Robin was holding flowers. He gave me a small bouquet and then handed my mom a rose. We walked down to Robins house since it wasn't far. Once we arrived I noticed how busy it was. Robin's dad must know a lot of people.

We walked inside and a couple of Adults said hi to Robin. Robin led me and my mom over to where his dad was standing. He set down his cup once he saw us and smiled.

"Alina! So nice to see you again mi hija." He gave me a huge hug. I loved seeing him. He almost acted like the father figure I didn't have. He went over to me mom and shook her hand.

"Nice to meet you." Me and Robin walked away to let them talk, but we didn't let them out of our sight. We wanted to make sure they got along. I noticed them laughing and looked over at robin with a smile, but he didn't seem to happy.

I hugged him. Robin didn't like talking much about his feelings.

"Wanna meet my uncle?" He asked. I nodded and Robin took my hand to lead me over to his uncle. He was a tall man. He looked very similar to Robin's dad. He looked down at us with a welcoming smile.

"Sup kiddo. Who's this?" He asked.

"Uh this is Alina. She's my girlfriend."

I don't care how many times I hear it out loud, it always makes me feel butterflies.

"Nice to meet you sir." I held my hand out and shook his hand.

"I've heard lots about you, it's wonderful to finally meet you." He said.

"Oh? What've you heard?" I looked over to Robin and he turned red. I laughed at him.

"All good things, promise." He winked at me and smiled.

"He'll be the one watching over me while my dad is gone." Robin said.

"So I guess I'll be seeing you around often." His uncle laughed. It felt good to get along with Robins family. They all seemed so genuine and caring.

After a couple minutes of talking to Robin's uncle, we went back over to talk with our parents. My mom actually looked like she was enjoying herself. She was laughing and for once, I didn't see a drink in her hand.

"Robin would you go show Miss Maria where the snacks are." His dad said. He nodded and squeezed my hand, telling me bye. He walked off with my mom and I stood with Robins dad.

"I'll miss you mi hija." He said and hugged me again. I was starting to feel more sad about the whole situation. I really didn't want anything bad to happen.

"I'll miss you too."

"Let me tell you something," I looked up at him confused and he took a sip of his drink.

"You're the best thing that's happened to Robin. I've never seen him as happy as he is when he's with you. I think he really needs you."

I took a moment to think about what he said. It felt nice to know that I was so important to Robin. All I wanted to do was make him happy.

"Don't tell Robin I said this but," his dad turned all his attention to me.

"He loves you."

"I love him." His dad smiled and took another drink.

"Ah young love. Don't worry kiddo. He loves you too, he's just to scared to say it." I could feel myself starting to blush. We both sighed at the same time and leaned against the wall.

"Please come back." I said. He patted the top of my head gently and smiled at me.

"Whatever happens to me, I'll always love you like my own Alina."ย  I could feel myself starting to tear up. I couldn't imagine him not being here. He'd always been so supportive of me and Robin and he's such a great person.

"Go find him." He gestured to the crowd and I wandered off to find Robin. He was standing in the kitchen with my mom. I stood from a distance to watch them for a second. They were laughing and talking.

It made my heart happy.

I led Alina's mom to the snacks. I'm sure she didn't actually want anything to eat, my dad just wanted to talk to Alina. I was really hoping he wouldn't say anything that would embarrass me. It did allow me to spend some time with her mom though. I'd had my occasional run-ins with her but we never really got to talk.

"So how's school going?" She asked. That's such a typical adult question to ask.

"Not super great." I laughed and leaned against the counter.

"I suck at math and biology and history. So pretty much everything."

"Get Alina to do it for you. She gets good grades." She joked. I laughed and turned around to pick up a glass of water.

"Your daughter's amazing Miss Maria." I said.

"I want to thank you. You've brought out the best of her. She's a different person around you. Alina's a very private person. Sometimes I think it has to do with me." She got real quiet for a second. I'm not sure what their whole family history was but it definitely didn't seem good.

"She's got a good heart."

"Then I must have done something right."

I honestly think Alina's relationship with her mom was the hardest thing for me to understand. One moment they love each other and hope that the other is safe but the next, they're ripping each other's heads off. I don't think Maria is a bad mom. There's always a reason behind it all.

"I love her." I admitted.

"Maybe you should tell her that."
