*CHICAGO'S POV*

My alarm goes off at 6:00 in the morning. I groan softly as I try to turn off the annoying sound. I have a lot of catching up to do regarding Wes' book.

I've been on bed rest for three whole days and that has lagged me behind.

Wes had insisted and I had no choice but to comply. Tamika has been making me hot mushroom soup and ginger tea.

When I begged her for a single bar of chocolate she said Wes had hid all of them and was watching all her food.

I hate protective Wes but thanks to him I feel better right now.

My relationship with Wes has gone to another level ever since he opened up to me. I just hope not to get attached to him but that is definately impossible considering my feelings for him.

I get out of bed and zombie to the bathroom. I peek out the window and it is heavily snowing outside. Christmas is just around the corner, five weeks from now and I'm going to spend it without my family.

Huh...

The ringing of my phone brings me back to reality. I check the caller ID and see it's Chrissy.

"Hello" I answer trying to sound cold.

She says she has something important to tell me. I tell her to spit it out but she insists I meet her in person.

"Tomorrow 9:00 am at that coffee shop near the park. Don't be late !"

I end the call without waiting for her response.

I take a very hot shower to remove the cold, sleep and exhaustion that I feel. Fifteen minutes later I'm all cleaned up and dressed in black skinny jeans and a white hoodie.

My hair is in its usuall loose bun. I take my laptop and check my emails and messages. Once I'm done I work on two chapters of the book. I also do some proof reading and correct my grammatical errors.

By the time I'm done it's 9.15 am and I'm hungry. I carry my laptop and head downstairs.

I pass Wes' study and hear him talking on the phone. Ever since it started snowing he has been working from home. He only goes to the office when it is necessary.

I head for the living room and guess who's there...

Meghan !

I'm suddenly not hungry anymore.

She is seated on the couch munching a cookie, her legs are on a stool and a maid is giving her a foot massage.

Really ?

Once she sees me she waves the maid off who literally rans out of the room. I sit on the couch opposite from her and focuse my attention on my computer.

I'm not going to let Meghan's negative aura get in my way.

Not today.

"Hmm... nerdy."

I hear her say. I look up and she's referring to my reading glasses.

Bad aura.

"I have a surprise for you Charlotte..." She says while  smiling at me sheepishly.

"It's Chicago !"

"...and I don't ca-"

Before she could finish Wes walks in. He seems to be in a good mood today. I catch his contagious smile and immediately smile back at him.

"Eeew... get a room you two."

I hear Meghan mutter under her breath and just like me Wes ignores her. He joins me on the couch and for the next two hours we discuss the book.

Meghan makes some rude remarks but we ignore her.

The door bell rings and that gets our attention.

I notice the devilish smile on Meghan's face and instantly know that this isn't good.

We all head for the front door and Chad walks in with a man and lady. Both are exquisitely dressed. They look to be around their fifties. After they walk in that's when I noticed the young lady with a little boy in her arms.

Erick !

"Mama...papa..." Meghan rans towards the man and lady. "Welcome to Dean's mansion."

Wes greets the two Piers in front of us. Meghan goes towards her son, pulls him out of the young lady's hold and practically shoves him towards Wes.

Meghan then turns and chuckles at my facial expression.

"I told you I have a surprise for you Chichi..."

It's Chicago !

I roll my eyes and I storm to my room before anyone sees my tears.

"Ms Brook..."

I turn and see Chad running after me with an envelope in his hands.

"This came in for you... are you alright miss ?"

I thank him while completely ignoring his question and get into my room.

After I lock the door the tears flow freely. I cry for around five minutes before the ringing of phone breaks my ugly sobs.

"Hey..."

Logan's exited voice greets me at the other side of the phone.

"Yeah..."

"Did you get the envelope ...? it's the DNA test... I told the lab to send it directly to you."

The DNA test !

I had completely forgotten about that. I end the call ignoring whatever it is Logan is saying.

I stare at the sealed envelope infront of me. Tears flowing from my eyes. I toss it across the room and I see it land under my bed. There's no use for a DNA test result anymore.

I lie on my bed head first and cry myself to sleep.
