"I told you that those motherfuckers were not to be trusted," I shout to Ryan as he sits on the couch looking at me with his mouth ajar after me telling him everything I heard the night before at the math department's event.

I couldn't believe Joseph and Jonah, if you could even call him that, actually pulled the wool over our eyes this entire time. Well actually, I was always suspicious, I just didn't have proof.

I swore up and down for weeks that Joseph had something to do with Ryan and Justine getting shot. I was right. I knew that Maddow was weird as fuck and a glorified pedophile, trying to make a move on my girl this entire time. Something that I couldn't believe Karma could be so blind to.

The fact that Joseph sent him to my school to try and kill me wasn't that surprising. I was more surprised at the little revelation that he made last night. I know he was telling the truth because he had no reason to lie to someone who is practically a stranger to him in comparison to me.

My father slept with my Godmother. A woman other than my mother and was careless enough to have a child with her. My brother.

I had a brother.

An actual little brother.

I had been around him all this time but I had never truly known who he was to me.

When I met him he was just some kid who I thought was hilarious. I thought he was mischievous and a little rough around the edges but I gravitated towards him because he reminded me of myself. If only either of us knew just how much alike we were.

We have half of the same blood running through our veins. I never would have guessed.

Even though he wasn't the best father, he was the only consistent male figure I've had my whole life. When Joseph came along as my Godfather I was excited because it felt like I had two dads. When he left and started ignoring my dad, I didn't understand and now everything makes sense.

He was betrayed.

My dad committed the ultimate betrayal.

I spent my entire life being angry at Joseph, which I still am for obvious reasons, but I was angry that he just up and left. I thought he'd forgotten about me. Meanwhile, he was raising my little brother as his biological son.

I never had a brother, or so I thought, the only kind of brotherhood I've ever had is my friendship with Ryan and Cyrus. I established a long time ago that blood did not establish everyone as family. It wasn't just Cyrus and Ryan that taught me that. It was also the relationship between my father and Joseph.

I never would've guessed my father would have been the one to step out on my mother and sleep with another woman. My Godmother of all people.

Shit, I feel betrayed too. I missed five years of my little brother's life and had I never met Karma, and she hadn't tricked me into going to the daycare I probably wouldn't have known.

"So he's the reason my baby got wounded? She'll never be the same after what he did." Ryan says as his jaw begins to clench

I raise an eyebrow in confusion not knowing what he meant, "Paula didn't get hurt that night remember?"

He sighs loudly, "Her name is Paola. You know this. And I'm not talking about her, I'm talking about my car!" he groans laying his back against the couch, "Stacy was damaged beyond repair that night and I haven't been the same since."

"Oh yeah. Because you and your girlfriend's lives almost ending that night is not as important as a car that you've already replaced."

He widens his eyes and says, "Shh. Her spirit still lives on and she'll hear you. I did not replace her it was a substitution."

I roll my eyes, "Ryan, stay on-topic. Your car and your girlfriend's name is none of my concern right now. Joseph is most definitely coming for Karma now. As much as I want to wring his fucking neck and go over to wherever the fuck he's staying and blow him and his men to smithereens, we have to act fast and the plan in place has to be concrete. We--"

I'm cut off when Cyrus comes into the living area of our home, slamming the front door behind him as he sits on the couch farthest from Ryan and I on the other side of the living room, a scowl on his face as he leans his head back, eyes facing the ceiling and cursing to himself under his breath.

Ryan looks at me with a raised eyebrow and I mimic this look back to him as I call Cyrus' name

When he responds he leans his head down to make eye contact with the both of us. He lets out a sigh and his phone begins to ring.

Angrily, he fishes the phone out of his pocket and looks at the caller ID before he noticeably declines the call and shuts off the ringer of his phone.

I chuckle in realization, "That's your girl isn't it?"

He groans in response and Ryan looks at me confused, "What happened?"

"Justine played him."

