Prelude to Disaster

Something felt...off today.

You couldn't quite put your finger over it, but your gut kept nagging at you that there was something wrong despite it being an overall average day.

Why, neither Saitama nor Genos are out doing hero work and so far, there hasn't been any news of mysterious beings wreaking havoc in one city or another.

In fact, the three of you were merely sprawled on your respective seats in the living room: Saitama watching TV while lying on his side on the couch, your lap serving as his pillow as you rubbed and massaged his scalp, and Genos once again glued to his notebook writing fanfiction who knows what.

The blaring TV program and pencil scratching against paper resounded in the otherwise peaceful room, the tranquil atmosphere serving to relax its occupants. A stark contrast to the usual hustle and bustle experienced by the three, but one that was greatly appreciated.

RING!RING!RING!

Apparently, the peace wasn't meant to last after all.

"Excuse me. I'll just take this call"

Humming softly in reply, the young woman continued her ministrations as the cyborg made his way to the kitchen for some privacy.

"Do you think it's something urgent, Sai?" The feeling that's been nagging at you from the back of your head since earlier still hadn't subsided and it was starting to make you worry.

"It's just a call, (Name). There's nothing to worry about and even if there was, Genos is old and strong enough to be able to take care of himself. You shouldn't baby him too much" He replied, a small pout on his lips as he gazed up at you, "Besides, I'm here and I'm your husband so shouldn't you be fussing over me instead?"

This man...was too adorable for his own good!

Laughter fell from your lips as you wrapped your arms around his neck and pressed kisses all over his face, "Saitama, you big baby! I spoil you almost all the time! It wouldn't kill you if I worried over Genos even a little bit, won't it? God knows he needs someone to look after him after all he's been through"

No one deserved to be truly alone, especially Genos after losing everything and everyone he loved in the blink of an eye.

"I know and I worry about him too, but you have to trust him to make his own decisions, alright? If anything ever goes wrong, you know we'll be there for him in the end, don't you? So stop worrying too much and relax"

"Well...when you put it like that..."

The two adults never noticed the blond returning from the kitchen and overhearing their conversation, opting to listen in on them rather than join them or announce his presence.

Their words struck a chord within him, metallic hands clenching tightly as he was once again reminded of his new purpose for trying to acquire more strength.

"(Name)-san...Sensei...I will surely become stronger for your sake"

This was his home.

They were his precious people.

And he'd face even a God-level threat if it meant protecting them.
