*WES' POV*

I watch as little flakes of snow gently hit the floor to ceiling window of my study.

For the past few days the amount of snow dropping has lessened yet I'm still working from home. The main reason might be the fact that I'm comfortable working around Chicago.

Speaking of Chicago. Things have been way awkward between us ever since she told me she loves me, that is two weeks ago. But I've been acting like I never heard what she said to avoid making her feel uncomfortable.

The buzzing of my phone breaks my daydreaming.I check it and it's a text from Jean.

Jean: Erick got accepted to the academy.

After our melodramatic Christmas party Jean has been the one looking after Erick.

My father and Meghan are both fighting for full custody over Erick. The court ordered for Erick to be taken care of by a third party for the time being and Jean was selected.

Jayda was thrown out of the mansion by my father for not telling him about Erick.

Serenity left New York right after christmas and as for me I haven't talked to my father since christmas and I'm not planning to.

I start replying to Jean's text when I'm interrupted by a call. I check the caller ID and it's my father calling.

I stand corrected !

I pick it after the fourth ring.

"What !" I snap.

"I need you in my office right now."

With those few words he ends the damn call.

When I walk into my father's office, I find him leaning on his chair smoking a cigar. I stand in front of him, hands in my pocket.

"You wanted to see me ?" I ask him once he acknowledges my presence.

He hands me a red folder that is full of stacks of papers. I take it and start going through each and everyone of them.

"This is ownership of the company..." I say in shock.

"Yes Dean. The Hughes Power Company is now yours." He says.

"That means..."

"You won the Forbes top ten youngest C.E.O competition... and as I promised... the company is yours."

He hands me a pen but I don't sign the papers. As much as I'm concerned I might be signing my soul to the devil himself.

"I'll have my lawer go through it."

He chuckles." You'll never trust me son... will you ?"

I don't answer because he already knows the answer to that particular question.

When I enter the mansion I directly head for Chicago's room. It's six in the evening so I know she hasn't had dinner yet.

I knock on her door and she opens it a second later. She's wearing nothing but my t-shirt. Her hair is in a mess. Like she has been sleeping the whole day.

"I brought you dinner." I say to her as I hand her the take-out bag containing tacos from the Spanish restaurant across the Hughes building.

That's all she has been eating.

She whispers a 'thank you' and closes the door.

***

I watch as the clock strikes twelve.

I'm lying on my bed trying to sleep but I just can't.

I get out of bed and put on a t-shirt. I walk out of my room and find myself standing outside Chicago's door.

I hesitantly twist the door knob and walk in. She's lying on her bed staring at the plain white ceiling. Once she sees me she quickly sits up.

"Hey..."

"Hi" She answers shyly.

She looks cute just sitting there awkwardly.

"I can't sleep." I suddenly blurt out.

I wait for her to say something but she doesn't. Instead she pats on the empty space beside her on the bed.

I walk to her and get under the silk comforter. I lay my head on her chest as she starts threading her fingers into my dirty blonde, silky locks and combs through the tangles.

I close my eyes as she continues to comb my hair with her fingers.

A small noise escapes me and I feel her hold me tighter. She places her soft pink lips on the top of my head and rocks me to sleep.
