I swear I can never catch a fucking break whenever I'm in this school. Shit always goes left.

The one time I want to do some regular boyfriend shit for my girlfriend and surprise her at an event that I don't care for and my good for nothing Godfather decides to make my life at school an issue to deal with as well.

I only ever come to do these things for Karma and he's tainted the place for me already.

He can never wipe that annoyingly fucking smug look off of his face ever.

Of course, he donated money to the school. If I didn't know any better I'd say he has an alternative motive. He always does.

After the school finished kissing his ass for donating money for those calculators, I was stuck at the back of the school cafeteria watching the whole 'speed tutoring thing go down. Each tutor was assigned to a specific table and it was the students who were looking for tutoring that were doing the rotations, going from table to table to find someone that they enjoy talking to who could then become their designated tutor/mentor.

After a while, I got tired of standing here and decide to leave the cafeteria to walk around the school. I had never been here at night and I needed space to think. I can't be in that room where they play that fucking elevator music anymore.

They've been playing The Chainsmokers back to back and I can't stand to hear them singing about someone pulling them closer anymore.

I knew that I had a reason to dislike Mr.Maddow. How does he even know Joseph?

Joseph doesn't even have a kid that goes here so why pick this school out of all the schools, his own children's schools for that matter, to donate a serious amount of money like that.

I was walking around the school hallways and I passed my locker that I never really use. I probably should learn the combination to that but we're already halfway through the school year.

I stuck my hands in the front pocket of my jeans as I continued to walk and I saw Cyrus standing with his back pressed against the locker near his own. His own locker is open, drinking a bottle of Gatorade. I watch as he scratches the back of his neck before he turns his head in my direction with a sigh.

"I care about Justine, man. But that girl is working my last nerve," he grumbles to himself as he downs some more of his drink.

I chuckle softly as I point to his drink silently asking for one because I knew he probably kept some in his locker. When he hands me the glacier freeze flavor, I'm quick to take a sip, screwing the lid back on, "What'd she do now?"

He sighs, "Nothing. It's just I feel like she's kind of overdoing the whole gunshot injury thing. I don't mind the stuff she asks of me but the last thing she told me to do was kind of ridiculous if you fucking ask me. She--" he pauses, "She literally looked at the fruit punch that they had in the bowl on the snack table and when I went to give her a cup, she looked at the cup in my hand and said, "'You know what, boo. I don't know what they did or who made this drink and neither do you. Do you mind going to the nearest store and getting me the Gatorade flavored fruit punch?' Jesse, I was about to say no and everything but she looked up at me with those big pretty eyes of hers and I couldn't do it. So I said, 'Sure, babe. I'll be right back."

"So I walked out of the school and drove to 7/11, they didn't have the fruit punch flavor. So I called her and asked if she'd be okay with the orange flavor so she said, 'Oh but babe, Orange is nice but I was really craving fruit punch." he says in high pitched voice and the continued, "' But if you can't do that for me then that's fine I'll take the orange.'" he finished and went back to his real voice, "So I told her immediately, 'Alright, babe. I'll do that for you. I'll go to another store.' I thought it's the least I could do for, ya know, getting her hurt."

"I went to another damn store, and the fruit punch was gone. Sold the fuck out. So I went to another, store and another, and another until I decided to go to a gas station and look there. Found it. Then when I get here to give it to her she smiles. And I said, 'Finally. She's smiling and it's because of me this time.' Just for her to tell me, 'Baby, I was thinking about it and I actually wouldn't mind the orange. You bought that right?'" He groans quietly

"I'm irritated as hell. I almost went back and bought the drink but I came out here to get a breath before I leave again." He says and I'm quick to grab his shoulder to stop him

Holding the drink in my other hand I say, "Look, I love Karma with all my heart, and then some." I start, "But not even I can jump through all those hoops in one night. Not over a fucking Gatorade, Cy." I finish

"You know if I didn't know any better I'd say there's an ulterior motive." I open the bottle and take a larger sip before screwing the cap back on as I begin to eye him

Karma told me Justine had been lying. I was annoyed that Justine had been pretending for this long. I was going to tell Cyrus but she made me swear not to. So I said I wouldn't.

But I never said I wouldn't drop hints.

"Ulterior motive? Like what?"

"I mean she's kinda using you, don't you think?"

"Well no. She's a bit indecisive I guess but I wouldn't say she's flat out using me."

"Indecisive? Indecisive is not being able to pick between what two shirts you want to wear for the day, Or what color iPhone you want. Making you hop from store to store all so that you can get her a particular flavor of a drink is not indecisive it's a bit manipulative, buddy."

He nods his head and says, "I know Justine, Jesse. You're always so quick to assume the worst out of someone."

