weren't really sure what happened, being the oblivious and slow bean you were.
"He must've been tired." you thought to yourself.
Delicately placing the blanket on his shoulders, you then turned the light back off and wondered the hall, looking for another room to check.

What you didn't see, was the empty cans of beer all on the floor, or that his pants were unbuckled and barely on correctly. You didn't know Axel was drinking away or had company before hand the entire time you were cleaning.

"Ouch."
You bumped into a chest as you turned the corner.
"Watch it- oh. Hey y/n... Wanna sit by the campfire? We just got it started. The sun is just about down now."
Rubbing your nose, you looked up and saw Fred. Why was he acting like nothing happened? It kind of agitated you.

"Um, no thanks. I need to call my friend. I told her I'd check in when I got here. Just looking for a phone booth or something."
"Well, not a complete lie, but I want to hear someone I care about." you silently concluded.

He pulled out a phone and held it out to you.
"Here use mine."
Reaching out, you almost grabbed it, but then Fred held it up out of your reach.
"Ah ah ah! You can use my phone if you come sit with us."

Glaring at the cocky blond, you gave up. Being short had is disadvantages.
"Fine. Hurry up please, I have to be up early to clean for the kids arrival you know."

"Don't be a sour puss y/n."
He took hold of your wrist and you reluctantly let him pull you to the giant campfire roaring  outside. Sitting on a log near Ariel and Rodney, you gave a small wave.
"H-hi again."

"Whatever." Ariel scoffed, smacking at a mosquito on her chest, perched on the pot fanatic's lap.
"Glad you two made it." Rodney smirked, staring at your breasts, seeming to be telling them that, not you.

"Despicable. Do it for the phone y/n, don't cry, don't cry."  you felt tears pricking at your eyes. Why can't he just stop harassing you?!

"Fuck you looking at... Roddie?" Fred said, using the nickname he hated.
Flipping him off, Rodney took a large swing of the beer he was drinking.
"Ugh do you ALWAYS have to drink around me?" Ariel pouted and felt up the shaggy male's chest, and petting his chin hairs.
"Honessstly red, I have to be druunk to be around yuh." he responded, words starting to slur together.

"Ridiculous!"
She chugged her own beer desperately, to ignore the toxic man's comments.

Fred laughed at what he thought was a total bro moment,  and poked at the fire with a nearby stick.
"Where's Axel?" he asked, looking back at the cabins.
"Y/n probably smashed him. I saw her leave his office. I know for a fact he wasn't sober. Sorry not sorry doll, I hit that first."
Sticking out her tongue sexually at y/n, Ariel adjusted her too short shorts and wiped her mouth, indicating something inappropriate.
"You got his dick wet already Red? Shit, you are such a slut."
Shocked at Fred's language, you knew he wasn't the sweet guy you made him out to be. He dropped all the charming filters he pretended to have. What a shame.

"I tried convincing him to let us leave early okay. Who wants to look over an old rundown place like this? It's hot, my hair is frizzing, and I hate kids."
It took a few seconds but once you finally understood, your eyes widened and you felt your face turn red. From second hand embarrassment, and anger from her comment on the children. You thought you could convince them  to help out, but it looks like camp business is all for you to do.
You looked at the tipsy woman sad, that such a pretty girl lived a shoddy life not thinking of consequences.

"Well, I think I'm going to go back to my cabin. Long day tomorrow-" you stuttered, highly uneasy. Forget the phone, you'd rather even write Lil a letter if it meant not hearing about the reason Axel wasn't responsive. You were next to him! How embarrassing...

"I don't thinnk sso."
As you were about to leave, you were yanked back down on the log.

"Eek!" you squealed, locking eyes with Rodney.

"Wee're goinng to tell scary sstoriess."

