His Hero

None of you saw it coming.

There was barely any warning before everything went straight to hell.

And to think you were just worrying about if you really deserved to be a hero and to be at the current rank you are when you've barely even done anything commendable to earn it.

Heck, if anyone deserved your current spot then it would be Mumen Rider who feared not his own death if it meant giving everyone even a meager chance of escape from the Deep Sea King.

Honestly, none of you should have taken Madame Shibabwa's final prediction so lightly.

If even a single one of you did then perhaps the casualties would have been lessened.

If you had a better grasp of these apparent powers you had then maybe you could have created a big enough barrier to protect all the innocent civilians that were caught in the crossfire and had most likely perished by now.

So many people...dead because of your carelessness and inadequate grasp of your own abilities.

You were useless.

You weren't meant to be a hero.

How could you even call yourself one when you couldn't even use your powers to defend anyone?

As always, there was nothing you could do except clutch Saitama and hide under his protection.

Saitama wasn't a smart man. Nor would he ever claim to be one, but if there's one thing he would admit to knowing then it would be that he knew his wife better than anyone else.

Even without outright expressing your feelings, one look at those big, beautiful (Eye Color) eyes and he knew that something was amiss. The sparkle in your eyes was gone and in its place was darkness that did not belong on someone as bright as you.

If only he could punch away whatever was troubling you, but sadly his fists could only touch physical beings.

Paying barely any heed to the ballistic missiles being launched at them from the enemy spaceship, the hero kept expertly maneuvering them before he quickly launched themselves into the ship and onto a safe spot so he could focus his attentions on his clearly distressed lover.

Resting a gloved hand on your chin, the caped baldy lifted it up gently so he could properly look upon your face, "Hey, we're going to be okay, you hear me? I won't let anything happen to you". Never again would he let anything get as close as the Deep-Sea King did in hurting you.

Your downcast eyes squeezed painfully at his own heart. You didn't deserve to ever be sad when all you ever did was bring joy to him and everyone else.

"I-It's not that...It's...me. Sai, I...I'm not meant to be a hero! I can't...I can't save anyone...I couldn't save even one person..." You could feel the hot tears of anger and shame on the verge of bursting from your eyes like a broken dam, "I don't...I think...I'm not meant to be a hero at all..."

The yellow-clad hero released your chin from his grip and instead placed it on the back of your head, drawing your faces near until your foreheads touched.

"But don't you see, (Name)? You already are a hero even before all of this. There's already one person you've saved"

You did?

Your normally adorably aloof husband smiled at your disbelieving self, chuckling as he gazed at you with such love in his eyes that you can't help but feel a little flustered.

"It's me. You saved me from myself all those years ago. If it weren't for you then I wouldn't be the hero that I am today or maybe even a hero at all. You're...you're MY hero, (Name)"
