Chapter 22- Ella's POV

Apparently Nathan does not stay angry for long with people - or with me, that is, since I now knew that he liked me. As soon as I got to my locker on Monday morning, he came by my side and mumbled a hello before he started rummaging through his locker. He asked me how my weekend was, and I smiled, remembering.

"It was fine," I replied, not giving him any details. I knew that I had to be careful from now on. The primary reason why Nathan had wanted me with Edward was so he could get him fired, and I wouldn't bear that.

"Cool," Nathan answered, shifting his gaze over to me. I looked away uncomfortably.

The weekend he had asked about had been just about the best one in my life. After Edward had asked me to be his girlfriend, we had just hung out, talking and getting to know each other better. Later on, he had brought over some sheets of paper and we sketched each other. It must sound boring, I know, but it was just perfect. I saw him again on Sunday at his place once again. He'd invited me for dinner there on Friday.

"Can I ask you something Ella?" Nathan's voice distracted me thoughts. I looked up at him. He had now closed the locker and was leaning against it, looking at me. I too closed my locker and nodded at him, wondering what he wanted.

"Do you really like him?" he asked. I flinched and did not answer. He hadn't specified but I knew that he was referring to Edward. I tried not to let my thoughts show on my face so I did my best to look surprised at what he was saying.

"Who?" I asked.

Nathan rolled his eyes. "Like it isn't obvious whom I'm talking about. Edward, you idiot."

Nice, I play dumb and get called an idiot. This is one if the reasons why I dislike so many people.

"Edward? Do you mean Mr James?" I asked, pretending to look confused.

"Whatever. He's Edward to me. He asked me to call him that a long time ago." Nathan shrugged, making me feel more curious about what happened between the two of them.

"Anyway, you know what I mean. Do you like him? Because if you do, then why were you with Mr-". He stopped in mid-sentence, looking behind me. "Ah shit they're here. Why do they always have to interrupt and ruin everything?"

I turned around to see what he was looking about, and my heart skipped a beat right there. Edward was walking towards our way with John, and was holding a couple of folders in his hand. I had forgotten how good looking he was.

Edward, not John.

He caught my eye and smiled that dazzling smile that just makes you go weak in the knees. And then I remembered that he's my boyfriend, and how lucky I am for that. Even though I knew he'd had a rough past... I still felt incredibly lucky and happy.

They stopped next to us. John nodded at me but didn't say anything, and Edward flashed a smile at Nathan, who in turn glared at him. Edward was standing next to me, and I felt him subtly grab my hand and squeeze it affectionately while trying to make himself busy by not looking at me but at Nathan. With my heart beating six times faster than it's supposed to, I glanced up at John, whom I saw that had noticed the small exchange between Edward and I, and was now looking at our hands, which were still holding each other, partially hidden behind Edward's figure. John met my eye and I looked away, feeling a familiar heat making its way to my face. It had felt awkward ever since that time when I was with him.

And damn, I'm standing among the three guys who like me, with Nathan being the one who had taken the photos. It's all so weird, although I'm not sure about whether John likes me or not. He never really made it clear to me.

Edward smirked at Nathan. "What's wrong Nate? You've been frowning ever since last Friday."

Ah, so he had noticed Nathan giving me the evil eye on Friday during the lesson.

"I think it's some kind of allergy that occurs every time I see you," Nathan replied.

Edward shrugged, a gorgeous smile still playing on his lips. "Could be," he said. "Why don't I get the allergies too then?"

Is it just me, or is he not afraid of him anymore?

Nathan glared at him for the second time. "Don't you start getting all funny with me, just because you found out that I'm not the one sending the pictures. Don't forget that I still could get you in trouble by telling the principal what happened last year."

Okay, what really happened? I'm dying to know now... I will have to force the truth out of one of them.

I felt Edward stiffen beside me, as he looked at Nathan. "No, I don't think so," he said.

"Don't be too sure," Nathan bit back. He darted his eyes towards John. "Any more photos, Mr Abbott?" he asked.

