(Y/n) and Quasimodo began climbing back up the tower. They reached the top and (Y/n) grabbed the railing to pull herself up but gasped when someone grabbed her arm and pulled her towards them. It was Phoebus.

"Hello there. We meet again. I'm looking for the gypsy boy. Have you seen him?"

"Uh..."

Quasimodo growled at him. "Let go of her."

Phoebus released (Y/n) and backed away as Quasimodo leapt at him.

"Whoa, whoa, easy!"

Quasimodo backed Phoebus down a staircase, grabbing a torch and swinging the flame at him.

"No soldiers! Sanctuary! Get out!" He yelled.

"Wait! All I want is to —!"

"Go!"

"I mean him no harm! Can I just talk to your sister?"

"No! Go!"

Quasimodo swing the torch again, but Phoebus blocked it with his sword, and Quasimodo grabbed him by the front of his cape.

"Tell him that I didn't mean to trap him here, but it was the only way I could save his life. And tell your sister that I wanted to help her at the Festival. Will you tell them that? Will you?" He asked.

"If you go. Now."

"I'll go. Now will you...put me down please?"

Quasimodo released Phoebus and he went down the stairs, but he paused and turned back to Quasimodo.

"Oh, and one more thing. Tell Esmeraldo, he's very lucky."

"Why?"

"To have a friend like you. And to have a girl like (Y/n)."

With that, Pheobus turned and left.

...

(Y/n) was still standing outside when Quasimodo came back. Victor, Hugo, and Laverne approached them and cheered.

"Way to go (Y/n)! I knew it wouldn't be long before you caught yourself a man!" Hugo praised.

"They grow up so fast." Victor gushed.

"Caught a man?"

"Esmeraldo? Tall, dark hair, handsome, works with a goat, remember?" Laverne reminded her.

"Boy, I do. Way to go, lover girl!"

"Lover girl? Oh no, no, no, no."

"Don't be so modest." Laverne told her.

"Look, I appreciate what you all are trying to do, but I don't think I'm his type. He was just...trying to be nice." She explained, trying not to get her hopes up.

(Y/n) sighed and looked out over Paris from the railing.

🎵(Y/n): "So many times out there, I've watched a happy pair, of lovers walking in the night."🎵

She turned and walked over to the miniature model of Paris.

🎵(Y/n): "They had a kind of glow around them. It almost looked like heaven's light."🎵

Hugo sighed and leaned against Laverne who punched him.

🎵(Y/n): "I thought I'd never know, that warm and loving glow."🎵

🎵(Y/n): "Though I've wished with all my might, I thought I was never meant for heaven's light."🎵

Laverne grabbed a block of wood and a knife and handed it to her, and she started carving.

🎵(Y/n): "But suddenly an angel has smiled at me. And kissed my cheek without a trace of spite.🎵

Laverne, Hugo, and Victor were laying on the floor and drawing. Hugo erased some of his details and blew the shavings off, shifting Victor's drawing.

She carved a figure that looked like Esmeraldo and started painting him.

🎵(Y/n): "I dare to dream that he might care for me, and as I ring these bells tonight..."🎵

Victor held up his drawing of Esmeraldo which was a stick figure. Laverne held up hers which looked way better and Hugo held up a drawing of Esmeraldo's goat.

🎵(Y/n): "...This cold, dark tower seems so bright."🎵

(Y/n) placed the figurine next to hers in the town square. She pushed them closer together and made it seem as if they were holding hands.

🎵(Y/n): "I swear it must be Heaven's light."🎵

Quasimodo rang the bells and looked at his sister. He had conflicted feelings about this. On the one hand, he was happy that she might have found someone she loves. On the other hand, now that she had someone other than him in her life, it now means she has a reason to leave.

He heard their conversation by the statue. Esmeraldo wanted to take her away to the Court of Miracles and leave him all alone. He knew it was selfish of him to hope that Esmeraldo wouldn't come back, but she was all he had, and without her, he'd be all alone.

Meanwhile, (Y/n) stared out into the star filled sky, thinking about the handsome gypsy boy who had stolen her heart.

...

Little did (Y/n) know, that Esmeraldo was thinking about her too. How he had almost gotten to kiss her soft lips.

He entered the Court of Miracles with a huge smile on his face.

"Ah! Esmeraldo! It's wonderful to see you. How did you manage to escape?" Clopin greeted him.

"I had a little help." He responded still smiling.

"What's with the grin?" Clopin asked.

"What grin?"

"The giant grin on your face? I recognize that look. That is a look of a man who is in love. So, who's the lucky girl?"

"Her name is (Y/n)."

"(Y/n), eh? Sounds pretty." Clopin commented.

"It is. And so is she." Esmeraldo sighed.

"Oh? Do tell."

