JAYDA'S PERSPECTIVE

I sat in the parking lot of Wendy's waiting for Tayvon to come and get Justyce because he gets her on weekends. The situation was worked out by ourselves instead of bringing the difficulty of the law into it. But if he decided to act up, I wouldn't hesitate to put him on child support.

I called up his phone for the fourth time in ten minutes before he decided to answer. I know he's ignoring my calls.

"Jayda-"

"Where are you at? It's cold and I'm sitting in the car wasting gas trying to keep us warm."

"I can't get Justyce this weekend."

"Again? This is the third time in a row Tayvon. You haven't seen Justyce in almost an entire month. You know how crazy that sounds right? And what about the fifty dollars for her coat?" I bombarded him with questions.

"I'm not finna argue with yo ass Jayda. All you wanna do is argue with me! I got shit to do accept it!" He sighed. "I'll see her when I see her."

"Why the fuck are you yelling! And you'll see her when you see her?" My voice croaked. "I was supposed to work extra shifts today so I can keep my lights on, and you pull this shit again. What can be more important than your daughter?!"

"My son! That's who's more important. Now get off my line and stop bitching." His words leaked with venom which did indeed do something to me inside and my already growing hate for him.

My heart dropped and my breathing altered. When I finally pulled the phone away from my ear I noticed that he had hung up. I decided to text him because if I heard his voice again I was going to go apeshit with the words. He texted me saying he's sorry he didn't mean to go off like that. I know he meant it though, he wanted to hurt me and I don't understand why.

Me

      -How old is he?

Justyce's Father🤡

      -a year old😐 Sorry

Me

      -🤗

You know what. This was the last straw. He got some bitch pregnant while we were together and decided to abandon my baby? He got another thing coming. He really doesn't know who he is messing with. I wonder who he got pregnant though. Never in a million would I have thought I'd become someone's baby mama. I've always dreamed of becoming someone's wife first.

"Welp. It's officially just me and you stinka." I pulled her out from her car seat and into my arms. I grabbed her blue and violet quilt to cover up her feet which were already covered with three pairs of warm fuzzy socks. I made sure the hat was pulled over her chocolate ears. The curls from her head peaked from under the hat and curled around her ears. My baby was officially five months today and it amazed me how fast time was flying. She was just a newborn baby like yesterday.

Concluding that I've worked myself up an appetite, I walked into Wendy's and ordered a four-for-four leaving enough money for gas and for work tomorrow. Once my food was ready I took a seat at a booth and got to eating.

"You're so fat." I recorded Justyce killing those banana slices one by one. I'm always recording to save our moments together in case something ever happened to me. I don't know why, but ever since she was born I'm always thinking about dying in a freak accident or a stray bullet or something.

A guy walked past the window that had similar features to her father. He was smoking a square. I hate cigarettes.

I sat thinking to myself what did I do for him to cheat on me? Was I not good enough or pretty enough? But the main question was why he acts like he doesn't love Justyce? She's the sweetest of the sweetest and his flesh and blood. And it's unfair to Justyce and that hurts.

"Wassup." Someone took a seat across from me. The smell of expensive cologne instantly rushed up my nostrils making a rush of butterflies rush from the pit of my stomach and up to my chest. My eyes first landed on the big hand pulsing with veins and big clean fingertips.

I love a man with clean nails.

My eyes spotted the big face on his wrist clearly encrusted with diamonds. Hmm? What drugs does this one sell?

"Are you stalking me?" I squinted. I pulled Justyce's high chair closer to me, handing her a spoonful of applesauce for her to chew on. I tried wiping the sauce off her face and she managed to grip her gums around my finger and massaged my fingers as she tried sucking the applesauce off of.

"Nah I ain't crazy. Just coincidental I guess" he shrugged and grabbed one of my fries. I scoffed in disbelief. "Fourth times a charm."

Did he just take my fries?

"Don't touch my food. Ever again. Capiche?"

"Entiendo." He held his hands up. I couldn't help, but laugh at him. He looks like the type to have kids in each hood.

"And yea it is kinda odd. I'm seeing you more than a bill now." I cleared my throat and took a sip of my fruit punch.

"Since I'm here, I want to apologize for the other day" he started off. "I wasn't trying to offend you, I was just wondering why babygirl was in the cold with no shoes on her feet. My bad if I offended you I was only concerned."