-flashback/ Third Person-

After Cyrus finished getting a breath of fresh air and running to another store to get the orange Gatorade that Justine requested, Cyrus goes back into the cafeteria to finally grant Justine what she had asked for even though he knew she was being a bit selfish having him going back and forth like that and using his guilt against him.

Yet somehow she still wasn't satisfied

Because now she was hungry and she hated the food that was at the event.

So she did what she knew best. She batted her eyelashes and grinned cunningly at him and said, "Baby." with a wide smile that made Cyrus do a double-take as he glanced at her from his phone not expecting her to greet him like that. But he didn't question it and went along with it and said, "Yeah?"

"I don't like the food here. And you know I'm pretty sure some of it is homemade and we don't know what ingredients people put in here. Do you think you could maybe go out again and get me my usual from McDonald's?"

Cyrus closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose because even though he went to the gas station, he only went to get Gatorade so he knew he didn't have that much gas to take another trip and the closest McDonalds was about three miles from their school.

He was about to object, "J, I don't know if I can make another trip to--" he cut himself off when Justine pretended to glance down sadly and she sighed pursing her lips

"It's okay I get it. You're probably really tired and you've been so sweet this whole night going store to store just to get me this one drink." she reaches over to grasp his hand, "I love how much you care about me."

Justine knew that underneath Cyrus' "bad boy" exterior that he was a softie just like his friends so she wasn't surprised that he gave in so quickly,

After letting out a small sigh, "You said the usual right?" he asks and she grins widely motioning for him to bend down to her level as she's still sitting in her wheelchair. When he bends down, Justine grabs him by both sides of his face inviting him for a kiss as she pecks him on the lips.

Justine hadn't been aware of how much that small gesture only made Cyrus happier to complete his newest mission in getting her food.

He stands back up to his regular height not before kissing her on the forehead, and he walks away towards the front doors of the cafeteria as Justine watches him.

And boy was she glad that she had been paying attention because if not she wouldn't have seen, Victoria Williams, an annoyingly bubbly brunette cheerleader that Justine is not very fond of, walking very close to Cyrus calling his name before he can even head out the door.

Cyrus stops in his tracks and turns around to look at Victoria, a small grin on his face as she approaches him.

Justine knew she had signed up to be a tutor for extra credit so she wasn't sure why Victoria wasn't focused on, ya know, finding someone to tutor.

Justine sat in her chair for a good five minutes, staring at the two of them and she was horrified to see Cyrus smiling at her.

Cyrus doesn't smile at anybody.

She wasn't sure if he was trying to be polite but she didn't care because she was more cornered as to why Victoria's hand was caressing Cyrus's arm as she begins to rub his arm generously, obviously in an attempt to flirt.

'Is he not gonna stop her?' Justine asked herself.

Her question was answered when he made no effort to stop what she was doing. To Justine, it seemed like he was encouraging it.

Victoria tucked her short brown hair behind her ear and giggled at whatever Cyrus was saying.

'She's def flirting because Cyrus isn't even all that funny.' she said to herself

Justine cracks her knuckles in irritation and rolls her eyes leaning back into her chair, 'Fuck her. If he's not gonna stop her then I will.'

Huffing loudly, Justine stands up from her chair and casually strolls over to Cyrus and Victoria, grasping Cyrus' arm in an attempt to rip it out of Cyrus' grip.

"Hi, Victoria." Justine grins devilishly at Victoria as Victoria raises her eyebrows in surprise

Cyrus coughs awkwardly into his other hand, as the other one was begin grasped by Justine, as he looks at her and does another double-take, looking at Justine. Justine is still giving Victoria a death glare as Victoria greets Justine with a look of confusion on her face as she stares her up and down.

Cyrus couldn't believe his eyes, "Justine. What the fuck are you doing out of your chair?" he almost barks at her

The tone of his voice actually scared Justine and she was about to charge back at him in true Justine fashion until she saw how angry he truly looked. Steam was practically coming out of his ears and then it hit her, she looks down at herself to see actually stood up out of her chair.

Cyrus's outburst was louder than intended because it caught the attention of some of the other students and even some staff who were going to scold Cyrus about his language until they noticed that Justine was far away from her chair.

