"So I just turn right here?" Jung Kook asked.

"Yes..Just pull in there." Minji pointed at the low-rise apartment in blue.

Minji texted her Tia Isabelle a while back as soon as she sat inside the car. She was fidgeting again and she kept on tapping her fingers on her lap while waiting for Tia Isabelle to reply.

"Thank you so much for today, sir. Drive safely." She unbuckled the seatbelt when the car stopped.

"I'll help you 'til you reach home. Didn't you say earlier that you are living with your godmother?" Jung Kook unbuckled his seat belt. "I think it's my responsibility to explain and apologize as to why her godchild went home limping."

"Uhm, there's no need for that. I called her earlier today and explained that I tripped." Minji explained.

"Please, Minji, let me take responsibility." Jung Kook looked at him while his hand are on the steering wheel. Minji nodded which is Jung Kook's cue to get out of the car. He wrapped her arms around her neck and tried to get her up. They are walking to the apartment entrance while she was leaning on Jung Kook's body while Jung Kook's arms are wrapped around her waist.

"What happened to your foot, miss?" The guard asked her.

"Oh. I tripped at the office." He smiled at the guard. "This is my boss, by the way."

"Oh hello, sir." The guard bowed and Jung Kook lowered his head in response. The guard was about to help Jung Kook, "Oh no, no. I got this. Thank you." He noticed that Jung Kook's hands are around Minji's waist.

They walked their way in towards the elevator. Minji pressed the 3rd floor button. Jung Kook has been holding her waist for quite some time and every touch makes her more comfortable. "Hold me like this, forever."

When they reached the 3rd floor, Minji pointed that their apartment is on the 4th room to the right. It was Jung Kook who knocked on the door when they reached the front.

A woman who looks like in her early forties opened the door. She was wearing a faded green blouse and a knee-length skirt.

"Ay, child what happened to you?" She asked and opened the door widely so that they can get in.

"I told you, I tripped and twisted my ankle." Jung Kook helped her sat on the couch. "Tia Isabelle, this is my boss, Jeon Jung Kook. He helped me out so much today."

Jung Kook bowed her head to the lady. "It was my fault that Minji got in an accident. Forgive me."

Tia Isabelle tapped his shoulder, "Don't apologize, handsome boss. Minji's clumsy. She would often come home like a bird with a broken wing." Jung Kook let a small laugh.

"Anyway, I need to go. Thank you for letting me inside your lovely home and again I'm sorry." Jung Kook turned to Minji. "See you tomorrow."

Tia Isabelle drag Jung Kook to the kitchen and dining area. "Handsome boss, have dinner here. I'm almost done cooking."

"No, I couldn't possi--"

"No, I insist." Tia Isabelle placed plates and utensils on the table. "Sit wherever you want, handsome boss."

"You can call me Jung Kook, ma'am"

"And you can call me Tia Isabelle."

Jung Kook sat on an empty chair while his eyes wandered around their two-bedroom apartment. The walls are painted in white. He noticed that there are a lot of finished crochets: the table cover, the vases and even the coasters.

"Crocheting and knitting are my hobbies." Tia Isabelle mentioned when he noticed him looking at the coaster on the table.

He touched the sunflower crochet. "This is pretty, Tia Isabelle." His eyes then followed Minji when she entered her bedroom.

"Thank you, been trying to teach Minji how to crochet but she couldn't leave her books." Tia Isabelle turned off the stove and placed the pot on the center of the table. She scooped rice from the rice cooker as well and place the bowl beside the pot.

She was looking at how Tia Isabelle move around the kitchen and was reminded of his mom. He too would wait for his mom to cook dinner. Sometimes he would help her but his mom would scold him that he did not cut the vegetables evenly. But even so, she will tell that it will still taste good because "my loving son did this"  as he would often tell him.

Minji went out of her bedroom wearing an oversized T-shirt which was just two inches above her knee.

"Minji, your boss is here. Can you wear pants?"

Minji's face turned red. "Tia, I'm wearing shorts. Please, I'm comfortable now." She then gave stared at Tia Isabelle suggestively. "What is this woman talking about? Almost all of my clothes are back on our house. The only ones that were left here were the unwashed pieces when I got married."

"Oh no, don't mind it Tia Isabelle. I'm worse when I'm home."

