Chapter 1- Ella's POV

"Hey, this is actually good," I said to Nathan, whilst pointing to the baguette that I had just bought from the school canteen. He looked at it, and then at me, and smirked. Attractive, I have to say. I'm so lucky to have met him.

"I told you some of the stuff is good here," he replied.

"Yeah but food from school usually sucks," I said.

"This school is pretty special, though," he told me with a grin, leaning closer. Flirt.

Today was my first day at college, and right now I was during break time. Unfortunately, none of my friends from my other school had applied for the college I had gotten into, so I was left stranded on my own. Luckily for me though, while I was putting books into my new locker, I bumped into Nathan, who had the locker next to mine. He seemed to take an immediate liking to me, and he introduced himself.

I found talking to him quite flattering actually, because he was a good looking guy, with spiky blond hair and dark green eyes, and he was really popular at school. He was repeating the first year in college, and while talking to each other, we found out that we happen to have art together, which was the lesson right after break today. Since I had no clue to where the art room was, Nathan had invited me to join him and his friends for lunch, and then we could go to the lesson together. I accepted, feeling thankful that I had already become friends with someone. Right now we were seated in the canteen, with a group of around six people, made up from two other guys and four girls, apart from the two of us.

"So what do you like doing, Ella?" Nathan asked with the same smirk. I looked at him questioningly, and he added, "On weekends."

"Oh... I go out with my friends," I replied, still munching on the baguette.  I wanted to eat, not talk. Although Nathan was attractive, he wasn't really to my liking. I preferred older guys.

"You should go out with us sometime," Daniel, one of Nathan's friends, told me. He raised an eyebrow. "It'll be fun."

"Um, sure," I said, smiling at him. He smiled back, and held on to my gaze until I started feeling uncomfortable and looked away. What is it with Nathan and his friends? I turned to him. "So, who is our art teacher?" I asked, changing the subject.

Nathan chuckled. "We have three art teachers, not one. And they're all annoying. Each one worse than the other."

"Really?" I asked, disappointed. It's never good to have bad teachers teaching your favourite subject.

"Yup," he said, popping the 'p'. He took a sip from his drink, and put the bottle back on the table. "There's this one in particular who's really bad, he thinks he's a model or something. And he flirts with all the girls. He dislikes me. And the feeling's mutual."

I laughed. Everyone always talked about teachers who think they're so great, and are flirts, but I had never had one like that teaching me. This should be interesting. "Seriously?" I asked.

I noticed, however, that Nathan wasn't really paying attention to me anymore, but he was glaring at the canteen door. I turned to look at what he was looking at, and saw the most good looking guy entering. He had dark brown hair, which looked like it needed a haircut, and piercing dark blue eyes, and his face was perfect. He was also tall... which made him look like a model.

Perfect.

As he walked towards the counter, I noticed that he had on a black shirt which had three of its buttons undone, and a low cut dark blue jeans, with a pair of slick dark shoes. His eyes met mine as he walked past us, and he stopped walking for a second, looking at me. Then he bit his lip, and kept on walking. He stopped next to the coffee machine and put in some coins, and as he was waiting for his drink, he turned back to look at me, and as he did, he caught me staring at him. Oops. I felt my face getting hot as electricity jolted through me. He was perfect. Just the kind of guy I would be interested in. He seemed to be older than we were, in his twenties or something. Did we have students of that age at school with us? Whatever, he was perfect. And I needed to know whom he was.

I lowered my gaze so that I wouldn't make awkward eye contact with him for the third time in one minute. I waited until the guy had picked up his drink, feeling his eyes burning into me the whole time, even though I wasn't looking. I turned to Nathan as soon as he left the canteen. "Hey, who was he?" I asked. I presumed that he knew, since I had noticed him staring and glaring at him. I got the feeling that the two of them weren't really good friends, but I didn't really care. I had to know who he was.

"That's him."

"What?" His words confused me.

"Mr James, the annoying teacher I was talking about."

Teacher?

I gaped at him. "That's a teacher?" I can't believe this. That guy, who was the meaning of perfection, was actually a teacher? What, so teachers actually look better than students? And I can't really like a teacher, either. I'd just have to forget about him, even though, if I understood correctly, he was going to teach us for a whole year.

"Yep. Not like you could tell actually, with the way his jeans are slung, or the way he talks to students. He acts like a student. And he's so annoying." Nathan's voice showed pure hatred. There and then I wondered what his problem with him was.

Allison, a blonde girl who was in the group with us, and who seemed to glance into the mirror all the time, started laughing and said to Nathan, "You only say that cause you're jealous of his good looks, Nate."

"I'm not jealous of him! He's actually really not good looking. He's horrendous," Nathan replied, glaring at her. "I just hate him cause he makes my life hell. He failed me from my exams last year. Oh, I wish I could just get him fired or something." Nice. It looked like the people I was hanging out with were not as nice as I thought they would be.

Nathan's eyes lit up suddenly. I looked at him in interest, because he seemed to have had a brainwave, and waited for what he was going to say next. "Hey," he said, looking at me. "It was you he was staring at."

I raised an eyebrow, ignoring the fluttering feeling. "Yeah, so?"

"So... I know that look. He likes you."

Daniel chuckled. "How would you know that look? Are you some kind of expert on the way your teacher looks at women?"

Nathan's facial expression changed and he seemed to have remembered something, which he immediately masked. "Yes, because he's a flirt. I told you he flirts with all the girls."

"Maybe that's just the way he is," Allison answered.

I chuckled. "Why would he like me, anyway? He doesn't even know me. He just saw me for the first time now."

"I told you he's a flirt! Now, if you could make him fall in love with you or something, we could get him fired! And we'd get a decent art teacher!" Nathan raised his eyebrows, looking at the rest of the group. Allison lurched forward.

"And, why would he be fired, exactly?" she asked.

Nathan grinned. "If he falls for Ella, he wouldn't be able to keep his hands off her, because that's just the way he is. If we get a photo of them kissing and we give it to the principal, he'll be so busted!"

I stared at him, open-mouthed. "Nate! What the heck, this is me you're talking about! I don't want to!"

He just laughed, with a mean look on his face, as he turned to look at me. "I dare you, Ella, I dare you to sleep with the teacher, and take photos of it."

"What the hell, man," Daniel jumped in. "It's stupid. Don't."

"I'm not doing it, Nathan," I said, my words sounding final.

He just grinned. "Out of the group, who agrees that she does it?" Everyone but Daniel, Allison and me raised their hand. "See?" he said with a snigger. "It's a dare."

"I was wondering if I could do the dare instead of her, actually," Allison piped in.

"No. I want Ella to do it. And if you don't," he said, leaning in towards me once again, "I'll make college hell for you. You'll regret you ever met me, and I'll be sure to get you in trouble with the principal. Understand?" I didn't reply, so he continued. "You have until Christmas break to do it. Now, let's go, or we're gonna be late for Mr James's lesson." He smirked as he got up from his chair. All the others, except for Daniel and Allison, looked pleased as well.

I stood up, horrified. What had I gotten myself into on the first day of school?

Dedicated to fragen for helping me out. Thank you!
