I smile at the careers before speed walking off to find Peeta before Cato could walk over. I find him at the spear throwing station. We spend the next hour throwing spears. I'm not going to lie but I'm pretty good at this, I mean I do have surprisingly good aim.

I hit most of the practice dummies while Peeta definitely needed some work. ...

After a while we move on to hand-to-hand combat. Peeta excelled at this station, using his ability to lift weight as an advantage. I stood to the side as I watched him and the training instructor practice. I try to gulp down the nerves of my own sparring that will occur soon. They step back after Peeta wins. I congratulate him and step up onto the mat. The female instructor steps up and explains the rules. I nod and try to ignore the twisting feeling I have in my gut.

The rules were simple. "You could do anything apart from kill them. First person on the ground for longer than three seconds or is unable to continue loses.

She charges first and I side step and elbow her back. She spins and charges again. I go to dodge it, but I'm too slow and she tackles me to the ground. This lady is at least twice my weight and at least a foot taller than me. I want to push her off, but I can't. I grunt before thinking how to go about this. I lean forward and sink my teeth into her shoulder. She crawls backwards in shock. Any thought of me doing well in this fight flies out the window when she charges at me for the third time.

My body goes flying and I crash into the floor. My breath is knocked out of me and I lay there gasping. She walks over and towers above me. I want to give up and surrender in this fight, but I don't want to appear weak. She grabs my collar and lifts me up in the air. She lifts me until our eyes are the same level. My feet are dangling in the air and my hands are limp by my sides.

I know people have stopped what they are doing and are watching this fight. The fight I am losing at. I know they are waiting for her to finish me off. I know I can't beat her, but if I use my brain then I can avoid being beaten to a bloody pulp. I need to distract her, so I can do some form of damage and then escape her grasp. Then if we were in the real games I would run off.

I form a big ball of spit in my mouth, whilst waiting for the right moment. I then spit it out aiming directly at her eyes. While she is momentarily dazed I swing my knee in an upwards fashion towards her gut. She drops me as her hand flies to the spot where I kicked her I land on the ground and I feel a sharp pain shoot through my ankle. I groan and stumble backwards not taking my eyes off her. She groans and doesn't get up.

In that small fleeting moment I know that the fight is over. I fall to the ground and lay there trying to gather my breath. Neither of us moves as we lay there both in pain. Our fight was very short, but I'm glad it's over.

After a while I manage to move into a sitting position before standing up. I limp towards Peeta and we walk away to the fire building station. I use this time to relax as we both set about making fires. I make a small fire using the barest of equipment, while Peeta struggles to use a flint and steel. He eventually has a small fire going, but it's taken him longer than it should.

The bell goes for lunch and Peeta strides off forgetting about my limp. I feel an arm snake around my waist and I look up to see Marvel smirking. I smile and we walk to the canteen.

"Remember you're sitting with us today."

"Oh yeah, I forgot."

He helps me over towards the table where the careers sit. I can see Cato glaring at Marvel and if looks could kill then Marvel would be dead ten times over. Glimmer and Clove are smirking at each other. Marvel helps me sit down before taking a seat next to me.

I look around the room to see Peeta glaring at the others, while everyone else is gaping at my choice of seating.

I turn back to the others and smile before taking a bite of the sandwich in front of me.

"So Fianna, where haven't you been for training?" Clove asks.

"Well... I've been to most survival stations, but not so much the weaponry side of things. I mean I know how to throw an axe now and a spear and I am the absolute worst at hand-to-hand combat."

"What about swords, knives and archery."

"I don't know about swords... As for archery and knife throwing, well umm... I kind of know how to do that. So I'm saving it for the assessments."

They all look at me then at each other, all while nodding their heads.

"What about you guys? Where haven't you guys been?"

They start listing stations, but they explain that they won't bother too much with the survival skills, because they'll have the cornucopia.

So they're being cocky and arrogant. Let's see how it'll work in my favour.

"So Fianna, are you ready for the games?" Clove asks while smirking.

"I think so. I mean there isn't much else I can learn to do." I say trying to remain somewhat neutral.

They all smirk, "Okay, can you guys stop smirking. Honestly."

Glimmer and Clove then frown at me, while Marvel bursts into laughter. I glance at Marvel who is in hysterics before I join in. Glimmer and Clove eventually start laughing, but Cato is just smirking.

"I like you Twelve. I really do." Marvel manages to get out.

'Twelve?' Was that my nickname?

"Awww... I like you too. I like all of you guys." I say sweetly. In all honesty I didn't like Clove and Glimmer that much, I really like Marvel and Cato was a mystery to me. I just need to be in their good books, but I must admit they are fun to be around, probably because I don't have to worry about them stabbing me in the back right now.

"So Fianna..."

"How would you feel about..."

"Being in an alliance with us?"

I laugh, but inside I am freaking out. What do I say? What would Haymitch want? What do I do? I should join them, and then ditch them later in the games. There we go let's say that. I'm about to speak up, but Peeta comes bumbling over.

"Fianna, can I speak to you quickly?"

"Yeah sure..." I'm about to stand up, but all the other careers stand up too.

"What do you want boy?"

