I felt as if my heart would burst though my chest any second now. "Al-alright," I mumbled nervously as he bent down and pressed his lips to mine.
My body felt warm, as if I was burning from the inside. My heart monitor started to beep more quickly. And our lips separated as we both chuckled. "I'm almost going to miss that thing."
       "Stop it," I laughed defensively.
"If that's how your heart beats when I kiss you, imagine if-" he started but I interrupted by playfully slapping his chest.
      "You are insufferable," I laughed.
He carefully pulled me closer to him, careful not to tug on the IV. He pressed his forehead against mine.
"Listen, Wife," he growled sensually. "Are you flirting with me?" He breathed against the side of my neck, giving me goosebumps. His lips pressed against my exposed skin and I let out a suprised, soft moan. My face grew red, but I didn't care.
I lowered my eyes to meet his. They were dark and passionate. "Tab-" she started, but I pressed my lips to his. I wrapped my arm around his neck and kissed him even more deeply. Ignoring the heart monitor, I ran my fingers through his hair.
Then there was a knock at the door. We scrambled apart, returning to our positions seated next to eachother. I leaned my head down against his chest, hoping to hide my blushing.
The knock came again. "Come in!" I called out.
Dr. Hanson walked in again, smiling. "It seems your tests have come back all clear. You can go home," she smiled. "But you need to rest in bed for at least a week, do you need a bite for work?" she asked.
"Yes pl-" I started speaking but Alex cut me off.
"She doesn't work there anymore," he spoke softly.

     "I don't?" I asked.
"Remember, you quit? The day before our wedding was your last day," he smiled sadly.
Suddenly, memories from that day slowly came back to me. "Oh, right."
"It's alright, it's normal to have a few gaps in your memory after something like this. It will come back," she smiled.
     "Thank you," I smiled.
"The nurse will be in with your discharge papers shortly, and i am prescribing you medication for your headaches. Do me a favor, and actually take it," she laughed as she left.
"You two seem close," Alex smiled.
"I know you're not supposed to be friends with a patient, but she's patched me up quite a few times. We kinda bonded over that," I explained.
"Can I ask you something?" he asked. "It's something I wouldn't have thought to ask before, but now..."
My heart sank. He was going to get rid of me. "S-sure," I spoke nervously.
"When we get to the manor, would you be okay with sharing a room with me, sleeping in the same bed?" he asked.
I felt a bit shocked. That is not what I thought he was going to say. I slowly began to smile.
"I mean, before with the contract, it was kind of assumed, but I don't want to force you into anything. I just need you close to me," he explained with a concerned look on his face.
I lifted his chin so his gaze met mine. Softly I pressed my lips against his. "You make me feel safe, Alexios. I would love to fall asleep in your arms each night."