I cringed inwardly and gripped Edward's hand tighter. Shock barely registered on John's face as he shook his head. "Nope," he said.

Nathan grinned. "Good, because you know she's under age, right?" He gave me a quick glance which I tried to ignore.

It was my turn to flinch now. Did Edward know these two were talking about me? I hope not, but I don't think so. He wouldn't be holding my hand if he knew.

"Mind your own business, Nathan," John said, looking pissed.

Nathan raised an eyebrow. "Careful, I might send the original photo to the principal."

John shot him a glassy look and turned, leaving without saying anything. He was probably scared, and I didn't blame him for that. I was, too.

Why had I been so stupid? Why did I have to go and kiss him when I didn't even like him? I don't know, I guess I'd been caught up in the moment and well, he was a great kisser.

Edward let go of my hand and looked at me, his deep blue eyes boring right into me. "I'll see you guys later," he said, glancing at Nathan. He hurried away after John.

I glanced at Nathan, whose  I-know-all-about-you-and-John look was creepy. He turned away with a snigger.

John's POV

I felt someone's hand on my shoulder as I turned the corner to go to my classroom. Sighing, I turned around to see who was here to annoy me now. Like talking to Nathan on Monday morning hadn't been enough for a whole week.

I felt relieved when I saw Edward standing behind me, looking worried. I shrugged his hand off and walked on, knowing that he was going to follow me.

"You alright?" he asked.

"Yeah I'm okay," I muttered, stopping in front of my classroom door. Edward stopped next to me.

"Are you scared?" he asked.

I nodded. "A bit. Dunno what Nathan might do with that photo."  I unlocked the door and entered inside the room, turning on the light. Seven- thirty in the morning was too early for another conversation.

"Hey, at least you know who it is. I have to go around everyday, having to be careful all the time not to do anything wrong, just because a crazy psycho might take a photo and show it to the wrong person."

Crazy psycho? Oh right, Edward's problem, undoubtedly worse than mine. Poor guy, I felt sorry for him. It's not like he deserved it.

My photo was nothing next to the problems Edward had. The only problem with my photo was that I was with Ella, an underage student, and Edward's girlfriend.

Yep, I'd totally noticed that he had been holding her hand this morning, which only meant that they were now a couple. I didn't really like the fact that they were seeing each other... because of Ella, but I couldn't help but feel worried as well. If I had noticed the small exchange between the two of them, had the "crazy psycho", as Edward had described him or her, seen it as well? I hope not.

"What are you thinking?" Edward asked, sitting on the front table in my classroom.

I set my briefcase on the table and shook my head. "Nothing," I said.

I saw Edward smirk before he opened his mouth to voice his thoughts once again. "So the girl... she's under age eh? And that's why you were so worried about it?"

I mentally groaned. "You have no idea," I murmured.

"Hey?" Confusion spread across Edward's face as he tried to understand what I had said.

"Nothing," I replied. "So, you and Ella..." I trailed off, waiting for him to explain.

He narrowed his eyes. "Hmm. What are you talking about?"

"You holding her hand this morning. You guys are together now? And you and Beth are over?"

Edward pursed his lips. "Ah, so you saw that. I tried to look subtle but I guess it didn't work then, damn." He paused and seemed to be thoughtful. "Yes, Ella and I are together. Beth and I are over."

Not really news to me, but I guess it's nice when your friend tells you the truth. "That's awesome. I'm glad you're happy." I smiled at him. "How did Beth take the news?"

"She doesn't know yet."

"What?" I looked up. Edward looked at me sheepishly.

"I haven't seen her in ages," he said with a shrug.

"Whatever.. so how did you and Ella start seeing each other?" I asked.

"It was Wednesday..." Edward said with a sigh.

"Go on," I urged.

" Why? It's girls who usually are interested in this shit," Edward said, raising an eyebrow.

"Just shut up and tell me," I said, rolling my eyes.

Edward puffed out a deep breath and started telling me what had happened, starting from Wednesday to the present day. None of it surprised me, really, I knew it was going to happen one day or another. I just wished I could have been the one with Ella and not him.