Minji smirked. "Yes you are. breaking plates, throwing tantrums and leaving snake at the front. Not to mention that this is the third time you've sent me to the hospital, dummy!"

Minji sat beside Jung Kook while Tia Isabelle occupied the chair accross the four-seater rectangular table. Minji reached for the bowl of rice but Tia Isabelle slapped her hand.

"We haven't said grace. You lead." Minji clasped her hands and closed her eyes. Jung Kook did the same although he was of a different faith.

"Thank you for the food which we are about to receive.  God bless my Tia Isabelle who made them and God bless my boss, Jeon Jung Kook for helping me today..." Jung Kook opened one of his eyes and stare at Minji. It was the first time that he heard someone pray for him and hearing her say it means a lot to him.

"...Amen!" Minji finished her prayer. Tia Isabelle opened the pot and the steam escaped. She took Jung Kook's bowl and poured soup in it.

"I hope you like bone soup." Tia Isabelle then slid the bowl over to him using her fingers while Minji placed a cup of rice on his plate.

Jung Kook stared at the bowl for a while. Bone soup is his father's specialty. He would cook it for him during rainy days. He dipped his spoon and swirled it around to cool it down.

"That is Minji's recipe. I hope you'll like it." Tia Isabelle commented. Tia Isabelle started filling Minji's plate with rice. "Finish this."

Minji stopped Tia Isabelle's hands. "Tia, I can't!"

"No, no you have to. Your body is weak." Tia Isabelle poured soup on Minji's bowl as well. "Many children are starving."

Minji pouted. "Maybe you should adopt one so you don't crochet all day" Minji laughed and Tia Isabelle flicked her forehead. "You're just jealous because you can't do a simple chain."

"Am not!" Minji exclaimed.

"You are!" Tia Isabelle answered. "Remember the pull over that I made for you? You were all like Tia Isabelle teach me how to do it." Tia Isabelle was mimicking Minji and they both laughed. Jung Kook who was listening laughed with them.

"Forgive us Jung Kook. It's just how we talk."

"I enjoy listening to you." Jung Kook assured. He used to experience conversations over family dinner too. He would tell his parents what he did at school and his dad will make jokes out of it. Her mom would laugh her heart out. Those memories though seemed so distant now are the good old days. When his dad left them, family dinners at Jung Kook's house are quieter and though he wanted to ask her how her day was, he can already see on her tired face that it had been difficult.

Jung Kook took a slurp and almost dropped his utensil. "This tastes like how Dad makes it." A lot more memories came gushing in his mind. Minji, who noticed his silence, spoke to him: "Sir, is everything okay?" she asked.

"Uhh yes." Jung Kook's eye started to swell. "The spice got me." He laughed and took another spoon and everytime the soup touched his lips, images of his dad, their used-to-be happy family are flooding his mind. "Where did you learn this? I mean...you lived overseas."

"Y-youTube." Minji lied. Uncle Jung taught her how to do it. He would tell her how his son loved the soup on rainy days and during winter. He would prepare soup for her and her mom. Then he would tell stories about Jung Kook and his family over and over again with sadness in his eyes.

"...I did not fancy my dad's bone soup so I researched how others do it." she continued.

"It's really good." Jung Kook continued eating his soup. He knows that he hates his father but remembering him this way gives a pang to his heart. He remember him good, loving and alive. Jung Kook wiped his eyes from the tears that can't stop rolling. "but just a bit spicy to my taste."

Minji knew that what's making Jung Kook cry are the memories that the bone soup brought. She wanted to embrace him and tell her that everything will be alright, she wanted to tell him that his father put her to sleep by telling stories about him and whatever he did, he did for love.

Minji poured water on Jung Kook's glass. Jung Kook thanked her and continue with his meal.

Tia Isabelle was on her phone then stood. "Minji, I have to go back to the store before it closes. The owner told me that I left my wallet there."

"Oh. Finish your food first."

"Just put them in the fridge. Jung Kook, handsome boss, I'll leave you with Minji first. I need to get out." The elder woman then grabbed her coat and stepped out of the apartment while the two of them finished their meals in silence.

Minji stood and collected her plates to put them on the sink then she placed cover on Tia Isabelle's food and put it in the fridge. Afterwards, she went back to the sink and started to wash the dishes.