He pulled out a bac-o-nator and stuffed about five fries in his mouth at once. My mouth watered at the sight of his jaw clenching and unclench at each chew. It was perfectly chiseled and bare of any facial hair.

"It's okay. Just gotta get her some more." I shrugged giving a short response while dipping my burger into the bbq sauce.

"I got something. Be right back." He slid out the booth. I watched out the window as he opened the trunk of the black Impala and grabbed an orange NIKE bag.

He soon returned to the booth with a smile and sat the bag on the table.

This better not be what I think this man done bought

I stared at the stud in his ear and the structure of his jawline as he continued to eat and mess with Justyce waiting for me to touch the bag. I continued to eat my food not once touching the bag like I'd don't see it when I heard a loud groan. He opened up the box inside the bag and took out a pair of white air ones and a pair of ugg boots. I rolled my eyes looking elsewhere, succeeding in holding back my tears. Do I look that much in need?

"What are you doing? Am I supposed to be impressed?" He shook his head no and his eyebrows tightly furrowed. "I can't accept this because I don't take handouts." I firmly stated.

"The forces are the ones you bought her, I just got 'em back and I bought her a pair of uggs and socks from the Water Tower as an apology gift." He licked his lips and stared at me in a certain type of way. Like he could see through me and what I was thinking.

I decided not to question how he got back her shoes...

And I decided to put my pride aside and accept his gift, because at the end of the day it's not about my pride nor my feelings, it's about keeping Justyce safe and warm. I can't keep her going without shoes on her feet.

"Thank you." I flashed him a small smile. I'm so embarrassed.

"You welcome baygirl." He nodded without breaking eye contact, making me unwillingly cheese. Jaydaa.

"The name is Cyn." He teased me by grabbing my hand, but I pulled away.

"You look more like a Jayda but that name is nice too."

"Your brother," I exhaled heavily. Dammit.

"Yea. Why you lying about your name, girl? What Ima do turn you into the feds? You living foul or some?" I held my hand up stopping him.

"No no I just don't know you."

"Aight. I can understand that."

Justyce let out a loud belch. I looked at the big baby sitting in the high chair. Her Winnie the Pooh hat was beginning to slide off, but before I could fix it, Mr. Impala beat me to the punch and pulled down her crooked hat over her ears.

"Thank you. But don't touch my baby." I demanded in all seriousness. Fuck wrong with buddy. He is a little too hands on for me.

"I'm a clean nigga don't treat me like I'm one of these dirty niggas out hea'. But I understand, my fault." He nodded and so did I. "Damnnn. Lil mama can eat." He laughed and waved away the air in his face from another belch from Justyce.

I watched as Justyce made it her goal to reach out of her chair to try to snag his cheesy fries for herself. In the midst, I was captured by his gold Cuban link chain shining from the lamp in between us. He was dressed in an all black long sleeved turtleneck with CK at the end of the sleeves. He also sported a brown skully sitting folded on top of his head. He looked so good in that Northface coat for some reason. I could also tell that he kept himself polished by how clean his fingernails were and I could smell the cologne of his combined with the cold atmosphere.

"Where does she get this big ass appetite though? She trying to devour the fries forreal." He spoke in amusement.

"She shouldn't be trying to eat solids yet." I removed the smushed up fries from her tight grip. I laughed, reminiscing more to myself of my after labor. I was so in shock. Even though I was by myself I was proud of my work. I pushed out a seven pound baby and she came out to be so beautiful.

"Well I just wanted you to know that if you need anything like a ride to work or some that I'm one phone call away?" He looked out the window at something for a long period of seconds before shifting his gaze back at mine. It was then when I noticed that his eyes were very intensified on my face, causing me to hitch my breath.

"You aight?" His raspy voice made my body tingle all over.

"Mhm."

What the hell was that Jayda?

I typed my number into his phone and he typed his into mine. As I typed away on his phone, a notification appeared. It said from '🍆🤤'. I cleared my throat before handing it back.

Of course he got hoes. Prolly all up and down Chicago.

"Aye, ignore that message." He cheesed showcasing his perfect teeth while rubbing the side of his face. I shrugged, raising my hands.

"That's your business."

He called me because he wanted to make sure I didn't give him a phony number.

"I gotta go. It was nice talking to you though." He fixed his hat and got up scratching at his brow. When he stood I just realized that dude was very very tall. Like six foot something.

"See you around." I waved.

"Can I get a hug?" I smiled getting up and embraced him into a friendly hug instantly warming my forearms and my heart melted at the sight of my baby smiling at him as he waved her goodbye.