"And no notes or photos so far?" I asked him, because that was the most important thing.

Edward grinned. "Not one," he answered.

"Oh thank God. That's the most important thing. Maybe the guy has just given up now," I said, relieved.

"Guy? Why do you think it's a guy?" Edward asked, his brows furrowing.

I shook my head. "Don't know, man. It has always seemed like a guy to me. What d'you reckon?"

"I honestly have no idea. I'm glad I've got you and Ella to go through this though. Maybe you're right... he's just given up."

"I hope so," I said. I started opening my briefcase slowly. Edward hopped off the desk and walked over to me.

"We talked about my love life, what about yours? You still seeing that mysterious girl from the photo?" he said.

I took a deep breath, taking in what he'd just asked. What could I say that would not be a lie?

"Nah... it didn't work out. It was over before it even started. I heard she's seeing someone else already." I met his eyes. Hey, I wasn't lying. Everything I'd told him was the truth.

Okay.. not everything.

"That sucks man. I'm sorry." He put a hand on my shoulder.

"It does. And it's a pity, because I really did like her."

"I'm sure you'll find someone better than her. Who was she, anyway?"

I smirked and started rummaging through my briefcase, taking out files so that I could start preparing for my lesson at 8am. School started too early...

"Wouldn't you want to know," I said to Edward, referring to Ella. No way was I going to tell him.

"Yeah, I do," he said, now leaning against my desk. I could tell that he was waiting for my reply, but he didn't say anything else.

I set up my desk and left him without a reply, turning around to check that there was a black marker on the holder next to the whiteboard. There was, so I checked that it worked and turned back around.

"Come on, John."

I grinned at Edward and shook my head. "I'm not gonna tell you. I want to forget about her, so it's easier if I don't talk to you about it." I proceeded to opening my black folder to take out the sheet for today's lesson, but found something else. The first sheet that there was was an A4 one with a printed photo on it. I lifted it up slowly to inspect it. I wasn't in the picture, but Edward was. With Beth.

"Okay, I guess you're right," Edward started saying. I lifted my hand up to stop him, and he did stop, and glanced at me curiously. I handed him the sheet.

His facial expression changed as he examined the photo. Him and Beth were in his apartment, her sitting on his lap while he kissed her. She was wearing a dress, while he was shirtless and was wearing a pair or dark grey jeans. There was nothing really strange about the photo, just a couple together.

Except that Beth and Edward were not together anymore.

Edward found his voice and spoke up. "Where did you get this?" he asked.

"I found it right here in my file," I said, pointing to it.

Edward let go of the paper and lifted his hands to his face, worried. "This was around July... we'd just gotten together after what happened with Lauren." Nathan's mum. "We had been seeing each other for a month or so." He shook his head incredulously and added in a muffled tone, "What does this person want from me?"

I flipped the paper over and, just as I'd guessed, there was a short message written there, in block letters.

Ooh, look at Edward being a bad boy. What would Mr Barnes and Ella say to this?

It wasn't signed, then again these notes never were. I tapped on Edward's shoulder, and pointed to the note. He scanned it briefly before inhaling sharply.

"So why was it in your file then, not Ella or the headmaster?" he said, more to himself than to me.

"I don't know," I said.

"This person wants me to break up with Ella. Well, I'm not going to. I love her," Edward said.

Love?

"Love her?" I asked out loud.

He met my eyes. "Yes. Yeah, I do."

Neither of us spoke for a moment, until our phones ringing simultaneously jolted the two of us. They signalled a new text message. We glanced at each other in confusion, and Edward's eyes were fearful. We both reached for our phones.

I heaved a sigh of relief as I read whom the message was from. School administration.

"Meeting today at 4pm in school hall to discuss next week's live- in weekend for students and teachers. All teachers are obliged to attend."

Well this should be interesting... with Ella being with Edward and a stalker following them. Not to mention a crazy ex girlfriend.

I swear, Edward's life is a rollercoaster ride.

Sorry for the late update- shitty part, I know, sorry, but I'm just so busy. It will get better though.