"You shouldn't be moving. Let me do that for you." He stood as he is also done with his meal. He went to join Minji and tried to snatch the sponge from her after he put his dishes in the sink.

"Noooo...you are our guest." Minji protested. "Watch TV." Minji moved her arm away but Jung Kook was successful in stealing the sponge away from him and began to sud the glass clean.

"Okay, i'll just rinse them then." Jung Kook then handed the glass  to her and she rinsed them under the running water.

"Did you know that I can juggle?" Jung Kook asked.

"You can't. And if you break Tia Isabelle's Corelle, she will break your bones and use it for her next bone soup."

Jung Kook laughed. "So who is the poor fellow that we just ate?"

Minji looked at him. "Who knows? But he or she must've pissed off my Tia Isabelle."

Jung Kook poked a sud of dishwashing liquid on her nose. Minji nudged his shoulder. "Stop playing, sir!" but Jung Kook didn't and just continued to poke her nose. Minji wiped it using the back of her hands but Jung Kook just repeated his childish action. Minji then whisked water on his face. Jung Kook rinsed his hand and started tickling her sides and neck. Minji couldn't run away because of her foot so her body kept on retracting.

Jung Kook laughed. "You look like a worm when it is sprinkled with salt."

Minji looked at him in annoyance. "Uhh...I'm not a worm..." She then turned around to get a clean discloth from the countertop. She felt Jung Kook following her. Jung Kook wrapped her arms around her waist.

"I had fun today."

Minji couldn't move. Jung Kook moved her hair to the left and began to trail his lips up her neck. She gasped and her breathing gets heavier. Jung Kook turned her around and carried her on top of the kitchen counter his arms not leaving her body. He ran his thumb over her lip. Minji on the other hand, was staring down, basking in the glory of Jung Kook's warmth.

Jung Kook cupped her chin to lift it up so her eyes can meet his. Jung Kook looked at her with eyes full of passion as he went nearer to kiss her while Minji brave herself in hooking her left hand around Jung Kook's neck to close the gap between their lips.

Jung Kook sucked her lower lip before his tongue fully entered Minji's mouth. Minji is still unresponsive with the kiss but found herself surrendering to the sensation when soft moans escaped her lips which gave Jung Kook the permission to dominate her raw. Minji's eyes closed and followed the swirl of Jung Kook's tongue. Jung Kook gripped her harder when she followed his lead. In no time, Minji, started sucking his tongue which ignited a frenzy inside Jung Kook. The kiss gets deeper and his right hand trailed on her shoulders down to her fingers but he stopped when his fingers felt the precious metal around her finger.

Reality hits him and remembered that he is confusing a betrothed woman. He pulled back and panted, so did Minji but she was wondering why did he end it.

"I'm sorry. I was...please forgive me." Jung Kook brushed his hair.

"I'm sorry too." There was silence between them. "Did I do anything wrong?"

Jung Kook shooked his head in disagreement. "You are engaged and I am your boss."

Minji has forgotten those invisible places that she cannot cross when Jung Kook kissed her and for a moment she wished she did not lie about getting engaged.  She looked away in embarrassment.

Jungkook held her chin to turn it then she took her right hand and brushed his thumb across her fingers while staring at her diamond ring.

"This is a pretty ring. The guy is lucky to have you" Jung Kook looked at her. "I want you. I won't deny. But it will be unfair for you if I continue"

On the short time that they have spent and knowing little about her, it is impossible for someone like him to fall for her--but he found himself doing so. However, no matter how fucked up his marriage is, he is still married and he cannot let Minji ruin her soon to be happy ending by confusing her feelings. She is too precious to be hurt.

"Uh--I want you too." Minji's voice is cracking, her eyes close to tears.

Jung Kook ruffled her hair and smiled at her. "No, you don't. You just missed him and I am here. Don't mistook it for love."

Jung Kook kissed her forehead which caused Minji's eyes to flood with tears. "Nothing will change. I will still be your helpful boss and I expect you to be a responsible editor." Minji is sobbing. "...but this between us, cannot happen. I want you but I have to let you go."

Jung Kook walked away and each step farther away seems to add a pound to his already broken heart. Minji on the other hand was left crying. She doesn't know why but she felt hurt beyond control. It is unfair that her first kiss be this painful.