Everyone was now looking at Justine both disbelief and disgust that she had been pretending to be disabled.

Cyrus's face twists in anger as she pulls his arm out of her grasp and he says, 'Well?'

Justine licks her lips and does the first thing that comes to mind in this situation, She gasps loudly and places both hands on the sides of her face with her jaw dropped, "Oh my Gosh!" she says loudly for everyone to hear, "It's--It's a miracle! Oh my Gosh."

Everyone continues to look at her not buying anything she's saying but she continues, "You know what?" she says loudly placing her hand on her hip and waving one of her fingers towards her audience, "When Jesus says yes. Nobody can really say no."

That last part only makes Cyrus more upset. Karma and Paola are standing on the other side of the room watching this happen as they drop their heads onto a table, not bearing to watch any more of this.

Jesse had been recording everything on his phone from the moment Cyrus made his outburst as he stands next to where Karma is sitting knowing he's going to send this to her later. Trying hard to stifle his laughter so it doesn't show up on video.

Justine only continues, not failing to miss the anger on Cyrus' face, "And do y'all know why?" she asks again, "Because God is good all the freaking time, y'all. And all the time God is what?" she says placing a hand behind her ear waiting for the audience to respond, but they all looked at her in disbelief still. Cyrus shook his head looking her up and down feeling like an idiot for allowing himself to be played by her.

Not wanting to hear any more of this, he walks out of the door finally. Deciding to go home.

Wanting to run after him but knowing he'd only give her the cold shoulder she ran out of the same doors he went out of in the direction of the girl's bathroom, Karma and Paola following after her after excusing themselves from the kids they were tutoring.

-End of Flashback-

-------------------------------

"It's the fact that you recorded that whole thing and didn't even care to check up on your brother?" Cyrus says in disbelief after I finished showing Ryan the video

"I didn't check up on you because I knew you needed space, Cy. You're gonna go back to her sooner rather than later so just get over yourself and stop ignoring her."

"Are you joking? What she did was foul. Please, the next time yall catch me simping for someone like that, shoot me and put me out of my misery."

"So what I'm hearing is...You're not gonna call me simp anymore?" Ryan says with a blank look on his face

Not even looking back at him Cyrus pinches the bridge of his nose and rubs his eyes from tiredness, "The both of y'all can go to hell."

"I have a feeling we're all on the guestlist. But Cyrus we have bigger issues." I wave my hand dismissively and start going into detail about everything I heard last night in regards to Maddow, Joseph, Karma, and Gio.

Cyrus runs his hands along his face in shock, "This whole thing is wild. Maddow was supposed to kill you and the only reason you're still alive is that your girlfriend is pretty."

"Essentially, yes." I say, "Within the next week or so, we have to get to him before either Jonah or Joseph gets to Karma."

"We have to get to who?" Ryan asks

"Jonah wouldn't even be there if not for Joseph so we have to get to him first."

"You killed Jonah's dad. I'd be mad at you too, you said yourself he'd rather kill you than Karma. So what are you gonna do after we take out Joseph." Cyrus says

"I didn't forget about him. Leave him to me. I know what to do."

Cyrus nods, "You're gonna tell Karma her life is in danger right?" he asks

"Fuck no." I shake my head, licking my lips, I have to do this without her suspecting anything is wrong. She's already scared that our relationship won't last if she knows that her life is in danger simply for being around me, she might never speak to me again.

She's it for me.

There's no one better for me than her and I'll be damned if I came this far with her just to let some 24-year-old cry baby and my fucking Godfather ruin this for me.

When he's gone, everything will be better.

Cyrus, Ryan, and I can finally have him off our backs. More importantly, Justine, Paola, and Karma will be safe.

Gio will be safe.

The gears in my head turn as the perfect plan begins to form.

Absolutely nothing is going to come between Karma and I. People will think twice before threatening her life again as a way to get to me.

Call me toxic all you want but I'll kill any motherfucker that tries.
