Part 1: Lots of staring and awkwardness

"I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want. So tell me what you want, what you really really want. I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna really really really wanna zigazig ha!"

"What the..." I woke up to Spice Girls blasting from the little music player I had brought with me. I heard a clunk and I shot up out of my bed and turned around to look through the curtains. Usari had a panicked look on his face as he was pressing all of the buttons trying to turn it off.

"Oh, umm, sorry." he stammered as he managed to turn it back off and set it back in the pocket of my bag.

I was a tad irritated by the fact that he was digging through my stuff while I was a sleep and also a little bit creeped out. But I couldn't get mad because the look on his face was priceless.

"If you want my future forget my past,"

"Excuse me?"

"If you wanna get with me better make it fast!"

"I-I..."

I couldn't help but bust out laughing! "Relax! It's just the song."

"Oh." he looked a little relieved. "I brought you this." he said suddenly, as though he had just remembered. Usari picked up a glass of water that he had set down and brought it over to me. That reminded me, I had been drinking like a mad man the night before! No hangover? Either I'm the master of drunkards or what they gave me last night wasn't the kind of alcohol that I knew of.

Usari paused and looked over to the couch. It was covered with the night clothes that had been brought to me. "Are yo-" I cut him off before he could finish. "I'm dressed! It's okay!" I replied.

Usari wasn't wearing a robe like the other day. Now he was still wearing the white pants and a very loose fitting wide necked shirt to match. His long locks were pulled up into a pony tail and he wasn't wearing any shoes. He looked a lot different but still regal. He came over to the bed and handed me the water.

"Thanks." I said, taking the water and gulping it not realized how thirsty I was.

"A-are you hungry? Do you eat when you wake up?" Usari asked. I nodded at him. It seemed like an odd question, but I guess he really didn't know much about humans. He kept looking up at me and then turning his eyes back to the wall or the floor again. I couldn't exactly tell, but I felt like he was staring at my hair. Was it a mess? I slowly started to feel self conscious. I went to run my hands threw it to slick it back, but it didn't feel tangled or really messy. I set the now empty glass down beside the bed and Usari started to open his mouth. "If you want to get...dressed, we could go have a midday meal." Midday? How long was I asleep? No wonder he had come in here to check on me.

"Alright, I'll just go freshen up and find some clothes." I said.

I stood up and went to walk to the bathroom. I washed my face and brushed my teeth before fixing my hair, kind of. When I walked back into the room Usari was sitting on the edge of the bed, staring at my hair again. Trying to pretend like I didn't notice, I walked over to the wardrobe and got out another one of the matching outfits. 'Dear god,' I thought, 'I hope there are other clothes options here!'

"Oh...um, I'll just turn around." Usari said as he stood up and walked toward the window. That's when I noticed it. Six long tail like appendages were on his back! I knew they had tentacles, but I just hadn't seen any yet. I also had imagined them differently. I guess when I heard tentacles I thought of an octopus or something. Thankfully they weren't like that! There were three on the right side of his back and three on the left starting just below his shoulder bones. They looked so natural though. I knew it would take some getting use to and a little self restraint not to stare at them, but I wasn't freaked out by them like I thought I would be.

I finished dressing while trying not to look at his back. "I'm done." I said as I tied a string around my waist. Usari turned around and he looked rather happy for a reason that I don't know. He headed toward the door and I followed behind him. Again we walked in silence. At least it wasn't as uncomfortable as it has been before. Then he stopped in front of a plain looking door. Well, plain compared to the rest of the place.

"Maskaushita! Are you in there?" Usari said much louder than I had heard him talk before.

"Coming!" answered Maska. Moments later his head was sticking out of the door. "Is there something I can do for you sir?"

" May we eat outside?"

"Of course!" Maska said in his always happy tone! "I'll have everything brought up to you two in a moment."

Maska slipped back inside the room and heard more of the native language as well as some banging coming from inside. I guessed it was the kitchen. Usari began walking again, this time to a narrow staircase at the end of the hallway. I wasn't sure if I'd ever be able to find my way around in this place without help.

I followed Usari up the stairs and it led to a single door that opened up onto the roof. Only a small section of the roof was opened to walk on, but it was beautifully decorated. There was another table, similar to the one we had eaten at last night and there were more potted plants and odd looking sculptures everywhere. It was warm, almost hot, and I could now see the reason for these thin clothes.