"Leave her alone, she's with us.

"Just piss off." Cato snarls.

"Sheesh guys, calm your titties. I'll be back. It's not like he's going to throw me off a cliff."

I awkwardly climb out of my chair and limp over. Peeta quickly wraps an arm around my waist and supports me back to his table.

"What?"

"I really need to talk to you about two things."

"Couldn't it have waited till later?"

"No."

"Fine, what is it?"

"What are you doing for private training tomorrow?"

I lean back in my chair and study his face. "I'm not sure. I'll probably go in there and figure it out when I'm staring at the game makers. Why? What are you doing?"

"I don't know either, I'll probably chuck some weights around."

"Okay."

"Second thing, I heard them ask about an alliance."

"And?"

"Don't do it. Fianna just don't ally with them! You could ally with anyone else."

"Like who?"

"I don't know me for crying out loud. I'm your district partner. Don't trust them."

I grumble an incoherent response.

"Are you going to ally with them or me? I mean c'mon Fianna. Use your brain for once."

"What did you just say to me? Did you just tell me to use my brain for once? FOR ONCE? WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN! I AM ABLE TO MAKE MY OWN DAMN DECISIONS, SO DON'T YOU DARE TELL ME WHAT TO DO AND WHAT NOT TO DO. SO DON'T YOU DARE TELL ME WHO TO ALLY WITH, BECAUSE I CAN TELL YOU NOW I WOULD MUCH RATHER ALLY WITH THE CAREERS THAN ALLY WITH SOMEONE LIKE YOU! YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED TO THINK THAT YOU ARE BETTER THAN THEM, BECAUSE THAT MEANS YOUR'E COCKY AND ARROGANT. AND DON'T YOU DARE INSULT ME OR THEM EITHER. I WILL TELL YOU NOW PEETA MELARK, THAT YOU ARE MAKING THINGS WORSE FOR YOURSELF IN THE ARENA YOU BUFFOON" I roar at him now standing up.

The whole room is quiet and is watching us very carefully.

"You stay away from me Peeta. Do you understand?" He doesn't answer. "I said do you understand?" He nods his head and looks down at his hands. "Good. Because we're no longer friends Peeta. So don't expect me to play nice when the games start."

I walk back over to careers and take a seat. No one says anything, but I'm okay with that because I am seething in anger.

Lunch finishes and I spend the rest of today working around the stations with the careers. I don't say much in fear I will snap at them.

At our last station Cato grabs a sword from the sword station and then passes it to Marvel. He passes one to Clove and another one to Glimmer. He holds one out to me and I eye it up carefully. Its long blade is silver and glints when the light reflects off it. I wrap my fingers around the handle. My fingers brush Cato's but I do my best to ignore it. I can feel the weight of it, and I know I will barley be able to lift it when Cato lets go.

As soon as he lets go, the sword and my hand fall down sharply.

"Bloody hell! How heavy is this thing?" I ask trying to lift it up. The others laugh, as Cato takes the sword.

"Here." He hands me a smaller sword that I am able to lift easily.

I look around to see the others already training with dummies. I look back to Cato who is staring at me intently.

"I have no idea how to use a sword."

"I'll teach you." He grabs my free hand and guides me to some dummies that aren't in use.

For the next hour Cato teaches me how to wield a sword. I was right in being uneasy about this weapon, probably because I'm terrible with it.

"I was wondering if you wanted to meet on the rooftop like last night at about 10pm?"

I glance at Cato who waiting for me reply.

No. Say no Fianna. "Sure. I would love to." I say smiling widely. He grins and we continue training until the bell rings signalling that it is time for training to end.

"Oh man, I'm so nervous for tomorrow with the whole private training and all that. I'm terrified." I say as we reach the others.

"You'll be fine Twelve. I know you can throw an axe, so you'll at least get a seven or an eight." Marvel says as he wraps an arm around my waist.

I grin up at him and we walk in the direction of the elevator. We walk in sync while Cato, Clove and Gimmer trail behind.

"I know you'll do well, I mean you and spears." He laughs at my comment.

"I've decide I will ally with you guys." I say suddenly.

Marvel stops forcing all of us to stop too. "You will?" He asks excitedly.

I grin and nod my head. All of a sudden he picks me up and spins me around. "Yes!" He shouts.

I laugh as he puts me down again. I look away to hide my face which I know is as red as a ripened tomato.

We reach the elevator and I press the button saying twelve, then I press two and one. We reach the first floor quickly and I farewell Glimmer and Marvel before wishing them luck. We reach the second floor and Clove steps out.

"I'll be right there in a minute." Clove smirks and winks before walking off. The doors close and I stare up at Cato.

"Yes?" I ask somewhat terrified.

"Do you like Marvel?"

"Yeah, he's a good friend."

"So you only see him as a friend?"

"Yeah. Why?"

"I don't want you to be with anyone if it isn't me. You have me head over heels Fianna." I blush and look away.

Fortunately Cato doesn't advance on me, in the way I know so many boys would. Instead he presses a button and walks out onto his floor.

"Good luck Fianna." He says just as the doors close.

I am left by myself with conflicted feelings.

Do I like Cato?
