The next morning was cold. The leaves on the ground outside were orange and brown. I didn't realize how pretty the town looked in the fall. It was like straight out of a book. I lit a candle in my room so it would feel more like Halloween. It was only half way through the day so I had time before I had to get ready.

I heard a knock on my door so I went to answer it. Thinking it was just the paper boy or something unimportant, I opened the door still in my pajamas.

"Shit." I mumbled. Robin laughed at me standing with the door wide open. I felt so stupid. Regardless, I welcomed him in. He was holding a bag but I didn't know what was in it. He set the bag down on the kitchen counter and then walked over to me. He took my hand and spun me around as if I was a princess, even though I looked like a dirty sewer monster.

"You're here so early." I said with a smile.

"Yeah well I figured we could make a couple things for the party tonight." I wasn't aware of any party but I was okay with it. I watched as robin took out some apples from the bag.

"Are those the apples we picked?" I asked.

"Maybe." He also took out a bag of caramel and I immediately understood. I walked over to the cabinet and grabbed a small bowl. Robin opened the bag of caramel but we had to unwrap them individually which was gonna suck. We both sat down at the kitchen table and started to unwrap as many small caramel squares as we could.

"Are you okay with going to the party tonight?" Robin asked. I nodded in response.

"I don't think anyone too bad should be there. And if anyone gives you trouble-"

"There won't be any trouble amor. Tonight's gonna be perfect." I said with a smile.

"I'm really excited. I love Halloween." I said.

"But you hate scary shit." Robin said back. He was right, it didn't make sense but I loved the feeling of fall.

"Who cares." After a few minutes, we finished unwrapping enough caramel squares. I melted the caramel in a double boiler and then set it on the counter next to the apples. We each took an apple to dip in the caramel. I took red and Robin took green.

"Your mom here?" Robin asked. I actually wasn't aware if my mom was home or not. I hadn't gone looking around the house for her yet.

"Probably not. I feel like she'd be out of her room by now." I said. My smile had dropped. My mother could never just stick around. It made me so upset.

"Well, now I have you all to myself." Robin had came up behind me and hugged me. I laughed and continued making my deserts for the party.

"As if you don't already." I said.

"I also have some of these." Robin had moved over to the bag and took out some chocolate and pretzels.

"You're full of surprises aren't you." I laughed at him. It was cute that he wanted to make snacks for the party.

"Always." He came back over to me and kissed the top of my head before grabbing a new bowl for the chocolate. As I made caramel apples, Robin attempted to make chocolate covered pretzels. It didn't 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬 great. I'm sure it tasted better than it looked.

"Are they supposed to look like that?"I asked. Robin scoffed and picked one up to eat it.

"What's it matter what it looks like? As long as it tastes good." I laughed at him and took one for myself. I set all the apples out on a tray so they could set before the party. I got a container out for the pretzels and started putting them in it.

"Wanna go get ready? We'll probably leave a bit early so we can walk by Finn and Gwen's house." Robin said. I nodded and we both went back to my room. My costume was set out on my bed all ready to go. I took my dress and walked out of the room, giving Robin some space to change into his own costume.

I changed into my costume. I got stuck with the scarecrow but at least it wasn't the lion. Finn was gonna look hilarious. I felt stupid in my costume though. I sat on the bed and waited for Alina to come back. She wasn't getting fully ready, just getting dressed.

A small out of place picture caught my eye. It was hidden underneath a book that was sitting on her side table. I moved the book and picked up the picture. It was definitely an old picture. Alina had to have been 7 or 8 years old.

She stood with a smile on her face next to a tall man and a pretty lady. There was another small child next to her but I didn't recognize her. She looked younger than Alina.

It was a family photo.

I didn't know Alina had a sister. I didn't really know much about Alina's family. She really liked to keep it to herself so I didn't wanna push it. The small photo was the only picture in her whole house of her family. She didn't even have a picture of just her and her mother.

I heard the bathroom door open, indicating that Alina was done getting changed. I quickly put the photo back underneath the book and stood up. Alina walked into the room and did a little spin to show off her dress. I watched in awe at my girl standing in the doorway.

She was so beautiful.
