No song :(

In my defense 🙄...
It's really hard to find that ONE song...
fitting the damn chapter well.

*WES' POV*

Once Edward tells me he has already given Chicago keys to the range I decide to tease her a little bit. I take out my phone and text her.

Wes:Be careful with my Range Ms Brook...it costed me a hundred and eighty three thousand dollars.

A second later my phone buzzes. I check it and it's a text from Chicago.

Chicago:Yes Mr Hughes... I'm already doing a good job.

She then sends me a picture of one of her legs crossed next to the dash board.

Wes: Get your legs down !

I text back. She can't drive like that. She'll get a dent on my car or worse... she can get herself hurt.

Chicago: Make me !

I laugh at her answer and head out to the garage but before I reach my phone rings. I check the caller ID and it's my father. I hesitate but eventually I pick it up.

"Yeah" I hear him say something to his assistant before he turns back to the phone.

"I just called to remind you that your book is needed the first thing after christmas. I hope it's done."

I grunt before answering. "Yeah, I'm almost done."

We talk for the next twenty or so minutes. He tells me am top three at the Forbes Top Ten Young CEO Nominations Board. I act excited and he buys it. Once the call ends that's when reality hits me.

Chicago's time at the mansion is almost over. The contract she signed indicated that she's free to go once the book is done and the book is almost done.

I run to the garage but Chicago has already left.

I can't let her leave. I need her here. I'm sane when she's around. She's the reason why I haven't murdered Meghan in cold blood or why I haven't tried running over Jayda with my car.

She just can't leave. I don't care what that stupid contract Jean drafted says.

I decide to head out to my study to work on a few things from the office that Rachel had sent over. I pass Meghan's room and the door is ajar.

"I don't care if that's a huge amount, I want it in my account in the next hour." I hear her say.

I assume she's talking to the phone because for sure I know there are no guests at the mansion and I'm right. She's on the phone.

"I'm gonna tell Dean if the money does-"

"Tell me what exactly ?" I cut her off and she turns around to face me.

Her face turns white. She whispers 'I'll call you back later' on the phone then ends it.

"Dean... I didn't see you there."

"Yeah you didn't. Who was that on the phone ?"

She walks towards me smiling slyly. "You've been avoiding Erick."

I know what she's doing.

"Stop trying to change the damn topic." I tell her.

"Stop trying to change the damn topic." She tells me as she wraps her hands round my torso and squeezes me.

"I'm not trying to change anything and I'm not avoiding Erick. He just arrived yesterday. I'm giving him his space."

Meghan shrugs then chuckles at me.

"He's a six year old, he doesn't have any space."

I unwrap her hands from my torso and move away from her. "I'll go and see him later in the evening..."

She fakes a smile and forces an 'okay' out of her mouth. I start to exit her room but stop at the door and turn to her.

She's already seated on the couch, her eyes closed.

"Oh and Megh..."

"Mmmh..."

"I'm going to find out who that call was to and what it was about."

She abruptly gets up from she couch and stares at me fiercely.

"This is a fight you don't want to have Dean !" She rudely says.

"I didn't pick it..."

...and with those words I leave her room. I practically feel her cold gaze burning a hole in my t-shirt but I've become immune to her wicked ways.

I head to my office to work but I can't seem to get Chicago out of my mind.I decide to text her.

Wes: Can you come back to the mansion ? I need your assistance with something.

Two hours fourty five minutes later I hear the main gates of the mansion open. I walk towards the window and see Chicago pull in. I head downstairs to meet her.

"You took way too long."

I tell her as she enters the mansion, her back towards me. She squeals and I find myself smiling.

"I was driving carefully so as not ruin your precious Range." She answers sarcastically but before I could answer back the door opens and a lady walks in all covered in snow.

Once her eyes meets mine she smiles widely and runs to hug me. I smile and hug her back. I then break the hug after a while and turn to face Chicago.

"Chicago meet Serenity... my cousin."

Serenity puts out her hand and Chicago shakes it.

"You must be Dean's girlfriend."

Chicago just smiles and says nothing.

"What are you doing in New York Serenity ?"

She turns to face me."Oh... the annual Hughes Christmas party is in a few weeks and I'm not going to miss that because of the airport closing due to 'bad weather' " She makes air speech marks with her fingers.

"Okay" I say to her and she turns her attention back to Chicago.

"You must have really made quite the impression if he even let you move in. You are a lucky one." She smiles at Chicago and heads upstairs.

"Tell the help to get my bags... and am having the purple room on the east wing." She shouts as she dissapears in the hallway upstairs.

"You texted ?"

I turn my attention towards Chicago.."Uuhhmm... to my study. Follow me."

Once we're settled in my study I ask her about the book and she says it'll be ready right after christmas.

She gets her laptop from her room and we work in silence. I steal a few glances as we work.

I'm not letting her go anywhere.
