It was cold.

Not the rain that pelted at your skin and made your clothes cling to your body.

Rather, it was the freezing fear that gripped your heart at sight that greeted your eyes the moment you stepped foot into the evacuation center.

Civilians running for their lives, the bodies of heroes who'd clearly fought to protect them and lost, but most importantly...Genos was fighting what could only be the leader of the sea folk all by himself and by the looks of it...he was losing.

Half of his face had already been ripped off, revealing the circuits and machinery underneath and one of his arms was missing as well.

You ignored the fact that you weren't as strong as either Saitama or Genos.

You chose to forget that unlike all the members of the Hero Association, you neither had astounding weapons and gadgets or powers that will aid you in battle.

"Where are you going?! The exit is this way!"

"Miss, please don't throw your life away like this!"

Even as some of the people around you tried in vain to prevent you from going to the cyborg's aid, nothing could possibly stop you from protecting the teen.

Knowing that you could have done something to help and not doing anything was one of the most painful experiences you've felt.

All those times where you could only watch behind your two boys and help them after the fight never failed to awaken that small part tucked away inside your heart that wished to have power. If only just to be able to defend your precious people.

"You can do it, mister!"

The encouragement from the little girl who'd just passed you warmed your heart, knowing that the blond's efforts were not in vain.

If only you knew the result of her action.

"QUIET!!!"

The Deep Sea King spit out acid, the projectile heading straight for the little girl and with the speed that it was travelling at, you'd be unable to push her out of harm's way.

You didn't think anymore as the facts became clear inside your head.

"I'm sorry, Sai"

With a firm acceptance of the costs of saving another's life, you came in between the little girl and what would have spelt certain doom for her.

Golden optics widened as a scream tore itself from Genos' mouth.