Usari walked over to the edge of the roof where a metal bar separated him from a deadly fall off of the roof. He looked much calmer than he did earlier in my room. Maybe he enjoyed the outdoors? I couldn't tell. Our short moment of peace was interrupted by Maska who entered with another servant carrying two plates, cups, and a pitcher. We both sat down to eat. I still didn't know what I was eating, but I didn't mind. We talked as we ate. It was small talk, but at least it wasn't the awkward silence like before.

As we finished eating he looked up at me with an almost child like look. "Is there anywhere you'd like to see or do?" I thought for a moment. "Well, what do you enjoy doing in your free time?" I asked. Usari's face turned nervous looking. 'Crap, not again!' I thought. "Or we could just look around the city! I'd like to see the city!" I said. It was a close save. Usari's expression went back to normal and he agreed.

Part 2: In the city

The vehicle stopped in front of a large statue. There were anabas wandering around everywhere and there were several chatting around the statue. It reminded me of the parks in large cities back on Earth. Usari got out and I followed. He had put on shoes before we left but he didn't bother to disguise himself in anyway. When I asked him about it he only said that most people wouldn't recognize him out of his robes. It was true that he looked more less like he belonged on a throne, however, when we got out of the car I noticed he still stood out. And then when I got out of the car...well...everyone stared. I knew that it would happen so I just tried to ignore their gazes.

We strolled around the common area for a little while. I had a few people run up to me, but most of them could only speak a little English if any so Usari would interpret. One small anaba boy came up to be with a strange looking devise. Usari said it was like a camera and the boy wanted to take a picture of me. I wasn't a fan of being in the spotlight like this, but I couldn't say no to any of them. They were all nice, well most of them, and I also wanted to leave them with a good impression.

Before long, Usari began to become tired of all the people too so he lead me away from the statue and towards some buildings that lined a street. They were all little shops and I stopped to look at each of them, fascinated. They were just stores, but the things they sold were all new to me. I also began to notice something else, there weren't many anaba's dressed in all white like we were. Most were wearing fairly thin clothing as it was, like I said earlier, hot outside. However, there were different patterns and colors and some had symbols that I didn't understand on their shirts. Some were wearing hats and I noticed that silver armbands were really popular since many of the stores had them displayed at their entrances and both anaba men and women were wearing them.

Usari noticed me looking at the clothes in the stores through their entrances and asked if I wanted to go in and look. We did and it was full of clothing like everyone outside was wearing. Except in the far corner of the store, there were robes and matching sets of white pants and shirts like we had on. They were a little...I don't know...cheaper looking, I guess. I realized we were wearing what was considered formal attire. Which is probably another reason we had been getting so much attention. This was clearly not a place where the rich just walked around or where everyone dressed to impress.

After that, Usari and I walked for a little while longer before he stopped in front of a stand where an older looking woman was selling something on a stick. He went up to the woman and handed her some money and in return she gave him two of what ever she was serving. He brought one back to me and I bit into it carefully. Now, I'm not a religious man, but I think I said a small prayer before I swallowed it. Thinking, 'Please, don't let this kill me!'

Well, it wasn't bad. It wasn't really good either. I'm not sure what it was. But Usari seemed to really like it and ate all of his before I had even taken three bites. I thanked him for buying it for me but told him I was too full to eat anymore. Which was a bit of a lie. It didn't faze him though, and he ended up eating the rest of mine.

We walked some, occasionally stopping to go into a store that I found interesting or if they had something Usari wanted to show me. Eventually, I  became tired from walking in the heat, although Usari didn't seem to mind it as much. When he noticed that I was sweating and walking, slower he pulled out a small device and called someone to come and pick us up.

The  car ride back was a bit longer, since we had walked so far and there were a lot more vehicles on the road. We sat in silence for the most part, but it was a nice silence, and not awkward like before. When we finally got back we headed to our rooms. I planed to go take a bath and sit down for a little while. Usari said that I could come eat with Fawyet and him later if I wanted to. Wetam had an event to go to with Rezala and his sister, Irasu, would most likely not come out again tonight. I said I would like to and then went into my room, only pausing for a moment, before going into the bathroom for a much deserved bath.