"W-why?"
You were definitely a scary cat, and the now pitch black scenery wasn't exactly comforting to you. The only lit thing was the main cabin offices behind you, and the fireplace in front of you. Also leaving your pack in your own cabin wasn't a smart idea, but not knowing you would be out this long played a part. God how you wished you brought a flashlight. Could've smacked this drunk in the face. You weren't one to ever hit anyone, but you wanted to start swinging on how uneasy these three people, you unfortunately worked with, made you. They were asked to help out by the school, but you weren't sure why. They were last people who wanted to teach the youth. This might've been a whole sick joke and you kinda prayed Jimmy Kimmel would pop out of the bushes with a microphone...

"Because we're near a woods, it's late, and we're near a campfire. Lighten up y/n."
Fred answered for Rodney, handing you a cold beer from the ice chest they brought.

"No thank you, I don't drink." you politely declined.
"Should've known. Suit yourself. More for us." he shrugged.

Drinking beer and becoming one of them? You'd pass. Plus, you were more of a wine lady. Cuddling on the couch with Lilith on movie night, sipping red wine and exchanging gossip. Well, you mostly listened. Elementary school talk wasn't really invigorating, but you did get poked fun of by it.

"Is little Timmy still single? But he's such a ladies man y/n!" Lilith giggled.
"Oh hush Lil, and no I think he's not actually, Sam cuffed him in art class, she told me while I checked out her book." you playfully said, swirling your wine glass.
"Oh my god really?!"
You both burst out laughing, enjoying each others company.

Smiling at the memory, you smoothed out your sweater, folding your hands over your crossed calves. You inhaled slowly and exhaled.
"Just one story." You glanced at Fred. "But then I get to make a phone call."

"Fair enough." he nodded, agreeing.

As the flames danced and ashes flew, the group huddled closer on the logs, listening to his tale.

"Twenty years ago, in this very camp, a woman named Pamela Voorhees worked as a cook. She had like a retarded kid right, and nobody liked him."
"Poor baby." you whispered.
"Yeah whatever." brushing you off, Ariel snorted.

"Anyways, this kid was bullied too, no shit, and when his mom was being forced to work, she couldn't watch over him. Every time she tried checking in on him, the counselors would threaten to fire her. But she totally needed the job, since she was like really broke."
Opening the beer you didn't take, Fred chugged a bit before burping.
"Okay, so then?" asked Rodney, clearly bored.

"So then dickwad," he snapped, "the bullies threw him in that very lake over there." He gestured with his thumb to the body of water.

You gasped.
"What?! Did his mom save him in time??!"

"Nah, he drowned." Fred said, crushing the can against his head; chucking it behind him.
"His mom went on a murder rampage too man. Turns out the counselors were fucking on the job, not looking after the kids as well. Pretty sick. "
"Damn!" Ariel and Rodney said in sync. She grinned, and Rodney rolled his eyes.

"Yup. It's said her son came back to life and he's living in those woods now, killing off all who trespass for his mom."

"Okay, worst story ever!" you boldly cried out, wrapping your arms around you.

"It's not just a story short stuff, it's an urban legend."
For effect, he slowly spoke. "He's probably out there right... NOW!"

"Wah!"
You fell off the log, as Rodney grabbed your waist quickly and letting go, on the last word to scare you.

"Ahaha! Nice reaction." Fred smirked.

"Stop flirting with her, and flirt with me!" Ariel whined again.

"Ugh."
Brushing yourself off, you slowly stood up, flustered yet again.

"Can I call my friend now Fred?" you asked, so done with this late night spook fest.

"Um, about that... there's no signal here. I found a phone box too, but it was all jacked up. Wires pulled out. I was gonna make a weed call." he scratched his head, ruffling his hair.

"What?! Then why would you make me-"
"Because y/n you need to chill out!" he shouted back, cutting off your complaints. Immediately regretting it, his face softened. "Ah, sorry, it's the alcohol y/n I-"

You were frozen, upset and shocked he raised his voice for no reason. You felt the tears pricking back.
"...I'm leaving."

Booking it, you ran to your cabin, wanting to be away from this sick group of adults. They were adults right? So why were they acting like teenagers?! Reaching your cabin door, ignoring your name being called, and the laughing of the pervy couple; you slammed it behind you.