I scoff, "Please, you flat out would disrespect Karma to her face when she barely did anything to you or me back when we first started talking. Justine is using the fuck out of you. You know what, I forgot the little comments you'd make towards my girlfriend for no reason, so I'll let you figure this one out on your own." I say honestly. If there's one thing that Cyrus and I had in common as our humor. However, sometimes he might take it farther than he needs to.

Karma wouldn't pretend to practically be a cripple behind my back so that'll make him think twice before he makes any slick remarks towards my girl again.

"See you back in there. Say hi to your boss--I mean girlfriend for me." I give him a smug smile as he rolls his eyes, I walk past him continuing my leisurely stroll

----------------------------------------

As I continued my little stroll, I heard hushed voices talking not too far away. I turned around a corner going into the hallway of Mr. Maddow's classroom. Seeing the door wide open, the voices had been coming from there. Both voices were too distinct for me to not recognize.

Mr.Maddow and Joseph.

I walked as close to the side of the door as possible but not close enough to be seen. I placed my back against the wall, keeping as quiet as I can.

"You've been here for how many weeks and I don't see any progress being made. I sent you here to watch over my nephew as best as possible and all you've done is sit here at this desk and play teacher."

"Probably because I am a teacher, Joseph."

"Please I faked your degree and added things to your resume so you could use it in your fucking interview to get you the job. You got the job and you've been doing that rather than the actual reason I sent you here for."

"Well, what do you want me to do? Walk in this school one day as an active shooter and hold the kid and his friends as hostages?"

"I would've much rather preferred that now that I know you've been fraternizing with his girlfriend. For fuck sakes, Jonah, I didn't send you here for that."

"I can't help it. What's a girl like that doing with your nephew anyway. A girl as beautiful and intelligent as she is. She needs someone on her level intellectually."

"And what? Do you think you'd be the one to do that? Her math teacher?" He says

It grows silent in there until Joseph speaks again

"Exactly. You know what, Jonah?" Joseph pauses, "Since you've gotten so far with the girl. She actually trusts you. Since Jesse clearly doesn't interest you. I need you to focus on her since she's making you spiral like this."

"Focus on her how?" I hear Maddow ask

"Kill her, Jonah."

I hear a loud thud, "Joseph, I can't do that." I hear Jonah seethe as he speaks slowly

"You can and you will. Unless you want me to take matters into my own hands, of course. You know I have the means to do so. Besides, I already had a hit put out on two of the girls in your class, you think my nephew's girlfriend is any different? He's getting close to Gio. Too close for comfort. I know how my nephew is he never keeps his nose out of anyone's business. Always trying to save someone." Josephs sucks his teeth

"Now that his father is gone. I want what he has. I don't know who Jesse thinks he is trying to hang with the big boys. He can't handle it."

"Exactly, so I'll go after Jesse. Leave Karma out of this."

Joseph snickers, "That's her name. She's his karma alright. You should've gotten to Jesse when you had the chance. After all, he killed your father not too long ago, is it not you that came to me screaming about how you wanted to 'return the favor.' You meet his girlfriend and all your priorities changed."

"My nephew is quite the assassin. His useless father made that possible. You kill his girlfriend it's an eye for an eye. Make him suffer the way you have. The kid will be so devastated. I'll be there to piece him back together. He'll get to hang out with his brother Gio all he wants."

"You mean God-brother?" Jonas asks

It's silent for a few seconds before Joseph speaks again, "Oh. I haven't told you." he sighs

"His father, that spineless son of a bitch. Years ago, before Gio was born, he slept with my wife. Cheating on his own. I'm not sure of the timeline and exactly when it happened all I remember is my wife crying to me saying she's pregnant. I asked her what's wrong, why she would be upset. Until she told me it wasn't mine and it was his. I loved her so much, I told her that I'd stay with her and raise the kid as if he were my own. She never told Jesse's father. Jesse never knew. I had the shock of my life when I saw Jesse lifting Gio out of his car that day that he stole him from the daycare."

"I didn't press charges because he's my nephew and as much as I hate to admit it, He's Gio's brother. Half-brother anyway. I stopped talked to Jesse and his father when Gio was born. But Jesse found him anyway. You kill Karma he'll have more time to get to know his only brother and repair our relationship."

"Jonah Maddow, if and when you kill Karma. You'll be getting your revenge."

"I fucking hate that name it's so bland. Jonah De Luca." I hear Jonah say back

"I can't make any promises, I don't want to hurt her."

---------------------------------------

[a/n] OMG It's been so hard keeping this a secret. Some of your theories were right lolol but not 100% correct.

Gio truly is Jesse's brother. And Jonah's dad is the same man that Karma saw Jesse kill for the first time."