"Well, she's got beautiful soft (h/l), (h/c) hair, and gorgeous (e/c) eyes, and she has the kindest, purest heart I've ever seen. She doesn't care that I'm a gypsy." Esmeraldo sighed and had a dopey lovesick smile on his face.

"This girl, she wouldn't happen to be the one you danced with at the festival would she?" Clopin asked, stroking his chin in thought.

"The very same one. How did you guess?"

"My boy, in all the years I've seen you perform, you have never once pulled a participant on stage, much less a girl." Clopin told him.

"Well, there was just something about her. She seemed special."

"Well, if she's so special, why didn't you bring her here?"

"I tried, but she didn't want to leave her brother. But I gave her the woven band in case she ever needs sanctuary." Esmeraldo explained.

"Well then hopefully you're pretty lady friend will take you up on that offer."

Esmeraldo smiled at the thought of (Y/n) bursting into the Court of Miracles declaring her love and that she wanted to be with him.

He wanted nothing more then to sweep her off her feet and take her away from that bell tower and Frollo.

He suddenly frowned when he remembered the way Frollo had put his hands on her in the Notre Dame. How he had smelled her hair, and touched her neck. He clearly made her uncomfortable, and Esmeraldo didn't like that.

He just hoped that Frollo wasn't planning on doing anything else to harm his little dove.

...

Over the city of Paris, people were turning out their lights to go to sleep until only one light remained on the window of the Palace of Justice where Frollo stood looking over to the Notre Dame

🎵Frollo: "Beata Maria, you know I am a righteous man. Of my virtue I am justly proud."🎵

🎵Chorus: "Et tibi patri."🎵

Frollo walked away from the window towards his fireplace.

🎵Frollo: "Beata Maria, you know I'm so much purer than the common, vulgar, weak, licentious crowd."🎵

🎵Chorus: "Quia peccavi nimis."🎵

🎵Frollo: "Then tell me, Maria, why I see her dancing there. Why her smoldering eyes still scorch my soul."🎵

He thought back to when he watched (Y/n) dance on the stage at the festival.

🎵Chorus: "Cogitatione."🎵

🎵Frollo: "I feel her, I see her. The sun caught in her (h/c) hair, is blazing in me out of all control."🎵

Frollo clutched his shoulders and watched as (Y/n)'s figure appeared in the fire, dancing seductively.

🎵Chorus: "Verbo et opera."🎵

🎵Frollo: "Like fire! Hellfire! This fire in my skin."🎵

Frollo took out the purple scarf that he had taken from (Y/n) and rubbed it against his face. It still smelled like her.

🎵Frollo: "This burning, desire, is turning me to sin."🎵

Frollo fell to his knees and rows of figures in red cloaks appeared on either side of him.

🎵Frollo: "It's not my fault."🎵

🎵Chorus: "Mea culpa."🎵

🎵Frollo: "I'm not to blame."🎵

He ran past them, looking around frantically.

🎵Chorus: "Mea culpa."🎵

🎵Frollo: "It is the gypsy girl, the witch who set this flame."🎵

🎵Chorus: "Mea maxima culpa."🎵

🎵Frollo: "It's not my fault, if in God's plan."🎵

🎵Chorus: "Mea Culpa."🎵

🎵Frollo: "He made the Devil so much stronger than a man!"🎵

The red cloaked figures were sucked into the fireplace.

🎵Frollo: "Protect me, Maria. Don't let this siren cast her spell. Don't let her fire sear my flesh and bone."🎵

(Y/n)'s image appeared in the fire again, beckoning him towards her.

Then, Esmeraldo's image appeared in the flame as well and wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her away from him.

Frollo's gaze turned angry.

🎵Frollo: "Destroy Esmeraldo! And let him taste the fires of hell."🎵

Smoke came out of the fireplace and formed into (Y/n).

🎵Frollo: "So that she can be mine and mine alone."🎵

Frollo reached out for her and she reached out for him as well, but she faded away as soon as he wrapped his arms around her.

A knock on the door snapped Frollo out of his thoughts, and he turned to the figure in the doorway.

"Minister Frollo, the gypsy has escaped."

"What?"

"He's nowhere in the cathedral. He's gone."

"But how? I...never mind. Get out, you idiot."

The soldier left and he turned back to the fireplace.

"I'll find him. I'll find him if I have to burn down all of Paris. He won't take her away from me!"

🎵Frollo: "Hellfire. Dark fire. Now (Y/n) it's your turn. Choose me or, your pyre. Be mine, or you will burn!"🎵

Frollo threw the scarf into the fire, and watched it burn.

🎵Frollo: "God have mercy on her."🎵

Frollo faced the wall and leaned against it, as shadows of cloaked figures appeared on it.

🎵Frollo: "God have mercy on me."🎵

He turned back and faced the fireplace with determination.

🎵Frollo: "But she will be mine or she...will...Burn!"🎵