"Cato! Catoo!" I jumped when I turned my head towards the window where a very dingy looking man stood outside of the window tapping on it and saying the name over and over again. He was obviously homeless.

Cato looked back towards me shaking his head while clenching and unclenching his jaw. I just kept a raised brows.

"Lemme guess. He needs a f-" he cut me off.

"Keep that face pretty for me ma'." He licked his bottom lip before grabbing his coat and shaking Justyce's hand and walking out of Wendy's.

She began to whine and weep when she noticed that he wasn't coming back. It's time to go home. She looked at me with pouty lips and watery eyes.

"Girl quit it." I chuckled. My baby gets too attached, like me.

As soon as I got home, I showered and grabbed my tub of yogurt and grains of granola before hopping in my bed and handing Justyce her warm bottle. My baby's fresh scent invaded my nostrils bringing me to a state of relaxation.

My mind was on Cato though. He is so fine. His deep voice just adds on more brownie points too. I could tell that he's not like all these other niggas. I guess I could call him my crush. And it's crazy because we keep running into one another.

I was exploring Instagram with my tv on low playing BAPS when I received a text.

My Man💕🤤

                 - Babygirl?

You and this nickname is outta pocket😩Wassup?

My Man💕🤤

                - But you like it tho😏 You and pretty baby made it home safely?

Yes. Did you?

My Man💕🤤

                - I'm not at home rn but I'm cool. Ft me.

No I look bogus😭

My Man💕🤤 is FaceTiming you...

I groaned while getting under my cover to where he could only see my face and turn on my side. I made sure to put a pillow on the side of Justyce before clicking the green button.

"Wow. A bonnet makes you look so bummy." He spoke sarcastically. He seemed to be walking, which I didn't understand why because he had a car and it's 9 o'clock at night.

"Shut up. Why are you walking in the dark? It's dangerous out there."

"Niggas know better, but I'm walking to my car from visiting somebody." I could hear the gravel under his feet as he dragged his feet.

"Oh okay. How old are you?" He looked down at the camera before cheesing, showcasing his pearly whites and looking back up at his surroundings.

"I'm 23. Man don't tell me you are a minor." he stopped in his tracks to close his eyes as if he was praying.

"Nope. I'm a solid twenty." I smiled.

"Dammit shawty you can't even drink yet." He laughed over the dinging of his car door being open. I told him to shut up and watched as he got in and started up the car. I could hear Lil Bibby blast through his speakers before he turned it down and put his phone on something which held it up.

"Yo necklace go crazy by the way." He brushes over his head with his head. I could see lights and color bounce off of his brown face as he sped through the street.

I glanced at the necklace on my chest that read 'Justyce's Utopia'. I got it made a month after my baby was born and I've always remembered to wear it ever since. Wearing this necklace is like second nature now.

"Thanks. It's just a necklace."

"Nah. The meaning. It means you yo' daughter's safe haven, her happiness, her keeper right?"

"Yeah. You interpreted it perfectly." I smiled at his interpretation. He shrugged, obviously feeling himself. "You got a girl?"

"Why, you crushin?" He teased, chuckling, glancing at me then back at the road. I rolled my eyes, unknowingly biting my lip.

"I just wanted to know.."

"Nah I'm chillin right now. You got a nigga?"

"Nope. I'm chillin 'too. I'm just focusing on my daughter and improving my life." I spoke honestly. "What do you do for a living?" I wanted to know how he could afford those expensive cars. And I do recall him living in a higher classed neighborhood. Unless that wasn't his house. Maybe it's a girlfriend's house? Or his mother?

"I invest in a variety of businesses. What about you?" He bluntly stated. I wanted specifics, but I guess that'll do for now.

"Erm, well I work at a tailor shop and for side money I tutor kids." I took a spoonful of banana and strawberry yogurt.

I waited to see if he was going to laugh at what I did, but he didn't. All he did was nod. Mature. Tayvon just laughed in my face when I told him where I'd be working when I was six months pregnant with Justyce.

"Damn. You must be smart and quick with your hands huh?"

"Some like that." I bragged. "You know what's crazy, I never caught your name. I've been labeling you as Mr. Impala the entire time."

I knew his name of course. I just wanted to hear him say it.

"Just call me D-Cato or Cato."

Sexy ass name for a sexy ass nigga.

"Okay Cato. You can call me Jayda."