Pressing your back against the door, you felt emotional as you remembered the little boy and his poor mom.

"Is this what you felt like?"

After twenty minutes of calming down and praying for the little boy, you decided it was time to head to bed.

You threw your shoes off, placed them by the door and changed into your pjs. Long, black and loose pj bottoms, and your tank top. You hanged your sweater and fanned your face.
"It's cool, but I still feel warm for some reason... Probably nothing. I'll go wash up before bed."

"Now, where I put my other shoes..."

Digging out your grey Toms from the closet; for easy slip on convenience, you took your trusty torch light, tooth brush, paste, washcloth and bar of soap to the restrooms.

Arriving, you saw that Ariel had plugged in a hair curler near the sink. There was makeup and hair products spread out over a small table, near the row of sinks.
"Wow. How does she not mix them up?" you pondered out loud.

"Because I'm not dumb." a voice said, startling you for what felt like the hundredth time today.

Ariel left big stall and joined you near the sinks, washing her hands. She was wearing her own pjs; a silky nightgown, reaching her knees, spaghetti straps, and lace around the low neck line. Pink slippers to match.

"O-hh." you awkwardly said, starting on your own simple night routine.

"You really only wash your face with soap?" she asked, looking at your stuff.
"Yeah, I can't afford fancy things. Genetics as well, I'm bless with skin that doesn't really break out."

"Lucky."
She let her half pulled hair down that was keeping it out of her face, then sprayed it with some product; unplugging the hot iron with her free hand.

"You're very attractive Ariel, why do you act like... that?"
You questioned, as you spit out your toothpaste whilst waving the hairspray out of your direction.

She sighed, acting annoyed. Putting down the can and fixing her own fringe, she caught your eye in the mirror.
"It's none of your business y/n."

You pat your face dry.
"I suppose not. But you're the only other female here. Shouldn't we stick together or something? Girl code?"

She snorted, wiping excess spray off her tan skin with her own towel.
"That doesn't apply when there's guys around."

"Is this about Rodney? I don't like him you know. Or Fred for that matter." You shuddered at the thought.

Finishing your routines, you both exit the bathroom, following your lighted path.

"Why not? They're hunks."

You both walked down the dark dirt trail, careful not to trip.

"No way, they're just the only ones here. You could do much better." you argued, defending women everywhere. "He treats you like an easy girl."

Tucking her hair behind her ear she gave a breathy laugh.
"Have we met y/n? I am. I'm literally here because I slept with a guy who ratted me out to the principle. I'm the 'slutty secretary' in everyone's minds. So might as well act like it. "
Using air quotes for emphasis, she rolled her eyes.

"You don't have to be , you know. We're here for the kids. You can change."

Reaching your cabin, you turned to Ariel, handing her your torch.

"Here. Take it back to your room. Don't want you to get hurt. I know you're mad Rodney pays attention to me, but it's just to get in my pants. You know how that is." you winked, knowing the physically appealing female could relate.

Suspicious on your kindness, something she wasn't used to from ones she harasses, she took the light. "Thanks... sorry about all that rudeness. I guess it was jealously."

"Don't mention it. I hope Rodney realizes how sweet you are."

Giving you new friend a quick hug, you waved her off, letting her go.

She hid a growing smile with her hand, as she skipped to meet up with Rodney and Fred; who said they were hanging out in the lounge. But, her happiness left her face as soon as it appeared.

"What the hell?"
Ariel watched a back of someone walk inside the girls bathroom.

Treading on the heels of the big phantom like person, she entered the bathroom to scope it out.
"Hello? Who's there? This is the girls room you know."
Pointing the light around the room, she opened each stall.
"Roddie... is that you?"

Searching slowly around the bathroom, she spotted the rustle of the shower curtain in the corner of her eye.
Gasping, she saw large boots poking out of the shower.
Heart pounding a million miles per hour, she steadily went to open it, racking her brain on this needed detail:
"Was Rodney wearing boots?"

Pulling back the curtain, she screamed.
